New Dragon Ball Z Animated Film Announced For 2015

Dragonball is so bad at storytelling. There's no way they can make Freeza relevant without it seeming like an obvious, inorganically placed plot device.

That said, give it to me.

Maybe we'll learn more about Freeza's race.

I'm pretty sure Mystic Gohan is definitely stronger than SSJ 3. Super Buu is slightly stronger than regular Buu and Mystic Gohan manhandled him. Even when he absorbed Piccolo and Gotenks SSJ3 he put up a fight.

I liked how it played off Gohan have the greatest potential.

The thing I liked about SSJ3 was that it put a limit to the ridiculous power-ups in the series. It wasn't as big of a jump from SSJ2 like the SSJ2 was from one but it had a limit of 30 minutes.

I liked how in the movie Goku was like I could never reach Super Saiyan God on my own. I have limits. Then for all that to be thrown out the window seemed dumb. You grow even more astronomically powerful!

I mean the Buu Saga basically showed Goku needed help. First to fuse to fight Super Buu than to gather energy for a spirit bomb. I liked that much better than him getting another powerup.

Well, he needs it when he's fighting against beings like Beerus and that there's destroyer gods in other universes that might be stronger than him.
 
Why has Goku never tried to use kaio ken while he's super saiyan? Isn't that technique basically used to multiply his power, but just putting a heavy toll on his body for that short period? Can you imagine him doing that shit while he was SS3? Yeah he might have died, but he would have fucked shit up for a few minutes.
 
My favorite fight ever in the entire series was Trunks squashing Freeza - short, blunt and to the point, instead of the usual one which took several episodes.
Feels a bit weird to being the guy back - Cell at least had his evolving factor to keep him competitive in the setting...

If they ever make a movie that plays with time travel shennanigans so that the Red Ribbon Army recruited Sembei Norimaki (Dr Slump) instead of Dr Gero, I'm totally there though.

Because Akira Toriyama probably forgot Kaio ken was a thing.

That's what i was thinking, i remember that during the anime there was an instance where it was clearly explained that you couldn't revive people that were dead from more than a year.

Anyway, i really wonder how are they going to make Freezer powerful again, since his power level must be extremely low compared to the Z team. Thinking about how SSJ3 Goku and SSJ2 Vegeta could barely hit Beerus in the movie, i wonder how insignificant Freezer's power was compared with Beerus when he originally ordered him to destroy planet Vegeta.

I will cross my fingers expecting Vegeta to have a worthy part in the movie, and also seeing Gohan being put back in power notoriety.

In addition to general narration from the hosts, character dialog includes:

PICCOLO: He’s come back as a monster in a totally different league from us!
VEGETA: What’s going on?!
GOKU: Freeza!
FREEZA: Allow me to show you… my further evolution!

It may be worth noting that Freeza’s dialog here is slightly different from the similar quote printed in the recent January 2015 issue of V-Jump, where the word henshin (“transformation”) was used; here, it is shinka (“evolution” or “progression”).

Mezamashi TV also teased the movie earlier this year. The 2013 Dragon Ball Z film, Battle of Gods, was given similar teases on Mezamashi TV with previews and promotional videos.

The story for the movie is being crafted by original manga author Akira Toriyama, who stated he is writing it, “…as though it were a continuation of the manga when it was in serialization,” and that while it will, “…of course be a continuation of the previous Battle of Gods,” he has also, “…deliberately increased the amount of action scenes by a good deal.” Tadayoshi Yamamuro, who worked for many years as character designer and animation supervisor on the Dragon Ball franchise, will serve as the film’s director. No other movie staff have been confirmed at this time. Revival of “F” is set to bring back Freeza and will also include two new characters (Sorbet and Tagoma), feature Beerus and Whis again from Battle of Gods, and much more.

Looks like Gohan has lost that mystic thingamajig again. That's weird because in Battle of Gods' trailer they showed him going Super Saiyan but after fans point out that it was wrong it got removed.

So I guess they're going to explain why this time?

To scare the shit out of Frieza. Remember in the Manga he never returned after being killed by Trunks, Gohan probably thought going SS will scare him or something.

Actually no. It is said in Anime (not sure if it is also said in Manga) that using Kaio ken would burn out already overpowered SSJ state to the point of dying. And that is the sole reason Goku used it only in the afterlife VS green dude (Pike something). He literally hacked afterlife rules to go SSJ + Kaio Ken.
 
So, all Goku has to do is actually transform to any SSJ to finish him off, right? I know Frieza could have become stronger maybe. And it seems he has a new form. But Goku has literally become a god, and most of the Z Fighters are way stronger than Frieza was at his max, now.

But, whatever.

And how does Bills(?) fall into this?
 
Man, I'm watching the Freeza fight right now...it's long as hell, but honestly pretty fucking intense.

Although I swear Freeza has "gotten serious!" like 20 times now.

In Battle of the Gods' final cut, Gohan still ended up 'powering up' into Ultimate before getting crushed by Bills. Also, he used standard SSJ for the SSJ God scene.
 
I hated the idea of SS levels. 3 being the worst and a sign the series had become bland. Beerus is the best villain we've had in a loooong time, it's good he's back along with Freeza.

Pikkon and the afterlife tournament was all filler, kaio-ken was completely forgotten in the manga, never mentioned again after Goku first turned SSJ.

I hope they don't hold back with the violence in this one.

They had to chop Freezer into small bits AND blow them up to kill him the first time.

Then we got Episode of Bardock and he just hit Chilled really hard until he died.

Looks like him and Veggi are training under Whiss.

And Goku going against Frieza when not in Super Sayian. Either that's just them starting out, or Goku under Whiss got strong as fuck.

Also I don't remember the manga saying Mystic would run out. Could just be yet another mistake, or Gohan literally just wasted his best powerup.
 
lol I still can't get over the japanese voices. Yeah, yeah, legacy, original stuff, ignorant, whatever but holy shit Goku's super high pitched "haaaaaa" in that trailer (all three times) had me laughing so hard. Just turrible.
 
So I just watched the uncut version of Battle Of Gods, and now I'm hyped for this. The English voices are so much better. I watched it in Japanese around the time it came out, thought it was meh (I have seen the whole series in both languages so I knew what to expect), saw the uncut version with English voices about an hour ago with friends, so much better. The enjoyment factor increased by a lot.

Also, were the fights a little extended in the uncut version? I saw some good looking effects/sequeneces in the fights that I don't recall with the first version I saw (which was the theatrical cut in japanese).

Anyways, what I learned with this viewing experience is, for this new movie, I will be waiting for the English dub. Probably the uncut bluray release.
