Sincerely,

NINTENDO OF AMERICA INC.

The Online Group

it's not just an online survey, it's about online gaming in particular. though, who's taken their GBA:Sp online?

Please note the series it asks specifically which you'd like to play online from Nintendo.

Zelda + Smash Bros. for the win.

Which, if any, of the following Nintendo series would you like to play over the Internet (online gaming)? Please check all that apply.
Animal Crossing series
The Legend of Zelda series
Mario Kart series
Mario Party series
Metroid series
Super Smash Bros. series
Pokemon series
Other
None of these games

Zelda online? Metriod online? Yay!.1>!>!

Also, a strange question about whether you'd like to be able to create your own online screen name, or select one from a list. Maybe they are thinking of doing away with all the "bluntmasta32", and other offensive names. They also threw in a question regarding the exclusivity of names. In other words, two people might be able to have the same name.

Seems Nintendo is really starting to gear up for their online service.

they dont know by now? :lol

i mean for real. i'm choosing smash bros and mario kart.

I saw that, but what the heck would you play Zelda onl...oh, Four Swords. Well I was looking at it like the upcoming GC game, not that. der.

EDIT: you had better be talking about Four Swords, at least.

A MMORPG in the Zelda setting would rock...humans,zoras,kokiri kids, gorons, etc.

No one could be Link of course...:P

The part that asks if choosing your own username is important to you was kind of interesting. As in, they might go with a system where you have to choose a name from a list; seems like that's something Nintendo might go with, to keep things more "family-friendly".

i always thought they would do this, i also expect there to be no direct way to communicate other than choosing prefab phrases or actions that you string together. I think they will do it in a way that you can actually communicate effectively, though.

If that's true about the communicating, -1000000 DS headset sales.

.... ever heard of Four Swords?

no just no. It'd be a franchise ruiner.

4 swords is an okay title. I hope they don't make too many more. Leave it to DS. Online takes away the connective being in the same room fun that the Nintendo multiplayer games possess. I don't even think SSMB wil work that well. Its too chaotic and over too fast.

Mario Kart, the sports Marios.

New Stuff

I'd like Nintendo to branch out and try new things.

Give us an original action, adventure, or FPS.

Retro would be perfect for any of these things.

Pokemon Online RPG is all I want.

Please Nintendo, give me this game and I can die in peace.

Are you kidding me? Four swords online would be amazing! Maybe not to play it with random strangers, but people you've met and know online... I don't know maybe from GAF? (That's just an example, I'm sure the lot of you have chats or some sort of group of people you could play with)

The whole problem with four swords now is finding 3 people to play with, online would solve it.

no zelda or metroid online, unless you come up with some unique multiplayer mode that fits the single player themes and gameplay ideas...

mario kart, smash brothers and animal crossing are good online games, also there is a perverse part of me that would like to deathmatch with mario, jumping on peoples heads in a platforming environment.

I missed Pokemon. :lol yeah. killer app. I think the online arena type games only work for:

driving
FPSes
MMORPG.

everything else loses immediacy.

Can others take the survey ?
erm, maybe not. I dunno how they did it, I'm in another browser right now so it can't be a cookie...

I'm hoping that since we're close to E3 and their online announcement this will have something to do with that.

Co-op action/adventure games can be great fun online. Ever heard of Survival Project? I doubt it's still around but you could google it. It was amazing fun for awhile.

Edit: Look at Gunbound (here) this game would be absolutely fantastic on DS.

I wouldn't mind a classic Mario Bros.-style online game.

I got the same email
I did not check legend of zelda, that should remain a single player game

But games like Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and Super Smash Brothers would be nice online.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Mario platformer online.

One person as Mario, the other as Luigi. Both make their way through classic Mario levels remodelled and redesigned for next gen. Each player has a specific ability (similar to Mario Bros 2) that helps the other player advance through the levels.

I love Nintendo games, but I'm getting really sick of the same old.

Metroid would be great online if it wasn't so much like Hunters. Deathmatch is 1990's NINTENDO.

Nintendo needs some good action franchises online.

Pokemon, would make a great MMORPG.

so something like Mario Splinter Cell? not so much the stealth thing but the helping teammates along thing. They could even make it kind of like Mario 64 DS where Luigi is the gate guy, Mario is the flying guy, etc.

Exactly, Chaos Theory is probably the best example I could think of.

They should bring back the classic Mario Bros (platformer) battle mode while they are at it.

The problem with this survey is that there's too much of the "same stuff" vibe.

They could revive Car Combat. ;)

FUCKING RIGHT THEY SHOULD!

I can't take the survey, the link is a-no working.

Mario Kart is a must.
Mario Party would be a great time waster.
Four Swords I'm down with.

Prime Hunters BETTER be. Nintendo can just change "Deathmatch" to like "Challange Time!" or "Survival Match" or something else non-death related.

Like " Gun Tag " mode, heh

Will we see a Nerf fps online for DS :lol ?

Ugh god no, I played Quake years ago.

Retro should make a Galactic Fed. Troopers VS Space Pirates mode.

That would be the shit.

IMO the best way to do metroid online would be...

1 player as samus

everybody else as space pirates

samus starts with no powerups

each match, the location of powerups is shuffled (to keep the exploration factor)

big levels with a smaller number of players to slow down the pace.

that might work, but in general i wish they would just leave metroid offline.

I'm pretty sure the surveys were sent out to individual e-mail addresses. The numbers at the end track the people who took it, which is why the initial link indicates it's already been done. The people who have been changing the numbers on the end are just taking away the opportunity to take the survey from people who were e-mailed the links with those numbers on the end.

That's not a bad idea, I wouldn't mind seeing the following:

1) Morphball Racing
2) Morphball-ONLY Deathmatch
3) Regular Deathmatch (Hunters)
4) Galactic Fed Troopers VS Metroids (Metroids suck the lifeforce out of Troopers LOL)
5) Galactic Fed Troopers VS Space Pirates (each side has specific vehicles and abilities)
6) Last Woman Standing (Samus VS Metroids [all players] / Samus VS Space Pirates [all players])

Too bad you don't work for Retro. I bet they'll just do MP2E's multiplayer and make it online.

Mmm, I'll take this as good news for N5, especially if they actually take note of what is said. Online AC, Metroid, Mario Kart and SSB? Awesome.
