New Hori PS4 controller - People are going to get murdered...

Will buy to use on PC. I hate keyboards for FPS but love the mouse. Currently using a PS Move Navigation controller for the job but the drivers are always a pain in the ass. This is a winner.

Most of these Mouse add ons never feel like the actual thing. It still feels like controlling with an analog stick and has lag and input delay. It never fully replicates the mouse feel.

Is there an fps that allows analog control, though? Afaik shooters only give you two fixed movement speed: walk and run. There's nothing in between.

I was thinking more in lines of TPSes, actually. Games like Resident Evil, Hitman, Tomb Raider, or even games like Dragon's Dogma, State of Decay or Dead Rising, where aiming isn't as common as in "proper TPSes", but it helps. I don't know why you assumed I was talking exclusively about FPSes.

Most FPSes that I've played do offer analog speeds. From what I've got installed right now, Fallout 4 does and Portal 2 does. IIRC, CoD and Battlefield also do. Maybe old FPSes like Deus Ex only had digital speeds, but most modern FPSes have analog controls.

There's some definite interest amongst my group of xim err old PC players on getting the Hori TAC Pro. Of my group about 1/4 preorder & expect delivery little time after PS4 Pro so like late Nov or early Dec. That sub group is praying latency advantage (Hori > xim) will be worth loss of using own mouse & mech keyboard & ST ballistic curves. I'm doubtful there's much if any latency advantage of the Hori over the xim & even if it's there I think it's maybe only tenth ms versus huge 100ms+ swing depending on server or who's host.

That said I'm looking forward to trying TAC Pro friend nearby is getting. I'm expecting its max latency advantage will be at ADS. Still can't imagine giving up xim & ability mix match my mice (g502, deathAdder) & kbs (Quickfire TK, Ducky Shine). I think it'll sell well as all my PC fps players most miss the upgrade bug & unless it's total dud all will eventually add TAC pro to arsenal. I'll be getting it for day 1 game releases & beta tests. Beta test can be bad as ST on xim not out yet. It put all of us off Titanfall 2 beta as its auto aim jacked up xim4 badly. If we had TAC Pro we'd used that & not worry about xim ST till after day 1 release. I expect use TAC Pro for all Betas & day 1 release excluding frostbite & idtech 3 games.

Is the mouse portion just going to emulate the right stick? If so it's probably going to handle really, really, badly on a proportion of games.

I seem to remember the PS3 Version of Unreal Tournament 3 (?) supporting mouse and keyboard?

It does, but these mouse adapters have gotten a lot more advanced than when they first came out. They have pretty in depth calibration that allows for high speed movements by putting the in game sensitivity super high while the software will slow down the input for fine aiming. It's still not a mouse but it's definitely better than an actual analog stick. You can look up some footage on YouTube and see people good with it and it's a lot more precise than people aiming with thumbsticks, despite emulating them.

The level playing field is dead.

This should be banned in the console sphere.

It is going to completely ruin multiplayer gaming, moreso than the extent that slightly-modified "Scuff" controllers ever did.

Hopefully this is regulated and not used in multi-games, or else pub stomping is going to be real on console.

I always thought about getting a XIM4 cause the multiplayer in Destiny just pisses me off to no end, but I just can't justify spending that money for a single console shooter.

I hope we get cheaper prices through better competition.

Lmao

Yall are super paranoid about a few people who might have this controller.

Honestly I don't think the controller/MKB gap would be all that big in most console games, especially given it's not perfect mouse control. It's not like trying to play Unreal Tournament PC or some other fast paced arena shooter on a controller with poorly optimized controls and no aim assist decades ago.

I played quite a bit of Titanfall on PC which included aim assist and such and had absolutely no problem at all competing and often being the top scorer. Obviously heavy aim assist etc. is not an ideal form of control, but it still exists.

Anyway I don't play enough multiplayer shooters these days to justify something like that, but yeah I'd be interested to try it out.

I play on PC though, only really buy CoD on console as far as multi-FPS goes.

It's not paranoid to see the advantage a mouse has over a controller.

Try playing literally any PC FPS with a controller and get back to me.

The scuff scene is big enough that if people buy into this it will make a difference.

I play mulitplayer games on console to avoid kb/m and I'm still not worried about this. The amount of people who will use this will be minuscule. Not enough to think that every game I play I'm gonna get wrekt by people using one lol.

I mean, that particularly controller looks ridiculous (5 shoulder buttons being controlled by 1-2 fingers?) but I've been playing Overwatch on PC with a mouse and PS3 Move Navigation controller and it's a million times better than having to use a goddamn keyboard with its 4 direction movement to control a character in a 3D space

I honestly wouldn't play many console FPS campaings if I didn't have my XIM. It's OP online as well, though I don't play multiplayer that much.

I wish Sony/MS just added optional official mouse/kb support for singleplayer only.
I wish Sony/MS would just allow M/KB support online and offline period. They are trying more and more to be PC's and there is a way to split the people online so it stays fair.

The reason i built a computer over the last couple of years is because of how much i hate using a controller in FPS games.

This sounds awesome. Know of any controller for PC that act the same way? Want something that acts like the left side of a controller L stick, L3, L1, L2, AND is very ergonomic. Preferably without a silly light bulb on top :P

Not sure what kind of advantage this is able to offer on console. Aim assist is on and can't be turned off in most cases. So aside from some increase in look speed it shouldnt be a big deal.

Literally a PS3 Move Navigation controller, not the one with the bulb on the top, this one:

It's a bit of a pain to set up, but use SCPDriver to get your PC to recognise it as a 360 controller (or at least half of one). That said it only works with games that support mouse and controller at the same time.

Is this something people would use? The body count in FPS games would be frighting.

You can get a xim right now and use KnM. Most games have limitations of what controllers can do and AFAIK xim does not bypass those limits. You're still stuck with aim assist and all those other movement limitations that controllers have. KnM vs controller on console =/= KnM vs controller on PC.

If that mouse has a precision comparable to a pc's mouse, absolutely.

It doesn't, it'll just emulate a right analog stick so it still has all of the wonky acceleration. Plus console auto aim that typically cannot be disabled.

This stuff has existed since the PS360 gen though, it's nothing new. Hell, people were playing with a mouse on PS3 CoD4.

I'd certainly rather use this than a keyboard. Serious question: is there currently a setup that uses an analog stick for movement and mouse for aiming outside of this for PC?
