New Wipeout & Medievil PSP screen ?

Whoa, now I look at it, the clipping on that second bend in the distance is fucking terrible. You can see the sky where there should be road.

Um you must not understand what you are looking at. There is no clipping there it draws until the turn away just as it should. I think you need some better spatial perception or take a few seconds more and really think about what you are looking at.

Actually if it isn't brought over where can I buy the import online? Like is there a euro import site similar to play-asia?

All I have to say in regards to a new Medievil is... "it's about f-ing time!" I loved the first one.

Reasons to own a PSP +1.

Jeez... how can people still be fooled by enhanced screens in this day and age? The WipEout screens aren't even 480x272.

how many fucking times do you have to troll psp threads?

fyi there are movie clips of these games, which I'm currently d/ling.

Enhanced or not, DM215 has played it and said in that other thread that it looks nearly identical to these screens. Video certainly confirms what he's saying btw.

Yes, and Xbots used to say that DOA3 looks exactly like the hi-res screens on a prog scan tv. Obviously, it looks nearly identical. The screens are snapped from the actual game... but at a much higher resolution.

*cough*

Watch the video, chief. It looks identical to those pics.

(trying SO hard to resist wanting a PSP so far)

Wipeout to me has always been a big TV experience though...

(yeah, that should do it, phew that was a close call!)

Oh, DAMNIT, PSP has video out, right?

*sigh* Not this again... the WipEout screens have been captured at a higher resolution to improve IQ and increase visible details. Yes the game will look somewhat similar... but not identical. Those screens are 600x340 whereas the PSP screen is 480x272. So the resolution will be lower and you'll have more edge and texture aliasing.

Watch. The. Video. It proves you wrong on every level. If you're not going to watch the video, then get quiet until you have a leg to stand on.

I don't need to watch the video. The PSP has a fixed pixel display so we know the resolution of the screens are wrong and I very much doubt that WipEout will feature SSAA.

Wow, Wipeout looks great...along with the promises of it being more like the original games (rather than following Fusion) my interest for PSP just increased quite a bit. One of the most interesting games for PSP so far, no doubt.

Ah, cybamerc. Since the video proves you wrong, from here on out you now have zero credibility to speak on this issue!

Congratulations, you get a half baked cookie!

For once I agree with cybamerc on a PSP topic.

Although the screens look fabulous, the fact is that the PSP's LCD screen is 480x272. That's it--there's no debate, it's a fact. Any PSP screen that's not 480x272 cannot be considered an accurate representation of what you'll see on a PSP screen. While the game might look close enough to what is in the picture, the fact is that what is in the picture is not a PSP screen shot.

You simply have no idea what you're talking about. Don't worry about it... it's something that confuses most people.

I want see what Devil May Cry will be, as well as what the MG Acid will be like..

and a fresh new Castlevania would be nice..

Your assertion: Wipeout will not look that good on PSP screen or in motion.

The truth: While is is true that the screenshots are not 480x272, the videos prove that Wipeout Pure does, in fact, look nearly identical to the quality in those screenshots.

The conclusion: While you may wish it did not look near as good as those shots, it does... and the video proves it.

Considering the PSP screen is smaller than what the capture suggests, the game will actually LOOK better on the PSP. Which means cybamerc's troll backfired.

Anyway, watch the video and be quiet. Seriously, to say the game in motion doesn't look as good, if not better, than those screens is outright trolling.

SCEE needs to release Singstar games for PSP :/

Especially for not even bothering to look at the video.

CoLD SToRAGE is back though.. or that's what i've heard anyway.

It has to be true...IT HAS TO BE!!! The music made by Cold Storage in Wipeout 2097 rocked, but what they created for the first WipEout is seriously some of the best game music ever (at least in its genre). For years, I had a cassette tape with Wipeout music I listened to everytime I went a longer trip. And I never grew tired of it. Cold Storage made better songs than any of the licensed artists as far as I'm concerned. Now I have to find my Wipeout disc.

That is fucking awesome. Dammit, if that's a progressive feed, then that would look nice on my 19" monitor. It would be like a shrunk down PS2 screen then I think. That's also kinda pointless for a handheld. :lol PEACE.

EDIT: Still no confirmation of game share in RR? That would be really cool.

If they have PVD and Sasha doing the soundtrack again I'll buy a PSP and Wipeout so fast your head'll spin (I'll still probably buy it anyways even if it doesn't :P)

Are we sure that they are just playing off the PSP development kits?
Not unless the dev kit is also handheld. There was a pic of someone with the PSP connected to a monitor via a cable. The first I've seen of that, but seems there's some sort of video out on the device itself. Looked like the lower right hand side. PEACE.

The original spec's way back when first revealed had video out on the list, has that feaure since been removed or did we all just forget about it?

16:9-format widescreen TFT LCD (480x272 pixels, 24-bit full color)
MPEG4 AVC decoder
Wireless LAN (802.11)
IrDA (Infrared Data Association)
USB 2.0
Memory Stick
AV in/out
Stereo headphone out
Lithium ion battery
Expansion port

Whats so impressive about Wipeout??? I mean now that we have seen other PSP softwre all of these games look like CRAP! I only hope that the Japanese devs keep pumping games out out because so far the US and Euro games look like CRAP!

Edit: Watched the videos 30fps Wipeout is even MORE crapy! The backgrounds look so bland too. Medievil, is it a port or a remake. looks like a remake, CRAP!

What so funny? Why do you think Wipeout looks great or whatever. I am really interested in the interest in this game, looks lame!

Wipeout has an amazing style, generally European games are more polished than their US counterparts (at least I think so)... And they're known for having amazing soundtracks. If you're not really into club/rave culture you probably won't give a shit about this game.

Let's put aside that this game takes after Wipeout 1/3/20, three of the greatest futuristic racing games ever. Let's put that aside. Let's put aside the amazing quality of the screens which to some doesn't indicate the quality of the actual Wipeout visuals. Let's put aside the amazing video which displays it in all its grandeur.

Why are people interested in it? Because it's super fast paced, offers weapon based vehicular racing combat (like a more fast paced version of Mario Kart, except... crazier), implements the new weapons for energy strategy system, has incredible visuals, a potentially awesome soundtrack, and much, much more.

The fact that you think it "looks lame", however, just indicates you're beyond reach; you have your blinders on. I'd love to hear you insult the visuals when you put this bad boy next to any game on a certain Nintendo handheld. But then there's no accounting for artistic direction, eh non?

Ok I can understand that if this was Wipout 2 or Fusion we were talking about here, but this looks the same and the framerate looksreally slow, maybe they were not in the pirhana circut with the fastest car but it looked SLOW!! Also the craft dont look that interesting any more. They worked back in the early days of 32bit but come on.

Dude, did you watch the video, there was no "Super Speed". Also I am not talking about the DS right now, there is nothing near Wipeout on the DS. I am speaking strictly about other PSP games. You sound like the "Fan Boy" with blinders on, jumping to concclusions for no reason.

But even by PSP standards this game looks fantastic. Wipeout has a decent sense of speed, and I thought the video did an "average" job of showing that.

Wipeout series isn't as fast as the F-Zero series, but it still decimates most racing games in that respect. Name me some racers that move faster. (other than F-Zero GX)

Trying to download the Wipeout video, but it's so freaking slow. It's been a couple of minutes and I'm only at 19%.

Am I the only one that thinks those Wipeout screens look ugly? Where's the gorgeous art style and HUD from Wipeout 3? Where's Designer's Republic? Those screenshots look like Generic-Futuristic-Racer-X.

No I said the same thing, watch the video over at IGN, it runs slow too. Well, slow compared to other Wipeout games. Any true wipeout fan would not stand for anything less than Wipeout 3 is not good enough. Plus like I said before, its time to redsign the cars, this is not 1994/95 anymore. The systems can do more!
