Next gen loading times hinted already.

Is it just me or have other people noticed! That xbox series x games take about 5-10 seconds to load as shown in the quick resume demo while spiderman took 0.8 seconds or 8 milliseconds to load on the ps5 dev kit!

Could this be a hint that playstation 5s ssd is really that much faster than series x

I remember being told we'd see very little load times in the current gen.

Until I've got my hands on the consoles and I'm seeing it live, everything is PR talk.

Did you check to compare loading times on current gen systems as a baseline?
What do u mean? The series x demo showed current gen games on quick resume, state of decay, forza 7, hell blade and the cave a ladt grn game all loading at 5-10 seconds while playstation showed spider man and loaded it in 0.8 seconds

I know youre concern trolling again but one is an old "as is" unoptimized Xbox One game and the Spiderman demo has been specifically rebuilt with the SSD in mind to showcase the load times. PS5 could still have a faster SSD, but the difference between both will not be that much

As for what ive seen on series x i camt judge much 10 seconds is more than enough but also we havent seen series x games yet
Those weren't Xbox Series X games, they were unoptimised Xbox One games.
Yes they werent but so was spiderman on the ps5 devkit its a ps4 game

You dont know if spiderman is that well optimised and the games weve seen on series x arent, fact of the matter is spider man loaded at 0.8 seconds and series x loaded games in 5-10 seconds, nobody is trolling here so stop the kidish chatter.

Can't compare, different game, different platform, different developer.
Also we have 4 threads about "PS5" going by a single Tweet, hype is great and all and I'm excited but it could be discussed within the threads already available.

You can't really compare different games.

If both were showing the exact same game, you would have a point. But they aren't.
This is seriously pointless, spider man uses as much if not more memory than the games shown on series x demo, it took 5-10 secs to load a xbox 360 game the cave on series x a game using less than 512mb of memory and it took 0.8 seconds to load spiderman an open world game using 5.6gb of memory

Its about ram spiderman uses 5.6gb same as most triple a games including forza 7

You really aren't this stupid are you? Tell me you are just shit stirring.

You're comparing quick resume feature with load times?....it's a little different, no?

The latest actual load time series x tech demo with SoD2 is actually very impressive.

The demo for the Xbox loading State of Decay was I believe 50 seconds on Xbox one to 8 seconds on Xbox series X. Compare that to Spiderman loading in 8 seconds on PS4 to .8 on PS5. Regardless it's still not a direct comparison.

The PS5 SSD is reportedly faster. But you can't compare with the two games because they both had different load times on current gen hardware. Compare a game that takes 8 seconds to load on both the PS4pro and OneX then you'll have a fairer comparison.

They showed 5 games on series x all loaded in 5-10 seconds including a xbox 360 game vs an open world game with top graphics like spiderman are you telling me thats not enough examples

We can discuss this until ps5s reveal tomorrow but as of now series x hasnt loaded any game under 0.8 seconds, well see

I mean you really can't because you won't know until tomorrow. You are judging off of different games/consoles and a demo shown May of last year. I really think you should wait for more info.

its about the % of reduction in loading time...not how long the load actually takes...

.08 seconds is very fast, but thats reduced down from only 8 seconds to begin with...unless its the same game or the length of loading is the same in both cases, you cant really take this as a comparison or suggest the ps5 can load faster based on this.

Im not judging i said it could be a hint that ps5 has a faster ssd, weve seen 5 games already and all loaded in 5-10 seconds sony showed open world spiderman and loaded in 0.8 seconds this is what the world has seen.

That and there's a ton of time to optimize before launch, but whatever, there's bigger things to think about right now.

The only comparison I saw was State Of Decay. Did I miss others? What was the fastest loading game on the One X?

They showed 5 games all didnt load in 0.8 seconds its not a coincidence that all games shown take more time to load than spiderman and open world game

That's all great, but I hope that both companies won't ignore the topic of the durability of the SSD's. Current generation consoles already record everything in the background and afaik SSD's don't like that.

I hope this isnt going to be a major part of console warring over the next 6 or 7 years, load times. 'X game loads in 4secs on PS5, but takes 8secs on XSX, who would ever buy a XSX lol'.
I mean if it was 1min on PS5 and 2mins on XSX, then i think i would be right there with you (even then though, it wouldnt be THAT important), but if we are literally talking a few seconds, then its going to be a new low in console warring for me.

What you fail to take into account is what Microsoft demoed was.

Dumping (writing) the current game in RAM unto the SSD while simultaneously loading the save state of another game from SSD to RAM which also eats into bandwidth. This is seriously impressive stuff. While that Spiderman demo is impressive, it is not exactly the same thing Microsoft showed.

I thought the same but apparently loading times isnt the issue the war isnt about that its about asset streaming! What quicker loading times mean is more detail/data on screen / seconds

Its all impressive but werent those games already running in ram/ aka virtual ram and not to be wrong here its impressive but still 5-10 seconds, if microsoft had games that could load in 0.8 seconds they would have demoed them?

i suck at math, but the spider man demo represents a 89% reduction in load time...while the SOD2 comparison is 75%

but again...different games, engines..and the fact the loading in SOD2 was so long means it had much more work to do, its not how you compare hardware...just wait a little bit and we will all know the specs.

also none of those games were spider man? theres more to it than what you suggest.

Not a problem theres bigger problems out there people are dying, neogaf isnt that important and by the way quick resume or not its still loading and also those games in quick resume where all suspended in virtual ram

That's true - so why did you make this console war thread over something so trivial while people are dying?????

There isnt that much more to it 5 games shown one of them xbox 360 title vs spiderman if ms had a better demo then we would have already seen it.

Yea they just dump what is in the actual RAM into the SSD, oversimplification i bet. That is why they are able to load literally from where you stopped playing. I think file system plays a huge role in this as well. PS4 in my opinion had a better file system than Xbox One. Games tend to install and load faster on PS4 than Xbox one.

I dont make console war threads not even interested in console wars as ive said countless times it just seems westerners are one dimensional people all u talk about is what u know in ur little boxes not everybody thinks like u.

That could be another reason.
