He's been saying essentially the same thing since I've ever seen him comment on next gen; that the difference is negligible.

That's a vague and subjective claim.

A TF difference of 0.1 could be negligible. So can 1 TF, 1.9TF (Sex 12.2 TF vs. PS5 10.3TF), and if someone wants to compare against SeX at 12.2 TF, PS5 at 8 TF or 16TF could be claimed as negligible too.

I will make it easy for you. He said the difference would be "~17%" and that XSX would be more powerful.

He calls the difference in power modest. He says the difference in visuals will be modest but you will be able to notice them. He also said these are the closest two direct competitors have ever been and that the PS5 is like a next gen midgen refresh focused on I/O. Says the difference there is significant and by far the biggest difference between the two.

If it helps, he spends a bit of time in the Xbox OT over there, and seems to be absent from the PS5 OT.

You should course correct on this attempt at exposing Matt. He has been consistently right. Doesn't walk back statements.

Also is because the reconstructions techniques are becoming just too good to be analise with the normal way,
they can have more granular control about the culling and the shading in general, when they saw the captures
of UE5 they thought was native 4k.

this machine could be big with GaaS titles. You know why LoL is so popular? Because it can run on every shit computer or laptop. So maybe poor kiddies will opt for the Series S just to play FIFA or Fortnite etc., but only if it is substantially cheaper
 
Xbox Series S got leaked!! That sucks, it will hold back gaming, I hate Xbox sometimes and their decisions, I'm Arabic, so I can read some of these tweets here that are written in Arabic.

But Xbox sucks tbh.

He said Xbox would be stronger but they would be close. Then said close was a delta of 15% or less. He basically nailed it.

Apparently, if the hints by HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 and others are any indication, it'll hold itself back, not next-gen because developers will just cozy up to Sony's checkbook to use the power they want rather than divvy out across multiple, various powered SKUs.
 
The weird Series name is still killing me over here.

From Xbox.. to 360, to One.. to.. Series.. lol

2 totally disparate in power SKUs at launch.. well.. good luck with that MS.

But he's comments about performance is highly questionable for someone who is a developer?

It's like criticising a bread baking in the oven for not tasting very good cause you took it out when it's half done when common sense tells you to taste it after it's been fully cooked.

Especially when a lot of performance optimizing is done late in the development cycle.

Honestly, I always found images captured for leaked devices odd. Like they're in a rush to show you it or something. The only one that was different was when that prototype Series X was leaked. But even then, face down on a carpet? Weird. Maybe to avoid showing something else in the background of the image.

I said before, the last 10 months were Xbox doing everything to convince the hardcore that the Series S doesn't mean they are now a second class citizen.

Without the Series S, the GP strategy doesn't work.

I know it was real at some point, I just assumed that it was cancelled later. So now we basically confirmed its existence, the question is when it would actually launch.

Someone else a while back suggest Xbox should launch Series S later than Series X. If only because it makes marketing easier. This is my current expectation now.

They could do that with a 2nd hand Xbox One. It never made sense to try and make a next gen machine that is nerfed for people who don't want to pay money, when the same people could just stick to the current gen machine they already own.
 
Grubb says it's 3 weeks away, which means the "Xboxing day" aka Lockhart day was pushed forward. Both MS and Sony are taking the piss with this chicken-shit play, be confident in your product and lay it all out.

Imagine, if Sony also delay their planned August event until after this? yikes!

It's a traditional console, expect it to look like One S instead of a tower/cube which you may see floating around.
 
Yeah. Looking like last week of August, maybe even Labor Day before we get the full details on XSX or PS5.

Two months till it launches by then if it follows the timeline of consoles past..maybe even less.

The rush to secure a pre-order for either will be an absolute madhouse.

Yewles respect to you, you know a lot more than you let on. I noticed you had your finger on the pulse asking the right questions since the days when Sony abandoned the Cell processor , but they really haven't in spirit :lollipop_winking:

A lot had changed from PS3 to PS4 , they went from the CPU aiding the GPU to the GPU aiding the CPU (as you're aware). This is why games made to fully utilize PS4 architecture can never be ported to PC unless they are rewritten from the ground up (even though they'll be using same x86 ISA)

Microsoft Xbox being APU aswell, never fully embraced HSA. They act like a PC, departmentalised the CPU and GPU as if they're separated by a PCI bus unable to efficiently utilize GPGPU (tho xbox has hUMA shared memory too but they lack in ACE's), I guess cos Xbox is built around it's directX api's. It gives them the ability to port to PC (but it's usually vice versa)

Anyway exciting times are ahead :goog_cool:

Matt said he expected Xbox Series X to be more powerful but by a small margin.

This was posted months ago.

Every other 'insider' posted PS5 to be the more powerful of the two.
