Right...so all we have to go on is our personal reactions to how it looks. Clearly, some people don't like the effect/textures/whatever. Is that a problem?

Honestly, I feel like some of these threads should be titled "New [blank] screens, please don't come in if you are going to say mean things about them".

It's not about that. I think people expect WAY too much.

It is what it is. Does it look better than anything else out there currently? I would say hell yes - so the bitching about it I think is pretty silly.

Maybe it's because they went overboard when modelling the tree..... I'm sorry to say to some of you but most trees trunks are straight.

That logic is what's silly. Just because it looks better than what we have now automatically means we shouldn't be able to complain? Using this line of thinking the idea of "expectations" is practically obsolete.

As I said before, some decent textures would be nice. If the textures in these scenes were upgraded, I would not call the scene perfect, but I would appreciate it a lot more.

That's certainly possible -- even probable. It doesn't apply to all the detractors, though (I'd like to think that I'm not so jaded as to dismiss everything out of principle, for instance, and I think there have been plenty of instances on these boards where I admired graphical work).

I think it's just a matter of this particular scene and some of the flaws in it; certainly I've seen much better use of this engine elsewhere.

Simply because, the trees don't look very good in the scene pictured. I and others have pointed it out... However DrC. pointed out that this might not be an Earthly world... so I retract my shape comment and stick with the leaves .
