I didn't know registration was a thing in the film. Can we maybe not have threads with spoilers in the title? I haven't watched any trailers and want to know as little as possible, since I already know I want to see the movie.

The comic story aside, there's nothing about Tony's behavior the entire MCU besides the ending of AoU that suggests to me he would be pro-registration. He acted on his on in Iron Man 1-3, Avengers and AoU. But suddenly he's all responsible and feels bad about prior disasters the team has been involved in because the story dictates it.

As far as I've seen, Tony and Steve should be on the same page. We're playing into the "Tony is an asshole" angle because he is so in the comics. I'm not buying it. Both Tony and Steve have the same amount of dirt on their hands in the MCU. Yeah, there's apparently
that one lady that tries to guilt trip him because of her son
along with Thunderbolt Ross, but Tony has seen and lived worse. A couple of appeals to his emotions shouldn't be able to sway him.
Everything he's done, especially following Ultron, makes it entirely reasonable for him to realize that he needs to reverse course and stop trying to save the world by himself. I don't necessarily agree with the registration stuff but it makes sense to me for Tony to start pushing it after what has happened in the other movies.

Don't be dumb.

That's my job.

Government does serve as a deterrent for abuse. Can you imagine how much things would be if there was zero governmental oversight? People could do whatever without repercussion. Government for all it's ineffectiveness in certain areas, does serve as a means to maintain order.

In the Secret Wars: Civil War tie-in, Cap literally creates a libertarian state with no government.

Not even close, as a matter of fact TOny has been the artichtet of fucking up since jump. Iron Monger(pick up your trash), The convention robots(once again pick up your trash), Ironman 3 could have been avoided if TOny had decided to nice for 10 seconds and listen to dude.

Sam Rockwell is to blame for the second one.

Hey guys, Captain America is in Captain America: Civil War

If there's one thing I fucking hate, it's people complaining about goddamn spoilers. If you want real spoilers come hang out Thursday night on GAF, I'll bury you in em

Not everyone has scene the trailers, but enjoy the OT

You don't need to see a trailer to know what a movie is about. That's what the little synopsis is there for when you go buy a ticket online or you ask the cashier at the line.

"Hey, baby, we're going to go see this movie!"

"Oh, what's it about?"

"I have NO idea! :D"

That night, they came home after seeing A Serbian Film.

Going on a media blackout is fine, but requiring people to avoid even alluding to the basic premise of a film in a thread title is just pedantic and unncessary. I assure you that your enjoyment of Civil War will not be significantly impacted with this knowledge.

It's like complaining about a thread titled: "New clip presents the catholic abuse debate in Spotlight"

It's not a spoiler, it's the premise. Premises aren't spoilers.

The first teaser made the setup seem as if the fight was because of Bucky. (as stupid as that is)

Some people don't read the comics.

Not saying it's a big spoiler, but presenting the title

"New clip presents the superhero registration debate in Captain America: Civil War"

shows it's at least new (important) information that people outside of comics and the trailer might not be aware of.

The first teaser also has a big ol book with 'The Sokovia Accords' being forced towards Steve. How could you not get that? TV adverts will show it. Friends of friends will talk about it.

I am doing everything in my power to avoid finding out the real spoilers of this film i.e. how it ends but my god, this is ridiculous.

Wait, help me out here. You originally thought the premise was stupid and here learned it's not but you're upset that you can no longer go into the movie thinking it had a stupid premise?

This is all in the first trailer:

"Captain... While a great many see you as a hero, there are some who would use the term 'vigilante'. You've operated with unlimited power and no supervision."

*Shot of General Ross sliding registration papers towards Cap*

"That's something, the world can no longer tolerate"

I'm about to get yelled out for saying that dude is General Ross, aren't I?

I'm not going to watch the clip but all of this is Tony's fault.

Tony turned into a real dick after the Battle of New York.

No...

I know what happens in Civil War.

I'm defending those who don't.

At first I thought Marvel watered down the Civil War story by making the conflict between Bucky which would have been stupid.

This is some dumb shit.

Yea, especially since in the span of 50 seconds Cap shut Stark's argument down twice.

Okay, well that's better but it's still not a spoiler. A spoiler is how the movie ends, character deaths, cameos or plot twists. This scene is none of those.

It isn't adapting Civil War at all.

It's mostly taking the name and the general concept.

Yea, especially since in the span of 50 seconds Cap shut Stark's argument down twice.

They're really just fighting because Stark can't convince him, so he's gotta sock em

Who cares about the comics?

In the first trailer it's clear that they're going to be handed down a document regarding their actions.

The movie might not even call it a "superhero registration" or whatever. But the idea is still there regarding worldwide legislation on vigilantes.

Man, this is as spoiler sensitive as it gets.
Did they like it?

I wouldn't want to spoil that for you.

Yo fuck Tony Stark. He's a guy who you like to hang out with and always brings the party to you. But then he starts talking about building a wall and you're like...bruh...

Holy shit, this is a Captain America movie?! Why the fuck you spoiling it? I just wanted to go and watch this without knowing what it is or what it's about. I want maximum surprises.

wait the avengers fight against each other? i thought civil war meant that they went back to the 1860s. thanks for the spoilers

Everything in that first trailer at a casual glance is Captain America going rogue for a friend and the others not wanting him to abuse his powers.

Listen I get it, if you are in the know. It's obvious. But for a few, they might of liked to go in blind for one of the biggest movies of the year that may actual deliver where BvS didn't.

Again it isn't a huge deal.

Just would have been cool to have "New Civil War Clip" in the title and then in the OP you can give the details about the Registration debate.

It's super simple you get the message out, and everybody wins.

I'm not angry or mad, or saying it's a huge spoiler.
Just saying to be a little considerate, when someone complains of seeing the title, instead of laughing at them for being in the thread when they were minding there own business and couldn't help but see it.
