Seagate Storage Expansion Cards for Xbox Series X|S

Xbox Game Pass has made it possible for Xbox gamers to have a library of games at their very fingertips. Between Game Pass and four generations of game compatibility on Xbox Series X|S, there are thousands of games to choose from and play. With so many games available, we want to ensure there are also options when it comes to storage capacity and support to expand next-gen storage.

At the launch of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Designed for Xbox announced the close collaboration with Seagate to expand next-gen storage with the 1TB Seagate Storage Expansion Card. Designed for Xbox has collaborated with Seagate once again, and we’re excited to announce 512GB and 2TB Storage Expansion Cards for Xbox Series X|S will be available soon in all Xbox markets.

The Seagate 512GB Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S is available for pre-order today from Walmart in the United States for $139.99 USD (US Dollars) and will launch mid-November. For other markets and availability, please check your local retailer.

The Seagate 2TB Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S will be available for pre-order in November for $399.99 USD and will launch early December. The Seagate 2TB Storage Expansion Card will also be the next product featuring the Designed for Xbox Limited Series badge, ensuring premium product quality, performance, and design.

Great news.

The 2TB card is more than the Series S console.

Damn that 2 tb one would be nice with a series x and gamepass. But just under $1000 after tax is a hard pill to swallow. Still ~3 tb of storage would be pretty tits

This is the Vita memory cards all over again. Sony made the right call to go with standard PC SSDs. Sure they're not much cheaper yet but in a couple of years price will come down quite a bit I'd imagine; not sure if the same can be said of these proprietary cards though.

Remember a week ago when people were wondering if the 500gb card would be under under 100 bucks, and the naysayers said nahhhh MS is greedy, it’ll be 110.

Sonys solution is way cheaper.😌
Choose your NVME from different manufacturers.🥱
Allowing off the shelf ssd's (not going propriety). Definitely not as convenient as MS approach, but a much better value if you have 5 minutes to install it.
Seagate is price gouging. You can buy a 1 TB 3.5 GBps 980 for just $99. The 2 TB 970 evo plus is $240.

And thats a 3.5 GBps drive. The 2.4 GBps SSDs like the one Seagate is selling is selling for just $186 on Amazon
sata SSDs are affordable. High speed NVMe SSDs are not. HDDs have a speed limit basically and can only increase density whereas SSDs are constantly improving speeds/DRAM sizes, etc. Of course the costs won't be equal
Being able to buy this 1 TB SSD for PS5 for not much more than the cost of that 500 GB XS option from Seagate.

wow the deflection is strong here. comparing SATA drives to NVME and comparing 1TB drives to 2TB drives. well done

lol ok yeah i agree being able to buy 3rd party drives is better but you're still buying an SSD and SSD prices are insane. my 2TB SSD cost me £280. i could get one for about £220 now. the cheapest drive is ~4GB/s vs the PS5's 5.5GB/s. if i want to match or exceed PS5 speeds then i'd need to pay £300+. £220 is 62% of the price of a DIGITAL ps5 console.

even if i got a 1TB drive that's £110 or or £149 to match PS5 speeds. that's 31-42% the price of a PS5 discless console.

anyway, if you bothered to read my post (here it is again)

fuck ssd prices. i've been hearing since 2008 how they will be soon as affordable as HDDs lol.

i'm not arguing that the MS drives are good value. i'm saying SSD prices are shit. and if you go to the beginning of this post i did say that buying 3rd partying drives is good but AGAIN...the point of my post is that SSD prices are stupid.

do i need to repeat myself? stand down sony boys.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
I’d wait for sales like I’d do with a normal SSD, wouldn’t pay more then $350 max for the 2tb. Ease of use and hot swapping might be worth a bit more but not that much.

you said "SSDs are expensive" and that you've been hearing since 2008 they would be affordable. Those SSDs and their technology (SATA) are affordable. If you wanted to specify expensive SSDs being high end NVMe drives you should have done so.

I'm trying to remember how much I spent on the biggest Vita card (64GB). It was on the shelf at Gamestop and I picked it up. I only remember shaking my head as I forked over the money. But fork I did.

Figures, I hold out to see if they release a higher capacity SSD only to see when they do, the price is ridiculous.

Such a shame, I would love to have 2TB for the SSD plus the 1TB out of the box.

You asked a question, got specific answers, and then proceeded to LOL at them before ranting and raving about whatever the above is?

Why would you do that?
