not sure how waterfalls will fit into the equation.

Shaheed79 said:If they really fixed the combat animation I'm gonna break down and buy this sucker. Is the PC version out this year also? Were the system requirements ever revealed? I don't want to have to buy a 360 for just this game. (Yes I've seen all the X05 game trailers)
SteveMeister said:Not yet. We're still optimizing, and until we reach the point where we just can't get the game running any faster, we can't really make an accurate assessment of the minimum specs. Moving target & all. But the game is pretty configurable -- there's a lot of stuff you can turn off or scale according to your PC's specs.

i was under the impression that the x360 version is graphically superior, period. no matter what system you have (?). even though it is only "slight". add to that a supposedly locked 60fps. some things i heard though were a farther draw distance and some other extra effects (parallax mapping perhaps? just guessing here).Shaheed79 said:Ok thanks. Still wait and see then. If this game requires a $400 dollar video card to look as good as the 360 version then ...
shpankey said:they'll be watching... the waterfalls are always watching.
p.s. why anyone would want to play this on the PC when the x360 is graphically and audioly (<-- is that a word? haha) superior is beyond me. unless you don't have a good tv or whatever. i guess for mods and whatnot, but i always find that these mods for games like this completely suck.
for me, playing in widescreen HDTV in dolby digital 5.1 surround from the comfort of my recliner and taking in all that this game has to offer is what it's all about.
How exactly am I talking out of my ass when it's my opinion? And what does a powerful toolset have to do with the quality of a mod? It's the means to the end, not the end itself.Zensetsu said:Talking out your arse, mate. The TES construction set is an incredibly powerful toolset, and there were a large number of awesome mods for morrowind.

I see. That's cool.Shaheed79 said:Well like Zensetsu said I myself who have been a fan of the ES series since the Arena days would prefer not only the mouse and keyboard but the incredible word editors they package in with the PC version. So unless there is a reasonable difference in graphical quality between the 360 and PC versions then I would much rather go with PC version if only for the mod possibilities. Not knocking the 360 version at all because ANY ES game is enough to last anyone a short life time but the best version for me would be a mix of the best graphics and better options. Not to mention this might possibly be the only version of ES we see for quite some time barring any expansion packs.

how so? i don't think that works considering that the x360 doesn't use a 9800 pro and is not going to be running at medium quality. and the x360 card is beyond both of those higher end video cards you list, so i don't get what you're saying. how will the pc version with a 6800 look better than the x360 version exactly?FallenOne666 said:If a 9800Pro (pretty cheap card low 100s) with 1 gb ram can run the game at medium quality (this is the rig used by most of the devs at Beth) then a 6800 or x800 card would probably look a lot better than the 360 version.
Are you sure about that? a lot better?FallenOne666 said:a 6800 or x800 card would probably look a lot better than the 360 version.

FallenOne666 said:You wrongly assume the full power of the Xbox360 GPU will be used. It won't be. This is a first-gen launch game and a multi-platform one at that (meaning, it's not built around the 360 GPU but rather one closer to the 9800Pro I mentioned). A high-end card (and Pete, one of the creators, considers 6800 and x800 high-end and a 9800pro to be mid-range) will be very comparable to the 360 version and has more than enough potential to surpass it.
The PC gamers' benefit is that they have room to tweak the settings and get the game running perfectly themselves. The 360 is reliant on the devs getting it locked and solid. If the port is bad (ie. stuttering, loading, crashing issues like Morrowind) then you have no choice but to deal with it. And again, like I said, this is a first-gen game and Beth (or anyone for that matter) has not mastered or even fully learned how to harness all the 360 architecture.
That said, I have no doubt the 360 version will be awesome, but don't doubt the PC. Simply pointing to spec sheets proves nothing.
I assume no such thing. But I still don't get what you're saying. Are you now trying to say that they won't use the x360 video card but will use special features of the 6800 PC card and this will make it better? I mean, you said "6800 [on the PC] would probably look a lot better than the 360 version". A lot better? How? The x360 GPU can do everything those older two cards can do, plus more. So even if they maxed out a 6800 or x800, the x360 GPU could handle all that too. You can't look a lot better for no reason. Sorry, but I don't think you understand what you're saying bro.FallenOne666 said:You wrongly assume the full power of the Xbox360 GPU will be used. It won't be. I am not the one describing anything. I only asked you how you [in your own words] thought a 6800 PC system would probably look a lot better than x360. And yes I read your whole post. You spoke about tweaking it to get it to perhaps run better... or maybe some other tweaks... though I know of no tweaks that could make a game look a lot better (unless you are talking image quality stuff like AA/AF, which x360 already has too)... most tweaks I know are to get a game to run better, so then you can turn up/on more graphical features while keeping up a decent framerate.FallenOne666 said:You didn't read anything other than that one quote, did you? :lol I misspoke slightly. As I corrected myself, I meant it certainly has the potential to look better. It's not the end all be all situation you are describing. I listed many reasons why already, so please reread the posts.![]()
shpankey said:At best, you would be lucky (very luck) to get a 6800/x800 PC to look as good as the x360... and even though, I seriously doubt.

shpankey said:I think Oblivion on the Revolution is an excellent idea. the controller could make it a really different experience. not saying i would for sure like it better, but who knows.
also, i think a game like this could sell well on that system.
shpankey said:and we already know all x360 games will have 4x FSAA and 8x AF (for free, due to the GPU and special memory for just that)
Shaheed79 said:IMO Oblivion is one of the games that MS should push as their flagship launch title instead of PDZ as it is more than worthy of a multi-million dollar television add campaign.
