I'm" sorry I'm" not following. Are you saying Takahashi had this premise laid out 20 years ago or are you saying Kodama/Naka did? Regardless, my statement wasn't meant to hold much weight, just a mere observation based off casual semblances.

That premise is from Xenogears Perfect works, which basically outlines how they wanted the series to go before Square pulled the plug.
 
I hope NoE handle the localisation again. They did a great job on Xenoblade. Don't want NoA muscling in and americanising this one just because of what looks like a US flag on the ship. No offence colonials :P

Nintendo will re-release XenoPerfect Works, HD remakes of Xenogears, Xenosaga 1-3, and Xenoblade in preparation for Xenogears Episode 1.

Also, HD remakes of Baten Kaitos (with new English VOs) and BKO to get ready for Baten Kaitos 3.

Also, Disaster gets an eShop release.

On that note, I've seen people say that the localisation was supposedly happening in tandem with development, but I've never seen a source. Does anyone have one? If they really are working on it at the same time as development, it may well have a shot at coming out in the West 2014. Maybe.

These aren't always updated/accurate, I'd put more weight in Iwata's lack of commitment in the Nintendo Direct. It's not uncommon for games to be delayed or dropped entirely (not that I expect it to happen here, but it has happened) on those release schedules.

Or you know, you could believe that what's been published by Nintendo is what they intend until they say otherwise... going off personal intuition 'just cause' is a bit of a reach.
 
I honestly think with everything we've discussed in this thread that there's a better chance it IS Episode 1 (even if a "reimagining") rather than its NOT Episode 1.

I'd love if NoE did the translation again, but I have doubts about that for some reason. I just have a feeling we'll be hearing the typical crew (Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, Liam O'brien, etc). Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy those VAs - they generally do fantastic jobs, but... I hear them everywhere. I just got through listening to Liam in Bravely Default actually. He does a great job, but he usually sounds just like Caius and Weiss, lol.

And X adds 4 players to the battle system over 3. Along with short and long range weaponry. Not to mention mother fucking mechs.

Pied Piper and Missing Year are now part of episode 2 & 3, Mitsuda scores both with Joanne Hogg ending themes, Tanaka designs, can filtered voice acting in BK1 is gone, Soma Bringer is released in English on eshop
 
I have no expectation of this having anything to do with the Xenogears or Xenosaga timeline, but how cool would it be if they called it Xenogias? Or if if the theory of planet colonization is true, why not Xenogaia?

I think the game looks great anyway, and I'm really excited for it. I can't wait to see Tanaka's contributions as well since I found the character designs of Xenoblade to be pretty uninteresting.
 
Reading this thread has been thoroughly... I don't know.

- game is nothing to be excited about, because it's just "Xenoblade with mechs" (and all the other "I don't get the excitement" variants)
- people that couldn't be arsed to look into the game they were hyping and are now disappointed it plays like its predecessor, a fact we've known for over a year now
- the lack of understanding of what goes into competent art direction
- the flaunting of nonexistent sales knowledge
- incessant whining (by certain individuals) about Takahashi's writing style shift
- the superficial Monster Hunter comparisons by people who've played neither Xenoblade (or any other JRPG, by the looks of things) nor Monster Hunter
- comments about this being an MMO
- disingenuous remarks of haphazardly stitched-together MMO combat regarding both Blade and X
- the concept of online co-op in a JRPG eluding the minds of the uninitiated

Unpleasant is probably the most polite way to describe my experience here thus far.
 
Have to agree; I was super-happy on the night of the Direct, then came to this thread the next morning and got all depressed.

But yeah, you shouldn't take internet comments too seriously : P

Also, would be stoked if this game is indeed a 2014 release, but not holding my breath... much.
 
At the very least all this attention to it is confirmation that it will be getting an American release, and won't require Gamestop to publish.. because while I am glad they did.. fuck those guys.
 
Dumb complaints are obviously dumb, but I think it's fairly reasonable to be disappointed that we weren't given a more in depth look into the game's setting, story and characters.

I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case scenario, the way I see it, is that we see the game at the beginning of 2015 (and this is a very pessimistic prediction). People shouldn't look at the lack of info as an indication of a delay. From the way they've spaced the footage we've been shown so far, it's clear they intend for a full blow-out come E3 (in fact, I called that they weren't going to show an actual trailer in the ND thread).

I'm referring solely to the "dumb" comments, and not the disappointment stemming from not seeing anything in-depth. However, those of us paying attention to how they've handled exposing the game so far were able to tell that we weren't going to get substantial info this time around.
 
I honestly take Iwata's statement of showing more soon as meaning that we may possibly get a blowout of info soon mostly concerning the story.
 
I would definitely expect E3 to focus a lot on Zelda and X. The two games that could easily make people pay attention to Nintendo at E3.

Nothing said yet as far as I know. But seeing as how they basically got ignored last year by not doing a conference, it'd be a good idea for them to do so. Unless they have like... nothing to show. >_>;

They definitely have stuff to show. Even among stuff we know, that could easily fill a conference. And, being that it's Nintendo, there's always some secrets.

They def got alot of attention last year, enough so that they could hardly run their stream, smash's announcement apparently broke record viewers on ign's site.
 
I hate the fact that Nintendo might not have an E3 conference... they are always fun because of the crowd reactions. To think we may never have another Twilight Princess reveal situation saddens me.
