I think the tearing is quite severe, I never experienced screen tearing before but always see videos about it on youtube. Here you can see the car has returned to near-native 4K, but the screen tearing is just outrageous.

This is an interesting game that I would love DF to cover "professionally".

Suffering on high frame rate this is similar to PC when freeSync/gsync isn't enabled. Basically a high end PC nothing special

Maybe it's TV's magic. Maybe it's more visible in monitors that are barebone usually in terms of tech.

Not really much a TV can do about and stick to NTSC spec, at least not that I've seen. How do you fix a frame being late and the result output of half an old frame and half a new one?

Serious question, is there a mode or something that I've missed?

That's not remotely the same. Kinect was forced upon Xbox One users on day one, there weren't any decent games with a Metacritic score higher than 70 that are available to play on it.

Then you have great games for which you don't need Kinect, that get a score of +90 on MC (like Uncharted 4 for example). Those are games people would like to play again. It's great that Sony is supporting PS4 games, and basically every game there is on the PS5. They changed their position on this technology, and kudos to them.
I hate goal posts. Since you don't care about something then it does not matter for those who care about? Nobody forced anything upon you, it was part of the package you bought into. Many bought those Just Dance games for those feature though they are not necessarily required to play the game. I hate making these sorta distinctions. I don't care about BC but i know others care about it and i don't dismiss it even though i don't care about it. It is a cool feature to have but I literally put all my PS4 games i couldn't trade at Gamestop on eBay. That is how i am funding my next gen games and that is why i will not support all digital future.

Damn, now surely this is using velocity architecture also like the last one that was 13 seconds, falcon gane was it?

This seems too long for the figures we have for the xbox ssd, so is the explanation something I speculated a while back, about xbox not getting rid of the bottlenecks?

Its often something people overlook about ps5 and praise the ssd, but without that breakthrough in the io and elimination of all bottlenecks by that dedicated hardware that xbox just doesn't have, it would be anywhere near as fast.

Interesting, need to see more examples.

It's possible that the software for Velocity Architecture just isn't finished yet or these cross gen games just aren't making use of it due to time and/or budget concerns. Otherwise it does look like there are still bottlenecks holding back the SSD's performance.

New HDMI 2.1 have VRR, so that should help, I guess. But never experienced it on PlayStation before, maybe it's an Xbox/PC issue. Maybe PS3 had it and I didn't notice, not sure.

I don't understand that you don't see the difference between supporting Kinect games, Kinect connectors on the XSX together with supporting "normal" games.

Hendrick's

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
Never experienced that on PS4/Pro. I've read tearing reports about XOX before, maybe Sony has something going on internally, or maybe it's the TV.
PS4/PS4 PRO will never tear, one reason is the optimization amazing I wish they were power to push 60 fps all games it would be amazing.
Are you guys claiming screen tearing doesn't exist on Playstation with a straight face?

Games are games. They have been touting all your accessories will come with you (except for kinect). All your games will come with your (except for kinect). If you say all don't add an exception then it is literally not all. It is for the same reason why i also hate when people say Xbox One is compatible with 3 generations of consoles. In reality it is 4% of OG Xbox One games. Sony could say PS4 is compatible with 2 generations of console games and it would technically be true but they don't.

Germany is a third world country regarding the internet speed, if you compare it to other countries.

Depending on where you live, you can! have a good internet, but it is not guaranteed.

Maybe where Alex and John are, it's fine. Germany is 27th, UK is 34th and US is 15th... I guess people complain about the prices in the US more plus there will be huge regional differences.

I'm curious if dynamic 4k is no longer disappointing.
DiRT 5 looks a bit below average, Yakuza looks like Yakuza.
Hope we see more games soon.

Bloodborne has screen tearing?

Bloodborne shouldn't be touted as a technical showcase of any kind. It had bad framepacing, dips frequently below 30 fps, and while it has a great art style is not a looker from a technical sense. Awesome game, but hoping that Fromsoftware will do better performance wise on next gen.

Get From to do the story and art style then give it to Bluepoint to program. :messenger_beaming:

Along with FPS and frame pacing issues. It's not that unknown, one of the reasons that 60fps mod made the news, and why so many want a remaster or PS5 boost patch for it.

I skimmed through it, didn't notice any screen tearing. Wish you could turn off the shitty chromatic aberration :messenger_weary:

It is indeed strange. All PS5 games we’ve seen so far load in under 5 seconds. Goes to show you can’t makeup in software for raw hardware performance.

Comparisons with the same games is going to be very interesting.

Bloodborne has bad frame pacing. Not the same as tearing, at least as I understand it.

Also, as far as I’m concerned consoles should have vsync on. If you want peak performance, get a pc. Asking consumers to buy external hardware with vrr, gsync, freesync etc to play a console game is a bridge too far. Especially because HDMI 2.1 is very new and the implementation is not standardized yet with issues on LG, Samsung and likely Sony displays.

IMO Consoles are for predictable performance, PC’s are for excellent performance.

This is an interesting game that I would love DF to cover "professionally".

That screen tearing is pretty bad but I love having 120 fps options even at 1080p

Games like this I will pick high frames every single time

Looks to be a great week for info, buckle up ;)

Mostly occurs in the latter parts of the game for me. Its not the worst out there but combined with the frame pacing issues it gets annoying. Still a excellent game though.

Its just odd somebody would claim the PS4 has no screen tearing. It's been a thing for basically every single console in some form or another.

Something tells me when xbox fans said they wanted magic moments from the system they didn't expect to see a man sawed in half....

In the road map for later ... give people in COVID times a change to polish stuff up , unite ! It are harsh times and be kind ! ❤
I agree in preaching patience. It's always a good thing. What I would say is puzzling is that there aren't even screenshots being revealed of some of these games. We've seen it for PS5 launch titles. Some have videos and screenshots, like MM's performance mode demo, NBA2k21 gameplay trailer, Godfall's extensive gameplay demos, and Sackboy's gameplay trailer. I won't even talk about Balan Wonderworld, which looks poor. Astro's also has extensive gameplay, but that's little more than a light tech demo disguised as a game.

However, even games that don't have video, have new screenshots: Returnal, MM fidelity mode, and Destruction All-Stars (although that is worryingly only showing the same arena from the reveal trailer). There should theoretically be areas of launch XSX games that are polished enough for screenshots. However, we haven't seen them. Someone tweeted that Halo was looking better now than its reveal, but there's no new screenshots of that. Even The Medium had a steady rate of new videos and screenshots the past few months, even if most of it was captured on PC. There should be more shown for the XSX than we're seeing.

I know people have been hammering CDPR for their reinstated crunch cycle, but I have to imagine that studios working on XSX titles for this year have been in eternal crunch, to get games ready for the launch window. Yet even then, there's been nothing next-gen shown for the system yet. We'll get Yakuza this week, it seems, but we've already seen what that will look like from the PS5 footage, and while it's not Dirt-ugly, it's not really a showpiece either. It's just strange. I'm not saying concerning or worrying at all, but peculiar to have already gone through the preorder cycle, with no next-gen content to promote a next-gen console. It has the appearance of a rushed launch, where current gen games have to be the main selling point, while next-gen games are prepared for what would have been the more sensible launch date, Spring 2021.

I would advise you to not go looking for it.. because you definitely play games with it, and once you notice it, it will drive you nuts.

Outside of 3 or 4 games I tried via ps+ I haven't see much screen tearing this gen( funny though dirt rally 2 was one of them that I instant delete after seeing that insane ugly af screen tearing) , if not at all.
