Got a simple question for tech guys : I read on this forum that the PS5 load times are often 2s long. My question is how could it be different?
With a Ram running at around 8 or 9 Gb/s and a quantity of 16 Gb, it will always be 2s max.
Am I misunderstanding something here?

You leave my WOMAN CAT ALONE.

Oh don't worry I would never shave a cat a dog on the other hand......

Hey, so I am barely paying attention to this launch [i do have a ps5 secured], so have some newb questions. I searced for a questions thread but couldn't find one...

1] i own spidey on disc on ps4. I want spidey and miles on ps5. What is my best/cheapest way to accomplish this?

2] can i play TLOU multiplayer with my ps4 buds by installing on my ps5? [I am moving my ps4 to a different room]

3] have we heard any suprise ps+ announcements, like when we learned resogun was free at launch?

4] can someone recommend a good site/resource to track day 1 games, upgrade prices, and coming soon games?

5] there are upcoming ps4 games like NFS Hot Pursuit remastered, and that SMG Nocturne remaster that I want. Should I be waiting for ps5 news or just snag on my ps4, if i would ultimately want them on ps5?

6] for games with free upgrades... wouldn't it make sense to buy on ps4 so i can have both?

7] do we have any news on improved remote play capabilities, especially as they pertain to pstv?

Thanks. I tried googling some of the above to mixed results, was hoping someone tuned in could just spit out some answers.

It also need time to execute the code.

i think i said this before somewhere down the line, if i was to pick one of the big game franchises i would probably go with forza, Grand Turismo looks to simulated to me, like proper driving, i am in it for the cheap thrills and the pace.

To me and i could be wrong here but Forza looks more arcade to me, and if i was a car racer fan i would of bought an xbox for it.

And yes, i just had a look at flatout, i played that at a friends house like 7 years ago, i think it was on ps4 it was really really fun. i totally forget about that game.
If I wanted Arcadey, I'd go for Virtua Racing, Daytona USA and Ridge Racer myself. I love GT for how it tackles the sim experience compared to others, I'll still try out other sims to feel them out, but GT will always be go-to.

Welll to put it simply the hdd or SSD is like a water hose and the RAM like the watering can.
A level is load once the watering can is full, but before ssd, with hdd the watering hose was slowly dripping in the watering can.
Now you have a jet of water with SSD and since the raw jet of water is enough to fill the watering can in 2 or 3 sec with it's raw output.
Then if a game is well opimised it should be able to fill the watering can as fast as the watering hose allows it.

Now let's say PS5 reserve 13Gb for the game then at worst it should take 13/5.5 seconds to fill the ram totally.
Those times can be longer accounting dumping the RAM before filling it again and a few other things that are to complicated to list.
But this shows how much time it should take to fill RAM.
Then compression can come into play and speed of decompression too wich may varies times a bit but globally at worst we should be expecting Ram allocated to a games / Raw Speed of the HDD/SSD per seconds.

Ok guys, after those dirty graphics we've seen previously, I forgot that I didn't make GT7 screenshots. Here are some high-quality, PNG, 4K screenshots I've made from the official trailer. Dynamic 4K@60fps done right, and also has heavy raytracing usage. Probably Sony's new AI image reconstruction is making some magic here, it's simply crazy. Put in mind that this is a pre-alpha build, things will get even better.

Cleanse your eyes, people!

What is real life? Give me my fucking PS5! Sony has shown us the best gaming graphics so far!

Sony is showing some real-life camera effects, like emulating shutter speed effects, focal length bokeh, and some other deficiencies like lens distortion. I love them!

Tell ya what I'm so hoping GT7 can approach the highs that was GT3 all those years back. That was the absolute pinnacle at the time, I want PD to try to blow our socks off again. Those screenies are bringing that nostalgia back Bo :messenger_fire:

1] i own spidey on disc on ps4. I want spidey and miles on ps5. What is my best/cheapest way to accomplish this?
Only complete edition, yeah I know sucks
2] can i play TLOU multiplayer with my ps4 buds by installing on my ps5? [I am moving my ps4 to a different room]
We don't know 100% but is a good possibility.
3] have we heard any suprise ps+ announcements, like when we learned resogun was free at launch?
GTA online (not the campaign) is free if I remember also the playstation collection
5] there are upcoming ps4 games like NFS Hot Pursuit remastered, and that SMG Nocturne remaster that I want. Should I be waiting for ps5 news or just snag on my ps4, if i would ultimately want them on ps5?
Wait is just a couple of weeks.
6] for games with free upgrades... wouldn't it make sense to buy on ps4 so i can have both?
Yes but if I remember correctly basically in the moment of upgrade some games just convert
the license in the next gen version so you only preserve the second one, I can be wrong.

Man, I didn't examine the WebM video before of GT7, and I was in shock mode all the time while making those screenies. It's just mind-blowing to see it sustaining 4K while providing heavy use of raytracing at 60fps! And this is a pre-alpha build, expect something better later.

8 or 9 (or more even) are of compressed data, the raw speed is still 5.5gb/s
but yeah, i would expect loading times, if at all, being around that mark

I mean i know this forum is for hardcore people, the other day 99% of people laughed at the game has gone gold thread.

People were saying how shit it looks, but if i was a parent~( and thank god i am not) this is the kinda game that would interest me for my kid.

It looks fun simple and very safe.

I ain't gonna knock it for being different. :messenger_heart:

I adore Bugsnax and from the previews it is obvious the game is gonna be very popular because as you said It is simple and fun.

Correct. :messenger_beaming:

No, honestly, tech advancements are great regardless of where they come from.

Banter aside i will say this, and i don't mean this in a bad way, but if i see Red dead redemption coming in at 40 seconds on ps5 i am going to be extremely unhappy.

This is not what i wanted for next generation. I played red dead redemption and put 130 hours into, i was Mr goodie two shoes when i played it, i would like to play it again and be Mr totally nasty and see how different the world is.

There are probably tones of things i have missed out on too.

If the load times end up being 40 seconds again i might just pass on the whole thing and play other games, i think i said it before load times to me are the most important thing for me this generation.

I'm interested in seeing RDR2 loading and how that compares on both. On PC you can use the best of the best in both CPU and GPU and a 5.5GB/sec SSD and still be at roughly 40 seconds. Looks like series X is trapped around the same area, will be good to see the PS5.

I‘ve ragged on this game for the comedy value, but it’s a good launch game move, given it‘ll appeal to the evil midget people.

SportsFan581 SportsFan581 in regards to console waring.

Yes be very afraid. If Sony comes in with load times that are far beneath xboxs, if i was you m8 i would take a week off, cos you know what is going to happen.

and people will not be able to shut the results down as fud or hearsay or trolling, there will be actual numbers and comparison screenshots.

I am slightly worried for a few of what i consider the nice xbox fans like yourself(don't get too fucking excited that i regard you as a friend sigh) that will probably change again soon after you post something negative about bugsnax

The best hope for the forum in regards to peace is if ssd speeds come in lets say within 5/10 seconds of each other or so.

Like 40 seconds to 30 seconds, but if it ends up being 40 to 10, i fear for your sanity.

Ps4 had a secondary ARM cpu, is there one on the ps5, now that we've seen images of the board?
We would need to wait for a more independent teardown, but at the moment there are 2 chips of which we know nothing about. One (Red) could be the Audio/Tempest engine (if the logic is not in the SoC), and another one (Orange) is alone in a corner. There is another chip (Black) by the HDMI port, and should be the HDMI output chip.

I agree, and I'm very curious if PS4 game load times on the PS5 SSD will be significantly faster than a SATA SSD hooked up via USB.

Only reason I'd use any of the 825 SSD on old games if it loads like 4-5x faster than on an external SSD/HDD.

If RDR2 takes 40 secs on a USB HDD, but only 5-10 secs on the PS5 SSD, then I'll be happy and use it for my favorite PS4 games. But otherwise, I'll just leave games on external storage.

As load times go away for new games, my patience/tolerance for load times for old games will go away. Only a select few special old games will still be worth the wait, for me.

1. Buy Miles for $50 (or on sale) and just play your PS4 Spider-Man game. Don't buy the remaster if you wanna save money.

2. I'd assume yes, its a PS4 game, your PS5 can play it.

3. PS Plus Collection

4. Idk... neogaf lol?

5. idk

6. I suspect, if Digital, when you upgrade to PS5 version, you will lose your old digital PS4 game. Not sure with discs. Maybe you get both, idk.

7. no
