Hahaha. Smooth filter uglyness is better looking than pixels? Nicely done! :lol
Oh what a trainwreck this thread is.

DS outclasses all of the 32bit machines in terms of 3D performance, and everything but possibly Saturn in terms of 2D performance. It's also got more RAM than any of those machines and 3DM media alleviates most of the trditionally inherent problems with cartridges. We're already seeing 64MB DS games sold for $19.99 new (GuruGuru Naget) and the capacities are basically doubling every 6-8 months. By 2008 we'll probably see 1GB+ DS cards as the norm, this media is poised to exceed CD-ROM's capacity ceiling sooner or later.Neutron Night said:I dunno, I haven't been paying much attention to portables (I do plan to get a PSP eventually, though). I was under the impression that the DS was roughly N64 level in power, so why would this even be an issue? Lack of CD storage and screen resolution still make it inferior to consoles from that era, though. But but but...TWO screens.
Oh, most certainly. Got it pre-ordered.Dragona Akehi said:Princess Peach is still going to rock though.

I never heard of this Peach game until right now. WHERE DID THE ROCK I WAS LIVING IN GO.
No, seriously. When was this announced?
Maybe in specs, but we haven't really seen real games proving this (okay maybe Mario 64 DS and...?).jarrod said:DS outclasses all of the 32bit machines in terms of 3D performance,
Show a launch period PS1/N64/Saturn game that looks better than Mario 64 DS or Feel the Magic.Jacobi said:Maybe in specs, but we haven't really seen real games proving this (okay maybe Mario 64 DS and...?).
Dragona Akehi said:Evidently an ugly filter applied to older sprite which get blown up to TV resolutions is better (or possibly equal to) than new, higher colour sprites that are made to look fantastic at their native resolutions since the screen is fixed. Let's not even touch frames of animation or background colour depth.

There is one pretty good reason why games like this should be made for DS instead of GBA. The GBA has absolutly shit sound! The GBA was ruined because of the lack of decent sound IMO.

If you watch that and don't want the game... I mourn for your soul

Neutron Night said:Ugly filter? :lol :lol Whatever. And with a resolution as low as what we're talking about here, color depth is hardly a huge deal.

And is that one layer of parallax? Let's hope not.

Oh really? What's the biggest cart out now?

3DM actually has 256 Megabyte carts at this time. The largest DS game through about June was 64MB. No word on how big any of the releases in the last 5 months or so have been.
What about Viewtiful Joe, ASH, Mario Basketball, and Final Fantasy III?Shikamaru Ninja said:Well as far as 3D is concerned. Only Nintendo has really been creating games that look N64/Above N64 quality 3D.
Neutron Night said:According to that poster, DS has been around long enough for the capacity to double at least once, even twice. So has it?
I'd say Square Enix, Sonic Team and Clover Studio are all making great looking 3D titles also. Just as good as the best from EAD and NST actually.Shikamaru Ninja said:Well as far as 3D is concerned. Only Nintendo has really been creating games that look N64/Above N64 quality 3D.
The technology doubles, though at launch the largest DS card was 32MB. If a tiny, budget publisher like Ignition can afford to release a 64MB game with a 250KB EEPROM for just $19.99 though, I'd suspect larger card sizes are probably available right now.Neutron Night said:According to that poster, DS has been around long enough for the capacity to double at least once, even twice.
