New Switch model planned for summer 2020

So for all intents and purposes, this is indeed a Switch Pro model. :messenger_sunglasses: :messenger_horns:
Chances this gets revealed on the next Nintendo Direct?
no they'd wait for a week before it was coming out and then drop a video on youtube. they don't want to advertise it too early and stop their sales.

Here it is, the pro version we all knew about. If it turns out to be real and it's a good upgrade from the OG, I'll go for it without thinking twice.

Apparently the case will use magnesium alloy and feature a new powerful cpu. The gpu is being kept under wraps.

Before anyone dog piles Dave, I like the guy. And this info is from the article.

So it looks like we'll get the Sharp IGZO screens, a magnesium alloy case, upgraded cpu and gpu. I can see this hitting
for $399
. Especially with my thinking PS5 and Xbox Series X will probably be $499/$599 minimum.

Unsure if these pictures are real but they're from this source:

Looks like a much smaller dock with wireless charging? Also more modernized look.

Edit: Nvm the images are a fake concept, misleading af :messenger_unamused:

All signs are pointing that way with the reported new Sharp IGZO Screen, bigger cart sizes just wondering what they are going to do with the SOC.

My bet is it'll be called Nintendo Switch Deluxe.
Kinda follows with the New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe

But kinda throws off their search engine game with all the "Deluxe Nintendo Switch Case" knockoffs that are out there

"Mystique"

"According to code we examined within the latest SHIELD Experience software, a new desktop-mode software feature is in-development for a new product code-named "mystique." Furthermore, source code published online by NVIDIA reveals some possible hardware specifications for "mystique," suggesting it could be a 2-in-1 PC like the Microsoft Surface Book. "

".. code from the SHIELD TV's latest software releases points to a new software feature code-named "NvDtExp," likely short for NVIDIA Desktop Experience. This software feature is almost certainly not intended for the existing SHIELD TV products. It is also highly unlikely for NVIDIA to upgrade its existing tablets with this feature, given that it's been over a year since they last released an update for the SHIELD Tablet K1. Lastly, the code makes many references to the product code-named "mystique," which suggest the new feature is intended for this new product."

"The code was first discovered by a custom ROM developer who shared his findings with XDA-Developers. We confirmed the presence of this code, which seems to handle the switching between UI modes for NVIDIA Desktop Experience, in production builds of SHIELD Experience dating back to December of 2018 and continuing into the latest SHIELD Experience 7.2.3 release from last month. Although SHIELD Experience 7.2 was the first release containing the desktop mode switcher code, we suspect that NVIDIA has developed this feature for months before its first appearance in a public release."

"From the code, we can confirm several details about the SHIELD Desktop Experience feature. First, there are 3 supported UI modes: Dynamic, Tablet, and Desktop."

"There are mentions of start menu visibility and mouse hover control for the desktop UI mode. Other aspects of SHIELD Desktop Experience that we see in the current firmware include the ability to set a UI mode on boot, start desktop mode if a keyboard is attached, and intercept certain button combinations to show the status bar, show the power menu dialog, close active windows, or toggle full-screen mode."

"The "mystique" code-name fits NVIDIA's pattern of using Marvel character names. For instance, the SHIELD Portable was originally code-named "thor," though it was later changed to "roth." "WX," or Weapon X, and "SB," or Songbird, have also been used in the past. On the TV front, we've seen code-names like "blake," "jarvis," "pepper," "thunderstrike," "darcy," and "foster." Thus, spotting "mystique" in public source code is what first tipped us off about the possibility that it's an in-development product, but it was our discovery of the SHIELD Desktop Experience feature that really connected the dots. "

"At one point, NVIDIA was developing "mystique" with the Tegra X2 (t186), but more recent commits showed "mystique" in the device tree for the Tegra Xavier (t194.) The Tegra Xavier is a large, high-performance chip intended for automotive and AI computing, as seen on the Jetson AGX Xavier module released in late 2018. The Jetson can operate at a lower 10W power profile compared to a maximum 30W, so likewise "mystique" will be running at lower power, if it is indeed powered by the Xavier SoC. In contrast, the SHIELD Tablet K1 is powered by the 2014 Tegra K1 while the canceled 2016 SHIELD Tablet, code-named "hawkeye," was expected to launch with the Tegra X1 like the Nintendo Switch and SHIELD Android TV. Having the Tegra Xavier would make "mystique" NVIDIA's most powerful consumer product, but again, we have to stress our uncertainty in our knowledge of its hardware specifications given that the code we spotted may not reflect the current status of the product."

Honestly I'd be happy with enough of a power increase to lock dynamic Res games at 720 handheld. Shouldn't be out the realms of possibility as I believe an overclocked first gen switch can get pretty close to this.

1080p screen (it's 2020, c'mon), analogs that don't suck, and a real D-pad please and I'd likely be in.

Actually I hope it's the Switch XL. I want a tablet sized Switch.

Maybe the magnesium alloy is being used to make a stiffer frame in order to support a larger screen.

I'll do it as long as it's still a dock-able portable. If they go with another portable only like the Lite or a console-only, I will likely stick with my launch version.

I'm OK with a bigger screen but nothing too crazy, if they manage to fill the void the bezels on the OG Switch currently have or maybe a slightly bigger 1080p screen.

I personally hope they got CRAZY with it. Give me a Switch on something the size of an iPad Pro.

I only ever use my Switch mounted to my car's dash, with the Pro controller. Give me something bigger to look at, and I'll be happy.

I want a 10" screen. Don't care about resolution so much except I guess they should up it a bit for a bigger screen.

I'll probably stay with what I have now until it breaks. Unless they have a deal where you could trade in your old model for $200 off or something.

If it's a Switch Pro I'll give mine to my GF and buy this. Hell she uses mine more than I do already anyway.

I could see a cpu upgrade and some screen enhancements with bluetooth support finally added.

But correct me if I'm wrong, there isn't anything from Nvidia GPU wise to upgrade from the X1?

pretty sure the switch chip still uses maxwell ( 900 series ) architecture. so there would be HUGE gains by going Turing/Amphere

But in terms of keep compatibility they would need to stay with Maxwell wouldn't they? Which the X1 is their only chip that would fit in a smaller device like the switch.

I'm all for it if it means that the Switch can run games properly for a change. The performance issues have become pretty glaring.

Easy there guys, while I love a good quality big screen anything like the size you guys want gets too unwieldy to use as a handheld that is unless they go back to a clamshell form factor.

Well they could make custom SoC with faster cpu and more modern+faster GPU borrowing tech from mobile gpu's, but we know that nintendo wants to get cheapest stuff they can, so it wont happen.

On tegra lineup there aint much room for improvement as those newer chips arent made for gaming in mind.

And they have to think backwards compability so probably just faster cpu like new 3ds had

They look and run fine on a 1080p Television.
Yeah, no. Many games are not native 1080p. Each to his own, but to me that really doesn't look fine.

Anyway that's kind of beside the point - I really can't see the benefit of a higher resolution screen if the games aren't rendered in that native, higher resolution, is my point.

Nintendo Switch Advance

I want:
Hard Drive support
Ethernet port
Joycons with Dpads

That would be "Pro" enough for me.

Pascal is basicly Maxwell but at a smaller node. Touring is also pretty similar. I dont think it would be hard to do. I mean, yeah it would be work, but for a new console release? In that term, it would be easy. Ampere is still unknown so maybe there would be big diffrences there. But i honestly doubt it. Refinements? sure, big overall structrure changes? unlikely imo.

mY 10 yr old can handle an iPad. I think I will be ok. Also they already have a Switch Lite for your kind. :)

If existing games are improved with more powerful hardware then I'm definitely going to get it.

Not the same with controls slapped on the side, I tried using a tablet in that same exact way with a telescopic controller and man it was awkward.
