I've lived in Florida almost my whole life and while I knew prejudice was rampant in their ranks, I never thought the vile and hatred was this strong at such a wide scale. It's really terrifying to see such a large percentage of the populace harboring this shit.

While I am absolutely not a fan of the idea of him winning to "teach people a lesson" and I would rather he not embolden/justify the many overtly prejudice people in this country, it IS nice that we can point and go "See this shit?" for many, many years to come.

I mean, how many people have denied it exists at all prior to now? Many people have known but so many more have tried to explain it away as coincidence or an overreaction or whatever.

In a kinder world we'd be debating making a list for those people emboldened by Trump instead, but here we are.

Anybody see this?

He's going to have to scare the GOP into giving him the nomination. They know if he runs as an independent they don't stand a chance.

Trump is like some stereotype from the city of Colombia in Bioshock Infinite.

"Protect our country from the foreign hordes, and we shall be great again!" Poll +10

That could represent up to 10% of voters, which would effectively tank the GOP in all swing states.
Hell, it could represent 2% of the electorate, and that would be enough to kill their chances. Even under default circumstances, the GOP's demographic math is now at a point where they need near-perfection if they want to pull-off the narrowest of electoral college victories. On average, they need to win the popular vote by about 1.5% in order to have a 50% chance of passing 269EVs, simply due to the current relationship between electoral and popular distributions.

Sucks to be them. 😋

Are these republicans so deluded as to think Trump can win the White House, or are they just all secretly RINOs?

Thanks for securing another 4 years for the democrats, Trump. The last thing the world needs right now is trigger happy republicans in the white house.

Damn, he's really about to break out the N word in a week or so. We talked about killing that Gata after he got a taste of human blood. What the hell will Trump do now after tasting, neigh, devouring that plump apple of bigotry?

God I hope this destroys the current Republican party. This is really disgusting to me. Hopefully they emerge in four years as a more modern, progressive group.

The Republicans aren't just a party of bigoted xenophobes, people, please stop painting with such a broad brush. Just a plurality of them are.

Well, when the majority of Republicans out there continue to support a party which says and does what the Republican Party says and does, with very little shame or remorse, it makes you wonder about the rest of the people who identify as, and who continue to vote, Republican.

I wish I could read some candid discussion about this from GAF republicans. No way they step foot in here because they'd get trolled

But do people high five this? Are they scared shitless?

It's just basic civilizations stuff. A lot of America that supports Trump's nativism doesn't want to live in multicultural country. They just want a white America with white picket fence neighborhoods where everyone doesn't even lock their doors. No blacks, no muslims, no mexicans, no nothing. Something akin to a white version of Japan's homogeneity.

My parents are republican and they think he's completely insane. My dad says he hates Hillary (and started going off on bengazi/email stuff) but he'd vote for her if Trump got the nomination

GOP, give me the nomination or else we both fucking go down.

This. While it sucks that he is making muslim demonization mainstream, this might actually land a serious blow to the Republican Party which could only bring good things. Here is the breakdown:

1) He wins nomination, loses the election spectacularly, Republican Party implodes
2) He doesn't win the nomination, runs independent, Republican Party implodes
3) He doesn't win the nomination, far right tea party goes nuts , Republican Party Implodes

And oh, no way he wins a general election, nada. 2012 made it clear even you can't win an election in modern America when you sideline minorities. If trump does get the nomination, the election of 2016 will be of historic proportions, as in representing the dying breath of old white conservatism.

You can find that hilarious and brush it off, but think about it for a second. There's a very large number of the American population that thinks the way he does and shares his racist and fascist views, on ethnic minorities, on immigrants, on Muslims, etc etc. That's not funny. That's sad, that's deplorable, and it's dangerous.

That's the sad part.

It makes you wonder if people who are looking for cheap thrills in this one hell of a train wreck are the same people who are going to be more marginalized by Trump's drivel.

Too many Americans are treating this like a game, you all need to start taking responsibility for what is happening in US politics.

I don't want to see another person post

"Oh but he won't win the presidential election"

This kind of attitude is just making things worse and worse, and of us poor fucking people from the rest of the world have to watch as you all let it happen.

He isn't winning a general. His only shot would be dems staying home and not voting. But he has shimmied so far to the right that the shit he is saying is going to get EVERYONE out there to vote to make sure he doesn't stand a chance.

He either doesn't have anyone around him that's strategizing at all, or he simply doesn't want to win anything but the GOP nod.

If Trump does become president what is stopping Congress just impeaching him?

Does he need to break a law first before he can be impeached?

Yeah. I really don't get what he's playing at. He's definitely not a moron. He's been playing to the Republican base hard as hell. But he has to know that means hes reduced his chances in the general to nothing. So why even go down that path? What's his end game? He gets the Republican nomination. Then what?

Impeach just means to put on trial for misconduct. So for example Clinton was impeached, but was note voted out of office.
So yes, there would be a law he would have to break.

Idk, I'm a liberal thinker, I believe in progressive ideas, and I can exercise those beliefs in my day to day. I don't have to believe what a republican thinks....

With that said, I do not want another democrat running this country.

So I'll probably just vote for trump

Seriously though, do you mind telling us why?

No offense, you just typed a word salad and mentioned one issue. H1B visas. I really would like to have a honest discussion with you but it is really hard when it is so cloaked.

Specifically, issue by issue; what is it about Trump that you support. We have already hit H1B.

That's a fair point about the word salad, but I don't know how much I can clean them up while still fully explaining myself. Since I probably won't be able to adequately address every issue, here's a select cross-section. Also, please don't misconstrue my "liking things he says" as my supporting his positions on the topics. Any major political issue is bound to be complex. He made statements on issues I felt other candidates either did not address or disagreed with my opinion. I haven't made any decision on any candidate yet.

Things I like
  • Yes, H-1B visas, but he abuses them too.
  • Corporate tax reform/offshoring profits and assets, just generally. I don't agree with his solution, however. Just his address of the issue.
  • Supports funding medicare and social security
  • Campaign finance reform - He's mentioned limitations on financial contributions and the like, but it does feel slightly like "screw you, I've got mine."
  • Calling the Chinese government out on their trade and currency shenanigans. Note: I don't support the TPP either.

Thinks I don't care about/don't agree with anybody about

  • His statement on Mexicans, because it wasn't about Mexicans in general. It specifically targeted illegal immigrants who come from Mexico. It was, however, an exaggeration. His assertion that it's the Mexican government "forcing their unwanted" into America is paranoid. The wall is a stupid idea.
  • Same-sex marriage - It's not that I don't support same-sex marriage, rather I feel the concept of marriage should be removed from the law. Nobody should need the law to validate their marriage, no matter their orientation or religion. The benefits/legal arrangements surrounding marriage should apply to any adults equally, and the rest is a personal matter.
  • Gun control - He's basically status quo here, but does support greater access to health and criminal records during background checks. I support gun ownership rights, but don't believe in unrestricted access to every type of weapon.

Thinks I dislike
  • Basically any statement he's made on Muslims. You can't have freedom of religion for everybody but those guys over there.
  • His support of domestic surveillance
  • His comments on environmental issues.

Bonus "shit Trump says:"
  • "...closing that Internet up..."
  • "Spread [vaccines] out over...time, and autism will drop!"

In satire news, ISIS claims responsibility for Donald Trump
Baghdad: Clearly underscoring its frightening reach all the way to Washington, the Islamic State (IS), popularly known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for Republican presidential candidate for 2016 Donald Trump. This blatant attack on America bursts the myth that ISIS is limited to the Middle East and doesn’t have access to the US.

“We take complete responsibility for Donald Trump,” ISIS caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi said in an exclusive interview with Khabaristan Times. “This is the biggest attack that we have executed outside the Middle East or South Asia,” he added.

Baghdadi’s announcement comes after Trump was being lambasted by the global media for his ‘shocking’ response to a question in a Trump campaign rally in Rochester, New Hampshire. The question asked was: “When can we get rid of all the Muslims in America?”

“It is safe to say that no one has brought a bad name to so-called Muslims like we have,” Baghdadi said. “Trump is clearly following our anti-Muslim instructions,” he added.

“Only after these non-violent so-called Muslims are eliminated from America, would we, the true Muslims, be able to infiltrate the US.”

The ISIS chief however expressed his surprise that no one had seen through their manoeuvre that is now ‘quite a few months old’.

“Trump, like ISIS, is against vaccinations and immigrants. He manifests supremacism as well. It’s amazing that no one has seen through the façade,” he said.

Dubbing Trump a ‘slowly ticking time bomb that would explode in 2016’, Baghdadi outlined his plans for the US.

“Trump is our khalifa for the American continents. He shall inshallah impose Shariah law in America,” he said. “We couldn’t have found anyone better to establish the totalitarian, narrow and bigoted ideology and jurisprudence of ISIS.”

Not even primary season yet. Chill.

Besides, you're preaching to the choir. The amount of people who will vote for Trump on this forum is very, very low.

You're a liberal thinker...who believes in progressive ideas...but you're going to vote for a man who's openly basing his campaign on hate and discrimination of blacks, Mexicans, women, and the disabled...simply because you don't want to vote for a party who, for all their flaws, are the only people promoting those liberal, progressive ideas you claim to follow?

I'm so confused right now.

So I'll just set my house on fire."

Why? He is the social media candidate, that has been his entire narrative. Look at mah polls, look at how many people I have here, look at how many people applauded, etc.

Not so much that he is broadcasting something on social media, but rather that he is broadcasting what would happen if he ran as an Independent. As crazy as it seems, this is the type of scenario from him that some people worry about the most.

I much rather Trump be the nominee than run third party. I think being the nominee would hurt Republicans down ballot far more.

I want a Dem Congress!
