No it hasn't.
Jim won't like thisYoshi-P the true PS Showcase insider?
Given how Square has done things over the years. This is when they should announce Final Fantasy XVII.I hate this new trend of announcements of announcements.
I feel you, but in this case Yoshi P was asked a question, so he had to give an answer. Not really an announcement.I hate this new trend of announcements of announcements.
I feel like TGS came and went without anything really happening, for me at least.I wasn't counting on a PS showcase until this tbh.
If they didn't have a trailer for TGS but will have one next month, it has to be there...
They could well release the trailer by themselves (like they did with FF7 Rebirth) or within a SoP.I wasn't counting on a PS showcase until this tbh.

Chances of a full showcase this year are imo low after the meaty TGS SoP announcements that also covered a new GoW trailer.
The next big round of first party games, if we don't count PSVR2 games at the beginning of next year, are probably scheduled for the end of 2023 with Spiderman 2 and TLOU Factions (excluding surprises and smaller titles like Helldivers 2 ), so they probably think it's too soon.
There will definitely be more announcements this year through SoPs, TGA and publishers announcing stuff by themselves.
Sony at this point announces things when they want and feel ready.Even if its true that spider-man 2 is pushed and they don't have games until early or mid 2024 (unlikely) they would still show and reveal them now. They typically don't wait until the year before or the year of to announce big AAA games outside of remake and the ps5 launch.
We know they have helldivers 2, psvr2 and those games, Spider-man 2. FFXVI, and possibly 2 other games ready to go (firewalks game, GG's shooter, Pixelopus) and they possibly have more 3rd party and indie game deals set.
Sony never does any big announcements for TGA. We know at this point sony doesnt do big first party showcases in the beginning of the year so if its not next month its next fall again and they will need to market their 2023 line up

I don't think Spiderman will be delayed and I don't think that it's either now of next fall for a showcase.
It can be early next year, it can be E3 time, it's really when they feel they're ready.
We already know that TLOU Factions (or whatever will be the name) will get a trailer next year and that is one of the games that is probably far in development at this point so it would have made perfect sense for a showcase this year.
If they planned a showcase this year or soon, the TGS SoP would have been much weaker and it wouldn't have spoiled big partnerships or the new GOW trailer since those announcements made perfect sense for a full showcase.
Now we know that FFXVI is getting a trailer next month and it's probably being released by SE themselves otherwise they wouldn't spoil the specific time frame for a Sony event.
So yeah imo it's really likely that we'll get more announcements this year but not a full showcase.
Unfortunately I don't think so.They could have always had a showcase ready for next month. Theres no way they can wait until october to start really going all out with God of War marketing, even September was pushing it. Odds are it will be just like it was last year, where if they do a showcase they probably wont do another big god of war thing for it like how they didn't include horizon in last years showcase. God of War will probably be getting constant marketing form this point out outside of it.
And yeah, i don't expect them to reveal gameplay for Spider-Man 2 in a state of play or anything thats not a showcase lol. That is their biggest game release so far this generation, its not being marketed on its own off the bat. They will use the tease of Spider-man 2 to market PSVR2 and other games along with it.
If sony release 3-4 AAA games next year and they're all shown in just state of plays i will eat my hat.
First party they're not ready and they put in just GOW that is releasing soon and needs promotion.
All their studios are deep in the cooking stage right now and they don't feel confident in a forced showcase this year.
It's all speculation, all we can do.I dont understand how you or I could possibly know this lol
They have had at least 3 games in production since 2019…even stuff like Ghost of Tsushima if its on the same dev cycle as horizon and god of war it would be out in 2024, which means they could certainly tease it this year like they did for Rise of Ronin.
If we are even using 5 year dev cycles at most sony should have a bunch of games ready to be announced. For late next year or 2024, they aren't gonna wait until fall 2023 to announce a big release for Feb/March of 2024
It's all speculation, all we can do.
But your line of thinking is based on a clear false statement: "it's either now or next fall".
That is not true. They can do a showcase when they feel ready and nothing prevents them from waiting until next spring or E3 time.
A showcase this year doesn't match with what they have done at TGS, it doesn't match with third parties announcing stuff by themselves and it doesn't match with Naughty Dog having already announced that the next update from them will be next year.
We'll find out, I don't expect a showcase anymore this year, if it's happening I'll be positively surprised.
They can totally wait until E3 time (June) for the next full PlayStation Studios showcase.I'll put it like this, them having a showcase this year is far more likely to me than them having a first party showcase next spring
They can totally wait until E3 time (June) for the next full PlayStation Studios showcase.
The fact that you might not personally like this outcome doesn't make it impossible.
It's actually likely given that their next big round of games (excluding PSVR2 titles) will be holiday 2023 and 2024 titles and they probably don't feel ready atm. Even for GoW we waited a full year for a new trailer.
But we'll find out.
Is that Jeff Grubb?FF16 is my most anticipated game after Spider-man 2. I need it

Edit: sorry for double post
Hi, me from last month.I. Just. Need. CG. Cutscenes. To. Be. Confirmed.
Hi, me from last month.
I still need CG cutscenes to be 100% confirmed and I also need there to be at least a few in the middle of the game (aka not just an opening and ending)
That's the only oddly specific request I have Yoshi-P please. Thank you
If you want an actual answer: I was introduced to FF when I was 6. My brother was renting Final Fantasy X. I think when I saw the opening cinematic I received the biggest dopamine boost ever experienced in human history. Ever since then I've had an obsession with CG cutscenes.
I mean you can play it on PC, I've been playing on pc since day 1 even on PS5 you're better off playing it on pc. I wish it had come to Xbox not sure why it never did. The only time I ever play on PS5 is if I'm on site and just need to log in to my guild house.Pour a drink for us poor Green Rats. Still no FF online on Xbox.
Thanks Sony. I hope you lose COD on your platform forever.
