I don't understand this. He talks about ps5 gpu having RDNA 3 features and then he jumps to talking about cpu features. How would RDNA 3 have anything to do with the cpu? Maybe they are just 2 unrelated things he put in one tweet.

He said he didn't know which specific RDNA 3 features were pulled forward, but did know of some CPU customizations. They're two different thoughts.

i cannot wait until he say the ps5 support RDNA 4 features

Since when? This is the first time consoles are not outdated at launch, but even actually ahead of the curve. Even when the X1X first rumors emerged Ryzen was already out on the market, with Zen+ coming out soon, so many people including myself believed X1X will be indeed equiped with Ryzen, but as Spencer later said Ryzen showed up too late into X1X development. So upcoming consoles equiped with hardware that's not even out there is anything but a "given" or "certainty", that's a precedent.
Since the PS4 Pro...?

The PS4 Pro launched November 2016. Its GPU core was based on Polaris (GCN 4). The first Polaris cards; the RX480 and 470 (both based on the Polaris 10/Ellesmere die) launched around 5 months earlier that very same year in June 2016.
The PS4 Pro's GPU core also featured Rapid Packed Math (double-rate FP16 compute), which was lifted from Vega (GCN 5.0). The very first Vega GPU; Vega 56 and 64 (Vega 10) launch nearly 10 months later in August 2017.
There is precedent for this kind of thing.

RDNA2 will be launched around the same time as consoles, with RDNA 3 following 12-18 months after that. Having RDNA2 features is a given. Basically a certainty.
But having a few select RDNA 3 features is most definitely not completely off the table.

As I said, the PS4 Pro introduced Rapid Packed Math (or double-rate FP16 compute) a feature designed for Vega, a whole year before Vega was released. Its not unreasonable.

Yep. While I won't get my hopes up, I wouldn't rule out both consoles getting roadmap features from RDNA3 or Zen 3.

Mark Cerny in the DF 'inside PS4 Pro article' details the exact process of getting future tech:

Mark Cerny said:
How it works is that we sit down with AMD, who are terribly collaborative. It's a real pleasure to work with them. So basically, we go ahead and say how many CUs we want to have and we look at the roadmap features and we look at area and we make some decisions and we even - in this case - have the opportunity, from time to time, to have a feature in our chip before it's in a discrete GPU. We have two of these this time, which is very nice.

True, but since they have at least two teams now .. one could easily work on platformers while the other keeps on working on uncharted and other new IP?

Maybe instead of acquiring a new studio, expand the ones you already have?
I think many of Sony's studios have been operating this way for a while, at least they tried (I think Santa Monica had a second team project cancelled early in the gen).

How many times are we going to ignore the fact that he has friends in the industry that do have dev kits? You don't like what he says. Fine, you don't have too. Maybe he's full of crap. But quit using this false narrative that since he has no devkit he can't possibly have any information on the ps5.

But whenever guys like NXGamer or RedGamingTech etc. who also didn't saw the dev-kits with their own eyes say positive rumors about PS5 it's 100% legit and confirmed info... It's called double standards, get used to it, this thread is full of it.

1) is the AMD Radeon-Navi-RDNA GPU architecture also ARM based as well?
The GPU's architecture is independent from the CPU's architecture (Nvidia uses the same basic architecture on their ARM chips as in their PC offering).
2) Does Radeon-Navi-RDNA GPU also compete with Adreno ARM GPU and NVIDIA ARM based GPUs?
Yes
3) Can AMD make their own ARM based Zen CPU and RDNA GPU's to compete with QUALCOMM's snapdragon series?
Arm can be licensed to anyone as far as I know, so they could either license arm and produce their own CPUs or license their graphics cores to integrate in other products (it seems like they are heading this way).

4) Can you play PC games on ARM based CPU/GPU with Always Connected Windows Laptops such as the Microsoft Surface X? If not, does the UWP-Direct x 12 Ultimate and recompiling tools for ARM based CPU/GPU make it possible for PC games to adapt and scale to ARM based Windows computers?
That seems possible.

seems that ARM is catching up to a certain extent
They are catching up on server and laptop big time... Not sure how far they will get in that direction, but there is a possibility that ARM is the future (or that open CPU Architecture).

the reason he says he has no value is because he talks to xbox fanboys.

Impressive as any shit someone talks to some lunatic xbox fanboy on twitter has the same value as someone else talking to a professional journalist.
it is not strange that today we have presidents elected with lunatic lies.

Don't know how Tidux gets posted on here.

He's about as believable as Cilit fucking Bang curing Coronavirus by direct injection. He's good for a laugh and not much else.

From my point of view it looks like sony is severely behind on the messaging war with microsoft. We're potentially looking at this lineup next week all showing next gen gameplay:
-Cyber punk,
-assassins creed,
-elden ring,
-ea games, probably fifa and and battlefield
and who knows what else.
All with xbox branded marketing. Probably all with smart delivery and maybe even some on gamespass day one.

I get it, sony can show a picture of a controller and generate 5 million likes. But you cant just let your opponent show all the biggest third party games and your response be radio silence. MS was succesful before, they can do it again. Look i get it, sony still has alot riding on the ps4, and xbox is hungry to put this generation behind them, but this radio silence stuff is an extremely bad strategy. Unless they have a few aces up their sleeve, and i mean gigantic head turned exclusives, im concerned for sony at the moment. After the direction of the last of us 2 ive lost confidence in the strength of their first party.

Well, it's till a minor thing. It's like sending a picture of celebrities that you hang out with instead of you being the celebrity.

Clock speed bumps will depend on whether they built-in headroom in the cooling system etc. Or the declared clocks could be conservative minimums with an eye on raising them a touch when the final chips come off the production line ala Xbox One?

Seeing the internal design of XSX though I would err toward clocks are as high as they can be. Xbox One was lower power (originally about a 100W system) and had a large box/fan which gave them the headroom (luckily?).

The other thing is the PSU is already known to be 315W which seems really quite low to me given the PS4 Pro had a 310W one and One X had a 245W one.

Guys windows central reported that AC Valhalla is going to be 4k on series X but they didn't mention on what fps the game will run, I'm afraid that we're going to see another gen of 30fps 😑😑😑

It's cross-gen, should be 60 at minimum. Anything a Jaguar can run at 30, the zen2 should knock out of the park easily.

Why they didn't mention it then?? It should be 4k@60fps easily if they want to brag about it but they didn't, they only mentioned the resolution.

If the game will not run on 60fps this whole 1820+ page is pointless.

I really hope I'm wrong.

There is no way that is going to be a 30 fps on the new console..
It will be 60 no matter what. Imagine the pr disaster if it was 30,
That hardware is more than capable, no issues.

Well I hope so but I'm not as sure and confident as you are. Let's hope it's 60 but man they could theoretically go for native 4K Ultra at 30fps.

Well do you expect anything different?
Most devs will push graphics over framerate.
Sells better too.

Hardware capable? Every hardware is.

But you can push more graphic impressively with 30fps than 60fps.

You always needs to trade off graphic quality for double the framerate.

I get what your saying, i just think that pushing a cross gen game and only showing it at 30 fps would be asking for a whole lot of bad press.

Devs rarely market FPS with their games, particularly many months in advance.

Only multi-player games really generally advertise they are going for 60FPS.

I don't care if he thinks he has no value. He is entitled to his opinion. I have a problem with him promoting a fake premise. Him Not having a devkit does not mean he has no devkit knowledge. This has been repeated many times in this thread and it is blatantly wrong.

The same way ppl still believe in Timdog and Mistermedia lol. I feel you, when I see certain names still making the rounds I think to myself "wtf have you been all this time" and wonder why ppl mention those names. After seeing OsirisBlack not get shit right this time around I'll never believe his ass again either.

It's a cross gen title if it runs at 30fps then call me if those consoles are able to run games at 4k with RT on.

Now everybody want to do Sony approach?

Nah MS won't up the clocks this time.
And you are basing this off what? That they already have the more powerful gpu like ps4 did this generation. Or maybe it wouldn't be worth a potential heating or noise problem.
If I were them and made any changes it would be either ram bandwidth or ram size.

That is not a similar approach which follows the crytek engine for RT ? Basically use that LoD level 1 for small objects or those which they know the user is not going to pay attention to its reflection.

No, not like their solution which seems that LoD is choosen by a model's worldspace size -eg bullet casing is small compared to a door,

I was just hypothesizing about how devs could exploit the new accelerated features, like back face culling and mesh shading in RT - when both features are designed around LoD selection being based on the 3D model's relationship with the main camera, or a rendertarget's camera postion eg a shadowmap.
Applying the same logic in RT BVH construction, I'm assuming that ordering LoD 1 object surfaces by their relative importance to the low res RT render will maximize IQ, and give real time RT the option to use varible LoD on that type of solution to maintain frame-rate and resolution with a barely visible (linear) drop in IQ via LoD on parts of models that end up in the scene. - improving efficiency of memory and compute throughout the entire BVH construction and RT.

So how bout that avatar bet?
Sure.

Major Nelson called the new console Xbox One Series X and you said it is bullshit.

So you just need to change the avatar.
It was already a fact what he did before we made the bet but you insisted.

Cept that's not what I said.

Try again.

Put your avatar where your mouth is.

When Xbox series X releases this holiday it will be called called Xbox Series X and not Xbox One Series X.

1 year avatar bet.

So you ask the bet and now want to give up?

You said that.

"Says the guy claiming a tweet has changed the name of a product.

Cool story bro."

I did not make any story and I didn't claim anything... Major Nelson did... you doubt the tweet for whatever reason but the tweet is true, public and can be read by anybody.

Major Nelson called the new Xbox as Xbox One Series X and you wanted a bet.

You have your bet but you seem to be a coward.

Now you come trying to change the bet to whatever fits your agenda :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That is probably the best choice but hard to happen due costs and time for optimization.
So many current PC games run way above 60fps on equivalent (or much less capable) CPUs, even if they quadruple the demand on the CPUs 60fps would be a reasonable target, and given what we have on the PRO consoles when we are given a performance mode, we get so close in many PS4 30fps titles.

I would not be surprised if most games were 60fps this time around, unless they insist on Ray Tracing... then we are in for a low FPS gen, maybe as low as PS360 games on average.

"The Earth is flat, it is my opinion."

That is the excuse of lunatic children arguing with the science teacher at school.

opinion is irrelevant, what matters is the facts.

fact: he hangs out with xbox fanboys. This is the only fact that everyone is sure of.

Thanks to agree with me and gave the reality.

Xbox One Series X.

When Xbox series X releases this holiday it will be called called Xbox Series X and not Xbox One Series X.

Accept it or not?

I never agreed with that bet.
You said I made up story and called a bet.

I'm here open to that bet... the Major Nelson's tweet is public and you can read it.

Changing the subject won't make you feel better :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I can accept that bet if you first accept the first bet you asked.
After we are done with the first bet that you obvious lose we can talk about that new bet.

When do you will change your avatar?

For the first half of the life of the consoles I expect to see more games running to 60 fps but I don't think that will a general rule.

Then when again the PC hardware still much more above the consoles the 30 fps will start again to be popular.

Also this depends in how the devs and artists sell its game to the publisher maybe some see 60 fps are worth to enjoy more its game in exchange of the graphics or also in the other
opposite way.

For some studios like from SIE can choose 30 fps to have better graphics than XSX first party games because as we know Xbox is requesting to its studios to dev to 60 fps for multiple
reasons like be able to downgrade more easily to 30 fps in the older gen.
