Those first dates are when they started production - producing the components such as silicon, custom moldings and wiring looms for example.

Once they have a stock of component inventory at the assembly location (s) individual Xboxes get constructed from the components. After that they test for quality compliance. At the end of that process it is considered to have been “manufactured”. Hence the September date on the casing - that’s the date the assembled item was completed, not the date of manufacture of the sub components.

It’ll be the same for Sony.

All the parts would've been made way before the May mass production start date. Do you remember the PS5 production picture with the chief designer from June?

That was mass manufacturing after the various parts had been made and sent from various suppliers, right?

Xbox were said to have started mass production a little before PS5. If what you say is correct then PS5 manufacturing would be way ahead.

i wonder if you could make a fan to take in heat like a heat sink, and disperse it as it spins , two alternate metals, different surface area design , that still incorporates vacuum. two birds one fan. hmmm.

call it the circle console , opens from top , fan grill all around it... hmm...

Unless the first thing we see when we start PS5 up is a screen asking us to wait for UI download, I'm really skeptical they haven't completed the UI. These consoles started production months ago.
Then why go out of your way to make sure it was not shown on the Japanese previews? It must have had some form on interface while they switched games. Presumably it is still not final. Also the XSX and XSS went into production months ago too, but so far we know Halo wasnt due to launch with RT, and neither is DmC, next gen consoles are coming in hot. Covid be damned.

yeah like showing them a month before launch is gonna make a difference

at this point i am resigned to seeing it at launch... since we get it week later than U.S i will likely see it first time on twitch!

Yeah I'm not buying that either. If it's going to be copied then it can easily be copied post launch with a simple update. They just don't want to show it yet. I don't think there's anything actually wrong.

Yes that could be enough for MS to prepare a PR answer:

"We are making a similar thing than the awesome PS5 UI, just be patient and our stuff will be even better"

There’s no evidence that is a mass manufactured unit - in fact there’s no reason to assume that is even a functional unit. Not to mention that image was widely considered to be faked to make the PS5 look bigger.

Either way producing a one off retail unit to shake out the bugs, identify production risks and verify quality of the production lines isn’t the same as commencing assembly for retail.

What I wrote is what’s happening for both Sony and MS. You can expect your PS5 to have a manufacture date within 6 weeks of the launch date if you receive one day one.

No it makes sense. As soon as that GDCtalk did the rounds. Xbox was out there praising SSD' & talking I/O. It went from Tflops to velocity architecture in weeks. All that TFLOP talk went out the window because that was the wave.Xbox are just looking for any sell & and any notoriety attachment to PS5 hype.

MS love to play the me too game. They seem to just magically have the alternatives. It makes perfect sense for Sony to sit on things late. Especially as MS has paid off the media & twitter goofys.

Agreed. No matter what they might present, Microsoft won't be able to copy and have it ready for launch in a month. It's a ridiculous notion.

This is amazing news. Well, my room is usually pretty cool, something around 18-23C usually as I have a 2 ton split unit in the room. Makes me more excited for the teardown.
Let’s says mine is 30C on winter.

Today is reaching 40C because the room get sun all day long.

Of course I have ventilator and air conditioner to fix that.

I'm just going to leave this 2019 trailer here for reference.

it could be this but who knows...

Three options:

1. The UI is some sort of state of the art technical showcase they don't want others to see yet.
2. The UI is a bog standard affair and not worth making a big deal out of.
3. The UI is an unfinished mess, and they can't show it yet.

None of us know which option is true, but 3 is very unlikely, 1 is possible, and 2 is the most obvious answer.

It looks like a stand, it acts like a stand, everyone calls it a stand; it's a stand.
This is a dumb but since im tired of seeing it...

Stand Definition-a frame on or in which something may be placed for support

Now idiots will probably agrue over what frame means... dont be one.

Yes. Way too late. MS is doomed. MS has production issues. Heating issues. Console goes on fire after 2 hours playing.

/s. stop with the „concern“ trolling. Ridiculous.
Do you need a hug?

I just found it strange the article thought the first retail console would have such a recent manufacturing date since we know MS started production months ago. No need to be that triggered.

From a verified insider at Era (now since deleted their account) they said it was a genuine/official picture that leaked out. Reading between the lines this was the first production/retail console off the line milestone.

In any case, if you are right and real meaningful production actually started in September, then the reports from May were BS. Granted the One X did also start production in September as Xbox Twitter posted the pictures so there is form here.

I suggest you install GREE AC's, cheaper than competition, and OP, lol. I mean, my AC is always set at 25-26C yet it nearly cracks my bones. Electronics don't like heat, maybe use UV films on those windows? Mine already have them, I think, PVC. Pretty thick glass.

I think it's near 3", so it's probably 19mm. Some mofos pass by with anti-lag explosion sounds like this during our touristic season like this:

Most of those guys are our neighbors in UAE, lol

If you ever heard one of those in person (anti-lags), it rattles your house windows and rattles your guts inside you if you're like few meters away, extremely noisy.:messenger_grimmacing_

Makes no sense as MS already did showed their cards at hot chips. If this is the case MS getting are completely screwed over in this so called partnership. Also you question whether Sony actually build better graphics card than AMD themselves if all they are doing is using Sonys customizations.

Its a bad look.
Who said anything about Sony making better cards than AMD? I'm just remembering what Cerny said about their customizations going into AMD's retail PC cards if their partnership was successful. Both may have agreed to disclose such details only after AMD presentation.

Xbox is not enormous. Nintendo & Playstation are. Sega bigger name than xbox lol.

Xbox do it weekly. Wasn't your man phil saying exclusives are bad. Now its some games will go multiplat from bethesda. It went from Tflops to SSD's & I/O talk. After cerny GDC.

It was about next gen games & 12 TF power now, Now its back to BC games. Xbox do it weekly.

"your man phil" LOL this again

anyway, Xbox might not be a big NAME but you realize they are apart of MICROSOFT... and i dont think i need to mention how "enormous" they are

By getting the same games on Xbox and PC? No, pal, if you want access to everything, the GOAT combination is PC+PS5+Switch.
I don't want those games. I have more than enough and all games I want on my platform.
And Switch is to expensive still.
Otherwise I would get that system for some Nintendo games.

Yeah, heat pipes. The better the engineering and the more heat pipes used will emit less heat.

Ok so im not an expert but since this has peaked my curiosity... the heat pipes are super effcient at transferring energy. So if they aren't transferring the energy to a fan, where are they transferring it. It just radiates the heat out?

It looks bad all round. Sony cant say anything because of some bizarre collab with AMD even though their shit custom. >>Which then looks like AMD can't make features without Sony>>> And MS look like their collab ain't worth shit. Since AMD just want sony's custom features.

This don't look right , it don't sound right.Sony Pony and all that but damn looks like MS look got shitty deal. If most gpu hardware convo is "see the consoles to see what will be in GPU cards". What are AMD doing. Right now It just looks like AMD cards are just based of PS5 tech. Especially as MS put out their specs & everyone still saying big navi all these other numbers will have PS5 features & vice versa. Just must suck if your xbox engineers. This is not good optics for partnerships. Hide all this better than this. MS out here like a side bitch. And well what AMD gpu's are all on sony's discoverys. This aint right.
