I'm really curious whether after October 28th we'll find out PS5 has this supposed 'Infinity Cache' too, not at the same amount as an AMD PC card, but enough to alleviate bandwidth bottlenecks.

This PS5 is phenomenally cool! I mean at 30C is just simply insane! And the console itself when felt wasn't really hot as described. A severe kick in the throat of XboxEra Discord.
Of course it runs cool.

Many do play at 30C or warmer temps
Like countries that dont commonly have air condition (places with short summer and long winter, so air con would be useless or too expensive because they are not common)
On my old apartment at Finnish summer temps that reach around 20-35C outiside combined with direct sunlight from morning till evening and no real night for months, my 1 room apartment reached 38-39C and even at night temps usually were 30-35C on hot days. AKA hell hole.
Moved this summer to bigger apartment made in 2020 (two rooms) with windows on two sides of the building and saw around 28C worst. So this probably reaches 30C too on hottest days.
Places that reach 40-50C outside + no air con = must be like sauna inside
There are portable AC's you can buy and use during such conditions! This is no fun.

Unless the first thing we see when we start PS5 up is a screen asking us to wait for UI download, I'm really skeptical they haven't completed the UI. These consoles started production months ago.

I think Mark Cerny really listened to consumers and developers this generation. He could of easily just built another boring standard box unit and throw a lot of pr spin around it but he went in a completely new direction.
The ssd for example is not just some last-minute bolt-on, its fundamental to how games will be designed and played on the console for years to come, imagine what Sony's developers will be doing in 4-5 years vs the limitations of multiplat games. Buying a ps5 will always make sure that Sony fans are at the forefront of gaming evolution.
The controller, i mean again, Thank you Cerny, for giving us the best controller on the planet, all those extras, more advance feedback options and haptics, built in mic, look at what you can do in Astrobiot, ( you can blow into the fucking controller and make a fan spin lol) again Sony are pushing the boundaries for its gamers, they could of just gone with the ps4 bog standard once again, but they wanted evolution.
The sound engine, the best one ever in a console, live breath the world, just the three things above, if you don't have these you are missing out on what next generation is about. Imagine playing multiplats without the things above, why would settle for second best with Sony gives you it all and so much more.

I remember a guy from Insomniac answering to someone's question about second parties, and he said there's no such thing, you either have a game published by a platform holder or not, it doesn't matter whether the studio is owned.

Agree. I expect/believe hardware customisation with regard to the GPU on 1) Geometry engine, 2) RT modules and 3) the GPU caches. Hopefully we get some level of teardown/details from Sony - not a given though.

Makes no sense as MS already did showed their cards at hot chips. If this is the case MS getting are completely screwed over in this so called partnership. Also you question whether Sony actually build better graphics card than AMD themselves if all they are doing is using Sonys customizations.

Now isn't the time for the XSS. I'm really interested in seeing if it is a successful idea that caries forward and maybe brings more gamers into the console space or a blazing failure. Certainly could go either way.
That decision won't start to be made until post launch when we get the comparison videos of software running on the three new platforms. Obviously the PS5 and XSX are going to look better, but to what degree, enough to make buyers laugh at the XSS or will the reaction for many be "it looks like the same games to me". How that plays will decide how successful or not the XSS is going to be.

i knew that if cerny continued to work with sony for the ps5, i'd have no doubt that what he would be building for next generation will be revolutionary. watching the ps4 reveal, road to ps4 and ps5 videos really shows that this man cares for the future game development.

They'll obviously get more stock in but everything they've been allocated was sold out on day 1 with the $200 deposit then they had a second preorder window of a $50 deposit which was the 2021 stock. So now until they get the next wave will likely be all 2022 stock

I should state an example of numbers the staff member gave me was and I don't know how accurate or precise or if he was just giving and example but what he stated was out of the 10 million launch consoles Australia allocated something like 200,000 PS5's with EB Games getting 40,000 of them

Those first dates are when they started production - producing the components such as silicon, custom moldings and wiring looms for example.
Once they have a stock of component inventory at the assembly location (s) individual Xboxes get constructed from the components. After that they test for quality compliance. At the end of that process it is considered to have been “manufactured”. Hence the September date on the casing - that’s the date the assembled item was completed, not the date of manufacture of the sub components.
It’ll be the same for Sony.
