New Girl - Season 2 |OT| Tuesdays on FOX

Looks like an experiment to see if it gets noticeably better ratings. I hope it works, this show deserves better.

The thing is that it is following up American Idol, which will give it an artificial boost anyways.

I do hope it does better though, and this might work. With The Office leaving and CBS keeping their one-two punch of Big Bang Theory and Two & a Half Men at 8pm, that does leave the 9pm slot open for a good comedy. And lord knows that NBC doesn't have anything to put there to worry about.

Well, New Girl was the highest rated sitcom on Tuesdays anyway, Fox or ABC. I guess they're just trying to expand its audience. Hope it works. But the show is sure to get a third season regardless.

To put things in perspective, right who's New Girl is up against one of the most watched shows on television. Thursday might be less competitive.

This show has just become so consistently good this season. Favorite part of the episode was Schmidt's girly scream after he drank real liquor.

They could dump Cece right now from the show and I wouldn't miss her. That entire subplot is stupid as hell and not a bit believable.

She was cool at first, but now her whole deal feels like such a side plot I feel like it distracts from the rest of the show.

I know that everyone always loves Schmidt but i have loved Nick from the beginning and he continues to just slay me. I think Nick is the one that really makes this show work in my opinion. Of course though Schmidt is definitely great, i love Winston to. For me Jess is really just annoying for the most part. I'd rather them keep CeCe and give Jess the ole heave ho.

I really enjoyed this one. Nick/Schmidt episodes always crack me up (and the sentiment was just right). This was also the funniest Jess has been in some time, with her anguished attempts to dislodge herself from the clingy football player.

Cece's subplot isn't really working for me. Her fiance is charming enough (and hot) but the two of them have very little chemistry and Cece is better utilized when interacting with Jess or Schmidt.

I love the balance of the characters. Schmidt explained it best: he's over-responsible, Nick is under-responsible.

I loved when Jess basically started grunting replies to the football player talking about how he loved her and was gonna marry her and put a baby in her.

And Winston is really coming along; he really fits in with the others: dead pan when he needs to be, slapstick (like the football game), sprouts his own jokes, etc.

I know I'll probably catch shit for this, but this really feels like a new Friends.

This felt like half an episode- ending with Jess doing a runner out of the balloon felt abrupt. I'm guessing next week shit is going to get realer with that storyline.

I enjoyed all the Nick/Schmidt interaction. Good shit. Especially them drinking liquor in the downed balloon.

Nah, no shit from me although I'd say Happy Endings feels more like Feiends than this does. Neither show has the miraculous one and a kind cast chemistry that Friends had, where you could pair any character up with another and it would be comedy gold.

The Cece/Schmidt plot is hitting on all the tropes I dislike in tv sitcoms and romantic comedies. End it already.

No show as young as Happy Endings or New Girl can really be compared on that aspect because it takes time to flesh out the characters to that point. If you think back to early seasons of Friends they didn't all have that chemistry. Joey for example didn't have much chemistry or screen time alone with Ross early on and they changed his character quite a bit before they got to that point. Dave and Winston for Happy Endings and New Girl (respectively) have the same deal going where they're still not quite where they should be for that kind of thing to happen.

Schmidt is such a dick when he wants to be. "Welcome to America" was great. Reminded me of when he asked that same guy what language he was speaking. "English."

"No that's not English. I speak English and that's not English."

I'm guessing the Cece marriage never goes trough. She really didn't look like she was sure about 'doing this thing'.

And another solid episode this week. I'm glad my favourite comedy's keep delivering this year :D

Oh, it is obvious the marriage will never happen or not last with Cece.

And as for next week, I have not seen the preview, but looking at the synopsis and promo pics, I hope they handle it well. So far this show has been great at handling the Nick/Jess thing, so I have faith in it.

That reminds me, have the shippers given a name to Nick and Jess like they seem to do on every single show? I dont think I have seen one yet.

Ness? Jick? I like Jick personally.

Wait, is he related to Dev?

I was referring to the character he plays in Scott Pilgrim
