New Assassin's Creed Unity: "Revolution gameplay" trailer

Tone it down? Nah, we going all out.

talk about Tales from My Ass, those are factions, shops and missions, not collectables.

The final build will never look this good.

Oh, it will
on my PC

One of my most anticipated games of this year, i hope my 4770k/r9 290 oc will run it smoothly on ultra settings 1080p, the previous pc versions of this game were pretty bad optimized

i hope it surprises me like 4 did. Since i only bought 4 cause of the graphics, this is going to be true next gen assassins creed, and it looks pretty decent. i just want to put my pc on its knees.

AFAIK they don't appear like that in-game, that was just added to emphasize all the shit you can do. And by shit I mean shit. Pointless, monotonous, shit.

It wouldn't be an AC game without pointless filler. Ubisoft knows to give the people what they want.

This what the game will look like, right guys?

On PC, why not? Hell, why not on PS4? Infamous SS looked really impressive.

I remember when ACII launched, IGN said it may be the best AC game yet.

To be fair, there were those shit DS and PSP games before ACII launched. But yeah, still an inane statement.

What, man? You didn't like burning quilts and shooting rabid dogs?

Looks gorgeous, but very little of that looks like anything I would call actual "play." Almost all look like semi-cinematic moments in the game just after I've done something. I'd love to see this thing in action to know if we're just looking at business as usual in an AC game or something truly different.

I didn't know where else to post this and I can't start a thread, but Reddit actually has a pretty good list of facts about the game, all sourced. http://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/2aw8b5/every_single_thing_we_know_about_unity_with/

I'll post some highlights:
--There is a large incentive to replay the co-op missions with randomized enemies, alternate paths, and various tactical options that can lead you to new challenges, encounters, and rewards.

--The instant, one button counter kill and kill streaks are both gone

--One skill tree will be devoted to combat

--The stealth system has had a complete overhaul

--There is now a dedicated stealth mode, where at the press of a button, you crouch, move slower, are harder to detect and can cover against objects

--There is a new disguise skill

--Paris is, or is near a one to one scale

--There will no longer be guards patrolling the rooftops

--One quarter of buildings are enterable

--There is a max of 5,000 NPC’s on screen at once

--There are two main categories of missions: Adaptive Mission Mechanic (AMM) and Blackbox

--AMM missions give a theme and can change depending on what you do during a mission. For example, if you’re caught during a tailing sequence, it becomes a chase sequence. If you lose your target, it becomes a locate sequence.

--Blackbox missions give you an area to explore, “create opportunities, and kill your target.”

--You can replay missions and complete them in different ways.

A lot more at the link at the top. I also remember hearing myself that hay barrels, and thus leaps of faith, are gone.

I think it was shown to show that you can play the game without having a HUD for navigation. You probably press a button and these icons appear to tell you in which direction is what. I think it's a nice addition, playing an AC without a HUD is a way better experience.

In the gameplay walkthrough they pretty much stated that getting to the roofs/certain heights and slowing down pops up all the nearby locational stuff in the game. I'm expecting it to work exactly like that - they're emphasis was that it reduces the constant on screen clutter AND the need to go into the map menu to look for stuff.

And some of those are obviously missions (the AC symbols of varying colors) and some are shops. But yes.. there is probably a side mission of whatever somewhere in there. It's an AC game... excuses to run around and do shit are about as assassin's creedy as the hidden blade. Perhaps you should stop buying them if you hate em so much...

Ooo, I hadn't heard that there will be skill trees in this game. I love skill trees! :D

Finally.

--There will no longer be guards patrolling the rooftops
MEGATON! Soldiers on the rooftops is one of my biggest annoyances with the Assassin's Creed games. I know they're there to stop the roofs from becoming a 100% "safe mode," but because of the past mediocre stealth elements they are the only good/fun option for tailing and stalking people.

--One quarter of buildings are enterable

--There is a max of 5,000 NPC’s on screen at once
AC4: Black Flag is running pretty well on my PC (not 60fps all the time, but smooth enough), but I'm worried this game might be the first Next-gen game to make it start showing its age (not to mention Ubi's less than stellar PC port skills).

Sounds like some very welcome improvements to the AC series if I do say so myself.

Every single tailing mission they give me will turn into a chase, I'll be damned if I have to go through eavesdropping/tailing crap like in AC4.

Vive la Revolution!

For some reason I'm not too hot about this one. Maybe I'll wait for impressions before committing to getting it.

"well, that surprised me!"

I've got a better one: "Only the dead can know peace from this evil"

Jesus Ubisoft, I mean some stock facial animations are probably easier than putting a woman protagonist, right?

Honestly, it sounds like they're trying to make the most fundamental changes they've made to the series since AC2. It's almost as if they're trying to make an actual next-gen Assassin's Creed.

... All of that sounds really interesting, to be honest. I wasn't following Unity much during E3, just because I was so burned out from Black Flag, but this would pique my interest. The rooftop guard removal is a godsend, considering how one of the most fun things you could do in AC:II was just go climbing around and taking in the vistas, but you always got interrupted by those damned guards.

Though, I have to admit, I likely won't be purchasing the game anytime soon. Wait for it to hit some sale prices, I say.

It's funny because I rented Black Flag last week after being away from the series since II and was like "Seriously? You still can't crouch manually to avoid being seen? You still can't drop off buildings without auto-grabbing the next ledge or having to jump farther off?"

Then literally the next day I hear about those issues being apparently resolved in Unity? Good thing I didn't buy Black Flag I guess.

Their randomizing tool for house sections and even entire streets is just smart.

This game looks so much better than AC4 I'm actually worried about my new PC being able to run it well, knowing Ubisoft's track record. I can't maintain a steady 60fps in AC4, even though I absolutely should. :|

AC is just one of those games you have to play on consoles. Their ports are so terrible i just cant find it in me to play on pc even though i still get better fps than on consoles.

If you're going to play under 60 at least play it on machine that has the excuse. That's how i feel about it.

Fucking hyped. I've been playing through all of the AC games I haven't beat (which is everything after 2), and I really enjoy them. On 3 now and will probably be on 4 next week, which I was already half-way done with with before going back. Each one is better than the last in my opinion, and this looks to be the best yet.

I'm just hoping for decent PC optimization.

I'm a bit conflicted about this. I know my PC should run this better than PS4, but I'll wait a day or so after release to see what kind of performance people are getting. I can run AC4 at a rock solid 60 FPS by turning Physx down a bit and I just found a rock solid 60 FPS sweet spot for AC3 last night by disabling the Vsync and turning down the Environment Quality. Still, both of these games don't utilize my hardware like they should, but AC4 is definitely better.

I'm hoping that because this is being made for next-gen consoles, and because they're targeting 60 FPS, that PC optimization will be a little better than previous titles. I'm optimistic that I'll get 60 FPS out of Unity with some tweaks, but Watch_Dogs has tampered my hopes somewhat. We shall see.

I probably should have guessed from the employee counts vs. building size and coders in different time zones long ago... but holy shit Ubisoft is on a 24 hour cycle within a single game. No wonder they can crank these things out.

Good video.

Graphics, systemic gameplay, play with friends - those seemed to be the three takeaways, and I can definitely deal with that if the systemic gameplay promise holds true.
