Oh man, this silence from Sony really is bringing me down, I hope they reveal the PlayStation 5 in February because the GDC 2020 is gonna happen on 16th of March, so at that time, everything about the specs of these consoles will be 100% leaked.

And I'm afraid what Kleegamefan said might be wrong as well, so I hope Sony does what Klee reported in the past or he will turn out to be a wrong source.

And let's not forget he said this...

The specifications will not change if Sony says them this month or if they are filtered in the Gdc. If Sony makes an event with the specifications already known, it does not change much. The Sony event would still be expected by the box, the controller, the features and the new games.

Would yall take a elite controller over some tfs??

Doubt a console will ever release with a elite controller but curious if yall had the choice

Yeah I know what you're saying but I mean like, it's getting late LOL!! And I HOPE they announce the PS5 in February.

PLEASE SONY, PLEEEAAAASE!!!!!

What makes it Elite?
Most of the good stuff is already confirmed. (Haptic feedback, adaptive triggers)

Already sounds good to me. I like the DS4 as well though. I don't get the level of love/hate people seem to have with controllers and the positioning of the thumbsticks on this controller versus that one.... Just not a big deal to me, I suppose.

Just had a thought:

Rumours have it that Sony will be releasing a new dashboard, possibly including VR, that will "change the way we connect with the consoles"

Sony are also doing hundreds of smaller customer demonstrations all over the world.

Do the two go together? Have Sony created a new way to connect that needs to be seen to be believed? Or is it somehow VR powered, which also needs to be seen vs believed?

PS5. See. Believe. 2020

Yup sword art online, .hack about to get really real 🤣

The screen on the Dreamcast VMU were brilliant to be fair, but you could take those out as little tomagochi type things (at a time they were popular).

These days? Ugh... It's a pointless waste of battery.

We might already have the specs. It's so funny how leaks and rumors breakdown overtime, and how they usually got started with just a handful of people.

As I said once before it might not be even Klee himself that's wrong. If you've got just one source running around to everyone spreading the same rumor you'd have a whole bunch of people believing it and reporting the same thing back to us.

So we could have "insiders" like Klee or whoever putting themselves on record and lending their own credibility to something that wouldn't have ordinarily been reported at all. That's why when Paul over at Redtech tells people to take these things with truck loads of salt they absolutely should. People are constantly sending him stuff, most he admittedly never shares because it's either clearly bogus or impossible to validate. And unlike the insiders who usually only have one source, Paul has NUMEROUS industry contacts that he uses to verify things and yet he STILL advises people to proceed with caution.

I know people around here also love to jump on DF as shills, but they have DEEP connections within the industry. Certainly more than the average insider and I'm under the impression that they already know what's what, but have decided to play coy out of respect to Sony/MS and let them reveal their own wares.

I'd love another February surprise like last time, but I'm keeping things a bit more grounded until the official word is given.

A screen would have a big impact on the battery life, no thanks scrap that boys.

A paperwhite screen for menus/setup or game text probably wouldn't hit battery life too badly, say 10% extra if it is only changing at book reading pace. It would be a place to put audio mode selection, haptic feedback, VR, RT indicators/on/off switches, and maybe storage remaining.

I think the patented technology used in Amazon paperwhite e-readers was developed by Sony for their unsuccessful e-readers, anyway, so they probably can do it cheaply.

I played games with DS4 and the Xbox controller, and they are much of a muchness. I remember when Sony controllers were made for small Japanese hands and sucked big time.

Well IMO it is logical to dislike xbox stick placement because humans have "symmetrical mirrored hands" and thumbs rest on the sticks most of the time while gaming.

So with xbox one hand must be either in different grip to have both thumbs in the same relaxed position, or one thumb must be kept on non-relaxed state to keep it on the stick (left stick for me).

when I pick up DS4, both thumbs are naturally positioned so that they are on the sticks as they should be, so changin that just cant be an improvement with any logic.

Any time I have seen people complaining about ds4, they use some crazy "claw" grip or just keep hands weirdly, instead of just keeping relaxed grip where area with fingerprint is on the sticks.

I have kind of big hands with long average width fingers, friends have small girl hands and small man hands with long fingers = all have naturally relaxed grip with ds4.

Xbox controller is like having a driving wheel in a car with one round side and one square, just stupid and not logical. D-pad is rarely used and most games which use buttons on the right side are made so that it is easy to switch right thumb from stick to buttons and back

= DS4 stick placement is just superior as there is no reason to have them fucked up like on xbox other than years of "getting used to it"

There's no objective correct answer in this.

IMO the best solution would be to have the analogs on top on both sides, so it would be as comfortable as on XB controller, but still symmetrical as DS.

Reason the Xbox controller is better for me, personally, as this is subjective:

The size and shape. And then, the sticks are in the right place. Left stick is for movement which is usually always pressed, and that's in the right spot. On a PlayStation they have the dpad here which still makes very little sense, and is a legacy thing from the old controllers.

Right stick is in a secondary position because you need the buttons, and as such you're more likely to use a button than change your view.

Again, totally personal, and there's no right or wrong answer. You like what you like.

Ps2/3 sticks though were horse shit and I'm glad they are gone. And that ones a fact, boyos 😉

It goes both ways though. As long as both controllers are ergonomic (which is now the case starting with DS4), the relative joystick positioning is of secondary importance and preference comes down to personal tastes and habits.

Nobody is right or wrong.

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 just said he hasn't "heard" much about the controller. That means there's no speaker! So that's confirmed!

You tubers, use my full name as credit, thank you.

Also he hasn't heard "much" so heard something about the controller but not much so that's confirmed.

My name in the credit also please. Thank you.

While pretty much everyone has a bias, Digital Foundry shootouts show the the actual resolutions, framerates and they discuss the differences good or bad (screen tearing, rendering artifacts etc) for both platforms from what I've seen.

they dont utterly shit on xbox so the sony fanboys think they are xbox shills

I am not an insider but this seems way too late to be thinking about something like this.
also a very risky expensive test. what if it becomes a gimmick no one uses? they spend money on a screen for it to turn to a gimmick rarely used and drive the cost of DS5 up

Honest question, how many of you actually looked at the VMU while playing a game? The only time that i remember doing that was for Resident Evil Code Veronica to see when i REALLY needed to heal. Otherwise, i don't remember looking at all besides the first time i was playing each game to see what it did.
Kind of reminds me of the DS4 lightbar gimmick, changing colors depending of the situation... Okey?

So yeah, i don't really see the point of having a small screen on the gamepad.

the lightbar on DS4 is for VR camera i believe. but thats such a tiny number to sacrifice this much battery for . people who disabled the light got double the battery life.
