next gen graphics mockup renders?

I remember there were some shown a while back and they looked impressive for the time,
but I forget where I saw it.

One of them had an airship scene that looked really impressive.

You know what I'm talking about?

You are looking for the Futuremark demo.

But for next gen graphics mockup renders, look no further than E3 press confs.

It's a pretty specious argument to put up a shot of Heavenly Sword from the ONLY shot that isn't in-engine rendered.

Thanks Chitta, your right. It wass futuremark. It looked alot more impressive when it was first shown but I was kinda of hoping next gen games like Perfect Dark 0 would at least look this good.

javascript:showpic('/global/picture.shtml?picfile=/products/3dmark05/images/3dmark05_shot08_big.jpg&picdesc=','')
Then what would you have to bash the machine for? :)

Wow, the sony mockups don't even look that good. You have a video? Is that real-time?

Since its a Sony and its a mockup, take what you see, reduce the graphic quality, add aliasing, and reduce the framerate (which I suppose you can't see) and that's how the 'real' final game will look like.

I'm not sure what planet Sony is on, but this isn't 1999, people are tired of their PR mock-up bullshit.

Commence 10 page debate proposing that the PS2 games eventually achieved the quality of PS2 demos.

It’s kinda dumb to say that right now because we don't know what the final products will look like. I have a wait and see approach.

Actually, that shot is the only one that runs fast enough for realtime on PS3 dev kits, according to what's his name at B3D. But only her face is being rendered in realtime. The background is pre-rendered.

DeanoC

And you got it wrong Shog...

Her face is prerendered because their facial animation scheme wasn't ready yet....background is ingame....

DenonC.

He said the indoor areas run at faster frame rate, the outdoor areas with huge armies run at slow frame rate because of the cloth dynamics and the face picture I posted above is pre-rendered because they haven't implemented facial expressions in the game yet.

I believe the SquareEnix FF7 demo was realtime too, wasn't it???

Yes, that was real time.

Real time stuff
I-8
Eyedentify
Unreal 3.0 demo
All the demos by Phil Harison
Visions of Gran Turismo
The F1 demo
WarHawk
FightNight
Ni-Oh
Fifth Phantom Saga

The rest was pre-rendered.

Alot of that stuff was impressive, IMO

Hell, I even though some of the early stuff like Fight Night Rd. 3 and Unreal 2K7 showed promise...

HOLYSHIT if the F1 footage was realtime :o

man don't take my word for it, I don't know for sure what was real time or not.

About the F1 game: I thought the crash physics were kinda weak and the grass textures were weak too. It was probably real time IMO, probably put together using post processing like Heavenly Swords and many other demos.

Square's gold mine in the making. FF7 fans were going nuts when they saw this stuff.

A remake with that engine and FF12 battlesystem would own!

There is a ton of detail in those shots....

Of course, X360 should be able to do similar levels of scene complexity/detail so come 2007, graphic whores should be able to circle jerk till the skin comes off :)

My jism of choice then will be MGS4 :D

Oh right-o. I did get that backwards.

Regardless, that shot of HS should be omitted from that rogue's gallery of pre-rendered sap.

My money is on Unreal 3.0 Engine. I don't think any dev will be able to top Gears of War.

Bah I don't want thing attached to FF7.

Come on now! The battle system will move the series forward in a positive direction. No lame screen shattering, and no random battles! FF12 is gonna rock!

I don't mind that aspect. I don't like the idea of it sounding like some modified MMORPG battle system. That's the main reason I hate that genre.

Since we're on FF, here's Caith Sith in Advent Children

I think the fans are tired of the same old formula and Square’s decision to get rid of random battles/screen shattering is good. It will make the game more accessible and instantaneous, no more waiting for stats screen and enemies to load.

The game still will be turn based though!

FFAC looks awesome, can't wait to see that! :D

aren't they tired of milking ff7 yet? gimme some ff8 stuff. NOW!

There's really nothing Square's created that's quite like FF7. I'm not a big fan of it myself (other than Sephi and Vincent who rock) but its very clear that its way ahead of any other game they've made in terms of popularity. Squall and the gang really have nothing on Cloud and the rest of the cast. Basically every character in the main cast of that game is very popular. Aeris isn't even in most of the game and she's probably the most popular female RPG character ever.

Yes, FF7 is hugely popular which is probably why they showed it at the PS3 confrence...

Hey Microsoft, guess which modern Final Fantasy is the least popular:D

*hint* it rhymes with FF7

I really, *really* wish the FF7 stuff they showed in the PS3 presentation wasn't just a tech demo, but an actual redux of the game. I mean the footage they showed for the PS2 of Tekken -- had Jin and Paul fighting amongst a crowd -- ended up being Tekken Tag PS2 (at least from a visual standpoint).

It's no mystery that FF7 was rushed because Sony wanted to get it out in time for the holidays. That lead to parts that were rushed -- everything on Disc 2 and 3 -- and things that were left out -- a way to bring Aerith back -- so for them to take it back to the drawing boards, and do it right would just be absolutely awesome!

We can hope, right?

No, we can't, i'm SO FUCKING SICK of people asking for a FF7 remake, I want to stab my eyes out every time I see it. How about a NEW FF game? Huh? Wouldn't that be better? God you people make me angry, I've been suffering your bullshit for an entire generation now. Just let it rest already, motherfuck!

FF7! LET ME BEAR YOUR CHILDREN!

Except the Advent Children character designs look way better than these.

Yea but one is real time and the other is pre-rendered. I'd love to see a remake using the tech demo graphics, can you imagine how detailed the world would be?! I bet the summons would be orgasmic!

My opinion is: Next gen visuals will look as good as the Killzone demo... eventually. But there will be few if any titles that come close to matching that level of graphical quality within the next two years. With Sony where it is with development tools right now, there is absolutely no way that the Kiilzone footage was in-game. CG, for sure.
