Well, here's my take on this Oberon leak, let's say that what we saw from from the leak is the PS5's final retail specifications (36 CU X 2000 MHz = 9.2 TF). Well...
1. That 2000 MHz GPU clock is too high for a console and wouldn't work at all for a known console form factor, it'll fry it up immediately.
2. Let's say IF it worked by using the same form factor as the Xbox Series X (which is really the 1st time we've seen a console form factor like that), they would have to invest in a much more aggressive cooling solution than the XSX for that 2000 MHz clock, which would increase and make Its BOM as much as XSX while having a 30% less GPU power, they'll end up releasing PS5 at an identical price tag of $500 while having 30% less GPU power.
Mark Cerny would be stupid if he did one of those decisions above.
You guys see why this Oberon leak doesn't make any sense? It just lacks context, as Digital Foundry have put it, and it really negates everything insiders & journalists said about the PS5, guys like Jason, Matt, Kleegamefan, Andrew Reiner (Game Informer Editor In-chief), Colin Moriarty, etc...
And speaking of Colin and Andrew, both have stated PS5 is more powerful than XSX which at that time according to Arthur Gies (from Polygon) said the XSX 12 TF thing was known for a while since E3 2019, so if the PS5 really is 9.2 TF from a long time ago (Oberon last testing was in June 2019) then why is it more powerful than a 12 TF XSX at that time?
You see guys? That's why I really do not believe in that Oberon leak or maybe because it lacks context because we (people) are from the outside looking in (the leak) so all we see is just incomplete info, that's all.
I hope you guys read this comment especially a guy who I have been reading his comments a lot on ResetEra and that guy is
vivftp
Hey Vivftp, you should read my comment and maybe share some ideas from my speculations to the members of ResetEra because I think they forget a lot of things about the old reports and such and I just wanted to see what they'll say about my comments/ideas. Cheers!
