Netflix |OT| Where Binge Watching is Encouraged

Homeland Security Fail
I've heard so much about this show, do you recommend giving it a watch?

It is worth the shot at least. I think its a good show. I haven't finished watching the whole season though(up to episode 7 or 8). Arrow will probably take people by surprise.

Does that make Bones caught up to current season, or are they lagging behind one?

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
What's the story with this movie? Did the proceeds go to charity or something?
IIRC it's just a bunch of shorts, or interrelated story arcs, or something to that effect. No idea how they got so many stars on board.

man I hate it when the pic for the next episode spoils the episode. I mean I kinda expected it but still, I don't actually want to know. I better not say which show or episode, could spoil it for other people.

Walking dead season three? I got spoiled like that a few days ago.

Cross posting again from the Halloween marathon:

This is one of the best horror so-bad-its-good films I have watched. There were some great death scenes in this. Especially the dinner/restaurant death sequence. The dialogue was funny (not on purpose). There is way more sex scenes then you would imagine about a movie about killer slugs. Thanks to this movie, I will know say "You don't have the authority to declare happy birthday!" on a regular basis. Oh, and they can't make the claim that no actually slugs were killed in the making of this movie. This was a fun watch. I'm also a huge fan of 'How Did This Get Mae?' so this movie was right up my alley.

Half way through Valhalla Rising. I want to like it but its soooo painfully slow. But yet compelling for reasons I can't explain. I'd like to see a full out action movie with Mad Mikkelsen playing the same character. Dude is bad ass.

MediaHint have started to get fucked up for me. It complains about DRM-fault and that [whatever the days date is] is of wrong value.

Anyone else experience this?

Man, Dutch Netflix is the bomb. Not only do they have a lot of the shows I wanna watch (Modern Family, Chuck, Homeland), but they also have incredible and relatively new movies. Crazy stuff. I wonder what it is about the copyright laws that allow them to get these movies/shows when they're not available in the US Netflix?

For one, we have next to no competition as far as online streaming goes. HBO launched last year, so we have HBO Go, but the selection is piss poor. Then there's premium cable channel Film1, which hosts 3-6 month old movies and some TV shows like Breaking Bad. No more than just over a hundred a month, with about 30 new films/30 films leaving each month. This costs over 15 Euro's a month. Finally there's some streaming services where you can purchase or rent movies, being iTunes and local services.

That's it, so it's fairly easy to find titles where there's no competition. Though I disagree about the new movies part, most of the stuff is 2011 and earlier right now. But I'm sure that'll change once the current exclusive contracts end (Film1 and HBO both have deals with companies for exclusive access to newer films) and Netflix can bid on them as well.

All in all, esp. in the TV department, Netflix NL is pretty good.

As far as the movies that interest me, they have Garden State, Enemy of the State, Kick Ass, Sin City, The Help, Wall-E, Pirate of the Caribbean, Armageddon, Face/Off, A Young Doctor's Notebook (granted this is a mini-series), Kill Bill, Lord of the Rings, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Midnight in Paris, etc. Pretty good selection of movies really.

A lot of these movies I tried to watch at one point or another on US Netflix and couldn't find. I guess they're not super new, but they're good movies nonetheless.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Bollywood)

Highly recommended if you like Bollywood movies. One of my favorites.

I watched a couple of movies last night.

Playing House - If you could take everything I hate about movies and put it into one shitfest, this would be it. The acting was shit, the story was laughably bad, the characters were the most unlikeable pieces of shit I've come across in a while, the camera work was shit, and the production was shit. Even the "hot" girl that gets naked isn't that hot. This movie makes pornos look like high production films. Avoid at all costs.

The Collection - I thought that was a solid gore/slasher horror movie. I would recommend if it you're a fan of movies like Saw.

I think the sequel, The Collection, is also up and you should definitely see it if you enjoyed the first one. The Collection is to The Collector what Aliens was to Alien, bigger in scale and with more action.

I agree with your post. But man, they took away the elements that made the first one so enjoyable. Especially in regards to the atmosphere and suspense. And I think that is where the movie failed for me. Yeah, you are right, the action was more crazy(the club scene!) and over the top, but it lost the hunting/capturing aspect that I liked from the first. I think anyone that watched and liked the first, should watch the sequel. But with lowered expectations.

Watch the Collector (Canada) next. The Collection is the sequel to it.

I'm on it for tonight. I didn't remember that The Collection was a sequel or I would have watched The Collector first. I blame it on watching it after that first dump. My mind was in a state of "just put something on and forget that this happened."

I've been watching a few of the recently added series lately....

The Walking Dead Season 3 = Great first half of episodes....so many ups and downs (mostly downs) and wtf moments already. The Governor is an interesting character....you want to like him, but then they remind you why you shouldn't. I'm liking where it's going but I wonder if the season is too long at 16 episodes.

The Vampire Diaries Season 4 = More of the same. We are getting a bit more lore it seems, and it's refreshing to see a show actually change something significantly about one of it's main characters and keep the change.

Louie Season 3 = More hilarious situations with Louie. I'm looking forward to the Late Show trilogy.

Fringe Season 5 = I have a hard time still with how different this season is from the rest....they changed too much by moving the timeline forward. I'm going to finish it eventually, but it's been a while since I've watched an episode because of all the new TV and the other three series that I've been watching off Netflix now.

About halfway through Arrow S1.

It's... alight. Fight choreography is hit n' miss, but the archery and parkour is generally handled well. As far as action, there's maybe a moment or two of every episode that will make you say "Wow, great job television show." but again it's just sprinkled in there.

The writers are struggling with consistent characters. Especially the protag. I get the feeling they don't have a true sense of the characters, and they're trying to find them... instead of sensible growth and a strong arc, it feels like they're just throwing them into whatever new forced-drama each ep brings and trying to write their way out of it. It leads to mixed messaging. Which is poor character writing, imo. However, to their credit, characters are still likable. Most of the cast is.

There are very attractive people in this show.

Anyway, I basically marathoned this, so the show is definitely watchable. It's good for a TV show about a superhero. I mean, not much else out there to scratch this itch.

So I just finished Arrow S1 and it was pretty good. Season starts off with good action and intriguing enough story but gets a little funky in the middle with a lot of the usual CW-esque romance stuff weighing it down and the action being a bit lackluster. It picks up towards the end though and really brings the action in the last 1/3rd of the season or so. Most importantly, stuff actually happens at the end of the season.

Haven't seen anything from S2 yet but I hope they didn't do stuff to reset everything like most shows of this type do (Nikita, Alias, etc..)

I'm worried I'm soon going to have to suffer through a romance with his little sister and some thief that was just introduced.

I don't know if I can stomach it. There is just too much relationship stuff. If my suspicions are right, that will make for the introduction of three new romances in the same episode! This on top of the annoying ones already in the show!

I don't think I can do it. Too much, too much.

Plus, this show became really exceptionally more dumb in the last few eps. Like, even for TV comic book hero standards.

Sounds like Smallville and every other CW show. :p

Was in the mood to watch Brotherhood of the Wolf the other day... very disappointed it wasn't on netflix.

Saw Apocalypse Now last weekend and Platoon last night.

Martin > Charlie

But both movies are excellent in their own way. Pretty different types of stories.

Haha, even while I live in the Netherlands and took a peak I never considered there would be a lot of fun stuff. I wanted to see Garden State for a while and see if there are other movies I want to see too.
