When your comparing dragonball characters the correct method is choosing the character that doesn't suck.

Also I really wish Cell saga had more trunks/gohan interaction. Now I could be forgetting again but I don't recall Trunks really having any meaningful interactions with Gohan.

Or maybe Future Trunks will use the dragonballs in our timeline to bring back future gohan and future gohan learns how to train properly from Goku and ends up with Green hair!

I think Goku and Vegeta teaming up and defeating Freeza is far more likely than that to happen.

Vegito and Potara fusion only exist because Toriyama didn't want to steal Fusion Reborn's thunder by having Gogeta appear in the manga first.

I had it kind of backwards, but here:

The concept of fusion is also a form of leveling up. How did that concept come to be?
If I remember correctly, I was talking about how, as a concept, “there’s nothing stronger than a Super Saiyan”, and Katsura-kun (Masakazu Katsura-sensei), who I usually just joke around and say idiotic things with, said, “There’s no choice but for them to fuse, then.” So I said, “Whoa, sometimes even you say something good. It’s the first time you’ve ever made yourself useful.” (laughs) That’s how that plot point was born.


What about the concept of the Potara?
That was simply, since Fusion was a plot point that was already taken by one of the movies, I was wondering what I should do; I had always been drawing earrings [on Kaiōshin], so I thought, “perhaps I can use these”…

Toriyama made new designs for the entire main cast this time. I guess he didn't want to make some halfway older designs for them though. This is 5 years after the Buu Saga, so they'd need to look older, but also younger than in the end of Z. It also likely doesn't help that his new art style makes everyone look younger.

That fits with what Bulma says in Chapter 519. 5 years ago Goku would've been training with Whiss and the Freeza event would've happened.

your probably right. Future Trunks was the only adult in the room. He is the only one that resisted that saiyan urge to fight. Killed frieza without any effort. Blasted the androids head on. The only one willing to kill cell outright while the rest of the cast toyed with Gohan potential and "challenge". Then again, a lot of material in the show makes no sense. One cant blame Vegeta without blaming Krillin for perfect cell. Krillin could have blown 18 with the remote. I cant see how Trunks or vegeta couldnt have killed her at that point.

Then there is the biggy "stand there while the villain powers up" mantra. Trunks is the only one to actually try and attack a villian while they were piling up.

But Gohan looked like a normal pre-teen. Future Trunks was also in an in between stage in History of Trunks (about what he should look like in this movie).
