Franklin's friend seems more like the cliche gang banger. Franklin basically wants to avoid exactly that and I'd assume will do so once the main storyline kicks off and he joins up with Michael and Trevor.

My guess is he will be "forced" into the "game" and we will be doing lots of San Andreas stuff. Time will tell.

Note that San Andreas is my favorite GTA, I just want something new from 5.

What's with all the Franklin hate?

Rockstar makes gang warfare relevant in this version of Los Santos too- I want to play his story the most! I like the different avenues of crime that each character succumbs to; it'll make for a variety of different missions/play styles.

That gritty, street warfare has potential- and he's trying to move on up. Like every GTA, but I love it.

I thought it was the daughter? Looks like he chased some kid that was fucking her.

It's his wife. The guy is probably her tennis teacher because she makes Sharapova like moaning/orgasm sounds in the tennis shot, implying an affair due to Michael's proposed midlife-crisis.

God I can't wait to watch the TV he is watching in that clip lol

Or it could be because it seems like the same exact "respect the streets, trying to get out of the game, etc." that was already done in San Andreas. Why couldn't the black guy be in Michael's role? Why does he have to be a cliche gang banger?

Boring.

except CJ was all about reestablishing grove street by fighting off rival gangs and the corrupt police, he didn't care at all about getting out of the game

Yes, this looks much better for example (Watch Dogs) - I know this runs on a high end pc, but it's not like they are going to destroy these models for ps360U:

While it would be interesting. But I am guessing, because California. This game does has its basis in real life. It justs exaggerates it.

Visually looks like shit, but its expected considering the scale I guess.
Looks like a step down from Max Payne 3 for sure.

I see two scenarios

Either they are bullshitting us and shows 'improved' gameplay from pc station or it's gonna be next-gen title. In GTA IV it was impossible to drive throug the bench without dropping to the 5 fps. I know devs tech improved but guys - such graphics and actions without framerate drops? Impossible on ps3 / xbox 360.

Well it seems that most who dislike what they have seen so far are those who are buthurt over it not being in Vice city ( i mean the game was good, but the map kinda sucked) or just people who expect GTA to do something different, even though they are playing certain games that have been the exact same for like the last few to 20 years or those who are already hyped for SR IV and so complain about GTA V.

Just generalising.

So we have a cliche black gangbanger doing gangbanging. Wether he wants in or out of the "game" really doesn't matter to me I guess. Anyway like I said earlier I love SA, I just think there are so many more interesting people that could have been explored than another gangbanger.

My post was directed at someone who said that people find Franklin uninteresting because he is black, which is ridiculous.

Michael is the only interesting character of the three.

Franklin seems like a shade of CJ with the smallest sense of humor of the three.

Trevor is like an almagamation of all trailer type characters like Phil Cassidy and all into one without the charm.

So far here I think I like Franklin. Trevor seems like a nut so I dunno what his story will be. We don't know much about either though.

Michael could be a pretty crappy character I think. Despite getting the most info on him there is likely a lot we don't know yet so I can't really judge. I just hope it doesn't boil down to a life of crime "just to feel alive"

Pretty hyped for this. I liked GTA IV though I find it hard to go back too. I hope this game doesn't have that laggy feel RDR and GTAIV had.

As it stands right now, Watch Dogs is a far more exciting prospect than GTA V. I guess being a new IP fresh on the scene helps.

Without digging through 15 pages of fast moving posts...

Are most people surmizing that we're going to get 3 seperate but overlapping campaigns, in the vein of GTAIV and its 2 expansions?

Personally, I think this is really the way to go with these kinds of games. They're built as a movie experience, but following a single protag around just causes them to drag. Having 3 protags and reusing the same assets allows for much snappier and interesting story telling, while varying up gameplay and reducing ludonarrative dissonance.

I'd like to see this kind of thing in multiple AAA games going forward if possible. Multiple characters and story lines taking full advantage of the game assets, weaving in and out a complex narrative without the discongruence of having the player play a single super soldier all the time.

You ain't gotta like it, cause the hood gone love it

Hopefully Microsoft does not exclusive this for next gen. :/

Looks good: even great.
The last video was my fav btw.

Overall i hope the missions will be back to GTA3 style.
Freedom >>>>>>>> scripted bs.
Could not care less of "cool" cut scenes in GTA.

Chance it will be cross-gen?
I fear this will look a ugly jaggy slow popping mess on current gen.

I see Franklin's friends are sporting green in their clothing. I'm hoping this means Grove Street is still alive and well.

Really hope so to... I just wish that the 360/PS3 GTA's weren't a totally divorced universe. I'd really like a nod or two to the gang wars of the 1990s. with some mention of Office Tenpenny as the motivating factor of the Los Santos riots... now 20 years in the past.
