New Matrix Trilogy Supposedly in the works

An adaptation of Second Renaissance wouldn't have anything to do with the actual Matrix. But I guess it could just be one out of three movies.

Just pull your heads out of your asses with the philosophy bullshit please.

Do you watch porn and then write the creators: "tone down the sexuality, please"?

Anyway, I am going to open some quality wine if this news gets confirmed.

Was the Matrix always planned out as a trilogy from the start? I've been of the belief that the original Matrix was just supposed to be a one off kind of thing and when it hit big the idea of a trilogy was then put out there. Which means, they had no clue what to do after the first one and made up a bunch of shit that turned out to suck in the following two.

If planned out as a trilogy from the start, it could be decent, I suppose.

It was always planned as a trilogy, but getting the greenlight for films 2 and 3 hinged upon the sucess of the first film.

Is there a source for this? And are we sure it's not just them saying "Oh yeah it was always planned as a trilogy" after the fact? Because I remember there being a lot of stuff talked about in the first movie that's completely dropped or changed in the second and third that made it feel like they didn't plan it from the beginning at all.

I recently re-watched the trilogy and I found it a lot better the 2nd time around. I would like to see another set of movies in the Matrix universe.

The precedent is already set within the movie universe as well.
Neo wasn't the first "one" so I think it's safe to say he won't be the last. Peace between humans and machines is already tenuous so the need for another "one" wouldn't be that outlandish.

edit:

?

I believe it was going to be a prequel and a sequel. The prequel became second renaissance. The sequel became 2 movies.

Movie 1: matrix and machines are created with hints of being self aware
Movie 2: matrix and machine uprising
Movie 3: human/matrix war, humans harvested, nuke the earth and the remaining go underground to rave

IMO we only needed the first matrix movie. Once neo became the one it was like turning on god mode in a game and the rest became uninteresting.

Second renaissance as 1 movie sounds good. 3 would just be full of filler. Why does everything need to be a trilogy? That's what killed the sequels.

That wouldn't agree with the current story.

Obviously you need to be an executive producer, because this idea is great.

Edit: NO.

first movie can not ever be repeated again... today you would know everything about the matrix before even seeing the movie so it would be nowhere as good.

With the way technology has advanced it might be cool to see a new higher resolution matrix movie.

Now let's see who they cast and if the scripts suck!

Can't get worse. They don't even have to go back and 'make it as good as the first one' and just make a new trilogy in the Matrix universe.

As long as it's nothing like the sequels.

How about A Bill and Ted, Matrix crossover?

Twice the Keanu.

Throw in Al Pacino as his devil character in Devil's advocate and have him say "hoo-haa" every time he scores a victory on the good guys.

V for Vandetta is glaring at yoy SO HARD right now. Also Speed Racer.

But yeah, Cloud Atlas was junk.

I loved Cloud Atlas. Speed Racer...not so much.

Also, to whoever said Cloud Atlas tanked, it cost around 100 million to make and went on to make around 130 million. So it's not huge profits, but by no means were they tanking or just breaking even.

Usually the studio will spend around what 50% of the budget was on the movie to market it. Thus if the movie cost 100mil, they might have spent $50mil to market it. Additionally, each theater gets a small cut of the movie profits. Furthermore, if whatever studio didn't have the distribution rights outside the U.S., they might have also lost money there.

But I know what youre saying.

Stinkles

Clothed, sober, cooperative
Keanu as villainous The One, corrupted by power.

Shia as The Many, powered by multiple personalities in his head.

Didn't the studio heavily interfere with the making of the second and third movies?

I remember hearing somewhere that they turned out a lot different than what the Ws had imagined them, or something to that effect.

Hopefully that sort of thing doesn't happen with this if they go forward.

Please be trolling. PLEASE

No. The first movie is the "wooaah" movie of our generation. However, it is bland, thematically, outside of that. When the wow-factor is gone, left is an introduction. The second and third movies have action that far outranks the first movie's, and they move to philosophical concepts a lot deeper than the first movie. Just take the talk about control, down in the maintenance area. Or the meeting with the Merovingian. Or how werewolves were introduced.

Sadly, Ghost had a lot of meaty philosophy stuff going on, but it's lost in a game so riddled with bugs it's hard to cope with. Toughing on the knowable, and past and the future, it's a marvel to watch. At any rate, the introduction of Neo as The One is about as meaningful to the trilogy as the introduction of Darth Vader in Episode III. The Architect, Bane, the eyes of the Oracle, Neo being in the train station. All of those are things that can still tickle my brain when I watch them, while being shown some fantastic action. That's why I take on watching the first movie as a necessary part of watching the trilogy. I'd rather just start on the second movie, really.

Just make it about the story presented in The Second Renaissance, and don't skimp on the startling imagery those shorts had. It may not be great, but it'd hold my interest more than another set of sequels would.

Exactly. I already consider the first one to be the only "real" one. No reason not to at this point, I'll probably watch at least the first to check it out. Let's do this.

I love when people discount part of a singular story just because they don't like it. You'd never hear someone say The Fellowship of the Ring is the only "real" Lord of the Rings book just because they didn't like the other two books Tokien wrote.

Wachowskis have become to the Matrix what Lucas is to Star Wars. We're thankful, but stay on the sidelines please.

For me, the only interesting thing is the Wachowskis involvement. Much like Star Wars VII loses a bit of appeal due to the exclusion of Lucas.

In order to be good they would have to find a way to resurrect Neo and probably Trinity too and actually complete the story this time by taking the fight directly to the Machines.

Honestly though this sounds like Ghostbusters 3 style wishful thinking.

I love the universe, but the last couple of films disappointed me a lot. Here's hoping they turn out well if this is true.
