However, I stand by the fact that the whole Namek section of DBZ is genius storytelling. It's like the movie Crash, at the peak of the Namek saga we're following like 5 or 6 different character paths and how they're indirectly affecting each other and crossing over into other storylines. And then it all converges into the actual Frieza battle which is very tense and Frieza is the Joker of anime, so it's all very good.

I always consider the start of Dragonball to the end of the Frieza Saga as one big story. I mean the whole reason Goku is on Earth to begin with (and hence the start of Dragonball) is part of the whole Sayain's conquering planets for Frieza thing.

I agree. Up until Future Trunks shows up everything feels like a natural chain reaction of events that flow very fluidly. There's lot of pretty great foreshadowing even from the beginning.

I'm not saying that Future Trunks ruins the show, he's cool and I love the return of Gero and the RR Army, but yeah, up until then the show is masterpiece in story structure in my opinion.

I'm convinced if another saiyan showed up half as awesome as Vegeta and just as antagonistic to Gohan he would have easily slain Cell, Buu and whatever the fuck else.

Vegeta kept Goku interesting or as interesting as someone like Goku can be. Vegeta vs Gohan just isn't there. And there's no one like Vegeta, Trunks is far better of as Gohans disciple.

The character direction and utilization after Cell is odd, yes, but my biggest gripe is that they devalued the Super Saiyan process by making it seem like it aint no thang. I do understand the notion that they have to keep getting more powerful and they can't make transforming into SSJ a big deal forever, so where else would they go from there? I don't know, but I just felt like all transformations in the Buu saga weren't special at all. I've never been into Fusions. Majin is cool. The Buu saga is fun though, I honestly just enjoy the DBZ world and cast of characters.

I feel like fusion has the exact same issue as the original Super Saiyan God - a huge power boost with no training or difficult trigger.

Do you know where I can find an image of this? I'm interested in seeing this.
