In the road map for later ... give people in COVID times a change to polish stuff up , unite ! It are harsh times and be kind ! ❤
I agree in preaching patience. It's always a good thing. What I would say is puzzling is that there aren't even screenshots being revealed of some of these games. We've seen it for PS5 launch titles. Some have videos and screenshots, like MM's performance mode demo, NBA2k21 gameplay trailer, Godfall's extensive gameplay demos, and Sackboy's gameplay trailer. I won't even talk about Balan Wonderworld, which looks poor. Astro's also has extensive gameplay, but that's little more than a light tech demo disguised as a game.
However, even games that don't have video, have new screenshots: Returnal, MM fidelity mode, and Destruction All-Stars (although that is worryingly only showing the same arena from the reveal trailer). There should theoretically be areas of launch XSX games that are polished enough for screenshots. However, we haven't seen them. Someone tweeted that Halo was looking better now than its reveal, but there's no new screenshots of that. Even The Medium had a steady rate of new videos and screenshots the past few months, even if most of it was captured on PC. There should be more shown for the XSX than we're seeing.
I know people have been hammering CDPR for their reinstated crunch cycle, but I have to imagine that studios working on XSX titles for this year have been in eternal crunch, to get games ready for the launch window. Yet even then, there's been nothing next-gen shown for the system yet. We'll get Yakuza this week, it seems, but we've already seen what that will look like from the PS5 footage, and while it's not Dirt-ugly, it's not really a showpiece either. It's just strange. I'm not saying concerning or worrying at all, but peculiar to have already gone through the preorder cycle, with no next-gen content to promote a next-gen console. It has the appearance of a rushed launch, where current gen games have to be the main selling point, while next-gen games are prepared for what would have been the more sensible launch date, Spring 2021.
