Tomb Raider fans were happy to hear that 2018s Tomb Raider film would be getting sequel. Alicia Vikander will return as Lara Croft and Ben Wheatley is taking over for director Roar Uthuag. The film is scheduled to begin production in April and release on March 21, 2021. Filming is set to take place in England, South Africa, Finland and Beijing. We reported a while back that the sequel is looking to implement more of the supernatural elements from the video games that fans love so much.

We have gotten some more details regarding the sequel. We are being told that much like the first movie was based on 2013s Tomb Raider, with parts of Rise of the Tomb Raider mixed in, the sequel will be based on both Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Though it is not much, fans of the video games should enjoy this news. We have also been told that more casting news will be coming soon.

Thanks mods for the title update🥂

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
I actually thought Shadow of the Tomb Raider was outstanding, despite some really tedious platforming.

The movie was pretty terrible, but in a good way.

Dont know if the OP is on a wind up today, but i read the thread title and was expecting news on a new Tomb Raider game. And he did another thread about an hour ago titled 'Oblivion Remastered trailer', and it turned out to be bloody mods lol.

True. She's not fit to be Lara. Too flat to fill the part.

She can be sexy given the right role like the one from this movie:

I don't know man. Her looks tells me something like "I'm 18, I don't want to be a virgin anymore" :D

wasn't fussed on the last Tomb Raider movie and I wanted to like it, hopefully the next one will feel more fun

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
I'd like to see a good, high budget movie of Metal Gear Solid.

You don't even have to write it. For the most part it's already written.

Get Kojima on board and make a great movie, I think it would do well.

loved the OG Tomb Raider games. also enjoyed the films. you can't stop Angelina Jolie. well maybe you could but they don't even want to try.

i played the reboot games, really enjoyed them all. great stuff. god awful stories tho. i started skipping cutscenes and i never do that.

haven't seen the first reboot movie yet, no desire to. i like Lara as uber confident James Bond style globe trotter. new Lara just doesn't work for me.

“You can’t play the part because your breasts aren’t big enough” is a supremely dumb take. This isn’t porn, you can easily find that if you want to.

I was a bit skeptical of Vikander going into the last movie since she doesn’t really look like Lara Croft much. She did a really good job with the character though. I’d watch another movie.

The first movie wasn't very good (I wish it stuck to the plot of the game actually)... but Alicia Vikander is stunningly beautiful and made a good nu-Lara IMO. I'll probably watch this.

Can someone bulk her up for real? She went from someone who got her ass kicked 5 seconds into the movie to a straight up Special Forces killer in the span of 40 minutes. Me and my mate laughed our ass off most of the movie.

Was the 2018 movie successful? I know the Angelina Jolie movies back in the day did pretty well (at least the first one).

I wasn't a fan of the previous movie. Not to the same extent that I enjoyed the slightly-campy Jolie movies. Vikander is a good actress...good enough anyway. I've liked her in other roles. I just think there needs to be more gun-slinging for her, and the exploration bits for her need to be more fantastical ala Indiana Jones. The Jolie movies did a good job of making the puzzle-solving more of a spectacle. The Vikander movie was just kinda meh all-around. They probably wasted too much time on the stupid bike chase through NYC, at the start. That's not Vikander's fault, but the production team's.

Alicia is definitely miscast. She's a good actress and also hot (go watch ex machina), but she just doesn't look like Lara Croft

To be honest, I thought the last film was pretty entertaining. I welcome another Tomb Raider film.

I think it was better than the originals with Angelina, which were blown out exactly just because of her - Angelina this, Angelina that, her reunion with her father, and what's not, all the marketing hovered around her persona rather than the move itself, which was just a decent, mediocre action move, nothing more, same for the 2018 one, except this one wasn't blown out of proportions.

This and uncharted are some of the most overrated games ever.

Uncharted isn't overrated at all. People just hop on the bandwagon and say it's amazing without actually giving a shit or understanding what make it so special. Amy Hennig gets my ultimate suck off. I don't think that most people understand that those games are supposed to be extremely cliche and semi predictable. Not only that but each iteration has pushed console graphics technology to the absolute limit.

Like the fact that I can go watch Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Baby Secret of the Lost Legend and play through similar situations and find similar themes is incredible.

Edit: Tomb Raider on the other hand has strayed from it's unique platforming game play of the PS2 era and instead tried to copy Uncharted with sub-par results.

The movie was okay, bring on the sequel. And I like that it's going to be more supernatural than the previous movie.

The first one was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, the 'actress' was as wooden as the plank she resembles..

...and they even stupidly failed to properly translate the game to film, deliberately removing any supernatural elements from a story thats entire point was 'bloody hell, magic is real?!?!'.

It was dreary, joyless and missing the point of both Lara Croft and what people love about Tomb Raider, even more than the last couple of games have, which is the only impressive thing about it.

I have no doubt this sequel will also be shit.
