that would be the point then.
Yep, I mean from a consumer point of view. Sony can reduce cost with a new model but that not necessay means it will be traslate to consumers
that would be the point then.
So going to 22/20nm isn't going to make a huge difference, right?
Maybe this new model has no disk drive and is purely a PS Now device.
Vita TV's PS4 remote play functionality is now live As of 4 days ago Vita supports PS4 game streaming so also PS Now but no decision on it's coming to the US as Vita TV.That's what VitaTV is for.
Hey my thread from last weekend about the PS3 base model being virtually sold out was referenced! LoLz
What I don't get is if you can shrink the internals on PS3 why would you stick with the presumably larger casing of the current super slim as that would just use more plastic and cost more than a smaller design with less plastic. Plus wouldn't the shrink of components mean a smaller fan as well?
Not that I'm an expert on how much a smaller PS3 case using less materials would save on bom over the current super slim casing.
one would argue...the slimmest (cheapest) one was the ugliest.

What can they possibly do to the PS3. My Super Slim(model CECH-4201B) has silent fans even after hours of playing a game like The Last of Us. Maybe they can bring back the slot loader.
plus his previous form was ugly as hell

So just hope for the best, a smaller, cheaper, good looking PS3
So would it be possible to get the PS3 close to get close to the PS2 slim? Or is that impossible
The slimmest PS3 can´t get cheaper, can it? It´s made cardboard and tape lol.

I wouldn't expect any major revision, but maybe a slight styling variation like the early PS2 slim to the later one?

Because the Superslim desperately needs to do something different with its styling. Just losing the ridges would do wonders.

Super Slim has 45nm Cell and 40nm RSX.
They were shrunk down to 22nm and 28nm last year and as of yet haven't featured in a retail model.
The shrinkage is great for cooling, power consumption and saving Sony money.
The first difference between the CUH-11XXA and the original CUH-10XXA model appears to be in its WLAN transceiver component (basically the Wi-fi part). While the basic specs are the same the original Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) has been replaced with an Inverted-F Antenna (IFA).
The documentation also shows differences between the original model of the WLAN component and Bluetooth component in maximum peak output power and other tidbits, suggesting that the components may have been switched with new ones.
While no further differences are included in the documentation of the FCC, this doesnt necessarily mean that there arent more. The FCC purposely certifies radio emissions, so other components simply arent part of its focus.
A new PS3 slim with PS2 b/c.
It just has to be!
Yes please. Also, what are the smallest physical dimensions needed to fit a Disc Drive, 2.5" HDD, and Internal PSU into a frame for a new PS3? Probably including the fan and chipset too that is. The PS4's late year pricing is going to be insanely low isn't it? The HDD will probably be the most expensive part.Upgrade to 5GHz Wi-Fi?
The article says that the maximum clock frequency is 2.75 GHz. Is that only for Devs?
Upgrade to 5GHz Wi-Fi?
Oh man I just thought of something.
What if the new PS3 could steam PS4 games through WiFi like the Vita TV?
Well if this happens, I'd be a little pissed. What does that ultimately mean for people who bought the day one console?

Wouldn't a new PS4 model be a PS4 with a bigger hard drive? Just guessin.
But bring on dat sexy slimer PS3.
edit: Thinking about how small that PS2 slim was. Oh my god. The PS3 will never be that small. : (
I think it is waaay to early for a new PS4 model...
unless it just a memory upgrade

Hardware based ps2 emulation right? Right?
PS3 Go?I'd be into a 1TB PS3 model without an optical drive.
It's nearly been 10 years :
Nothing, unless you really really want to use 5 GHz WiFi. Honestly I'd hope they could improve the WiFi at least a bit by this point.
