seems Microsoft fucked things up early gen

they spent years building their reputation back from the ground since 2014 DRM and always online brought them to ground

they preached consumer first and have the right to play their games anywhere and how they want even supported cross platform online play

BC initiative and such

but now they destroyed everything they spent years to build

they never learn

lucky Sony will get this generation easy without much hastle

they are giving Sony the generation free by forcing game pass over consumers at all costs

they are killing digital games purchases on their system

I think there is no longer any incentive to devs to sell their games on xbox platform any more as more gamers will not justify to pay minimum of 120 a year plus buying individual games on the system just to be able to play online lets not to add it is required even for f2p games

this is a dangerous move that can bite them on the ass

GI this generation? at 4K? Doubt that´s going to be feasible. Based on clips, im guessing RT Shadows. On the PlayStation Blog, Store it says:

Anyway, if you only want to put games in the shelf above, maybe you can make the shelf a few centimeter shorter at the end so the warm air can get out even easier?

You're playing the godly PS5 on that postage stamp of a display? Get that. ps5 out of there immediately and stick it on the main 75" with the thumping surround system. So it shall be written, so it shall be done.

Where are the series X graphic setting compared the pc? They just talking about the ps5 vs the pc. Anyway everything is practically medium on ps5, SSAO lower and LOD the lower possible. pc benchmark show a 2070/5700XT handle it in ultra setting in 4k with an average of 56 fps. We are talking of ultra setting, ps5 barely scratches the high setting in some setup if not just in a single one. I don't know how can be considered "optimal" a port on ps5 which has to run at 1800p with a mixed bag of lower graphic setting when on series X at least is it 4k.

It's very odd that this game is specced the way it is on PS5. Comparing this to AC, there is a gigantic difference in performance that I cannot wrap my mind around.

I had one and it was great and all, died on me within 2 months. Now using my many USB-C phone chargers and it's the same result.

It's definitely a disappointing effort from my perspective. Series X is it where it should be but ps5 give me some headache. Now I'm not saying it's a bad port eh but it's sad to see such graphic setting for a 1800p output.

They are not incompetent. But definitely their engine seems problematic for the ps5 considered the hardware specs should give something more. Personally I smelled it from the first DF analysis.

The only thing I can think is that Xbox being on a unified development platform with PC makes it easier for certain devs, with engines designed to scale well with PC, to quickly port their games to Xbox with good results; whereas they have to do a lot of work form scratch for PS5 and they might not bother putting in the extra effort to get the most out of that console. It will probably come down to how each engine fundamentally works and how much effort is put into each version. Sony studios with their own proprietary engines will obviously tailor everything just for PS5 and we will see the best results in those exclusive games.

From a selfish point of view, that's fine for me, because I will ultimately play most multiplats on PC this gen (if GPUs ever become a reality again!) and primarily use PS5 for exclusives, just like with Nintendo.

1800p is absolutely tolerable as final output but hearing medium, medium, low and ultra just for the texture, Christ, the fuck, all that optimization for a medium/low graphic setup at 1800p in a crossgen title? It seems to hear the old PS4 graphic setting for the multiplat. It's disheartening.

I didn't say it was a PR stunt. They would have gone through with it but I think they had planned for an exit strategy in case the reception is really bad. I don't think these giant corporations do things in a kneejerk way, everything is carefully calculated. I doubt the cost of printing those cards is even a drop in the ocean for MS.

Is it proven by now that ps5 has all cores on one ccx and Xbox on 2 with 4 cores each?
Heard about that early on but then I never saw 100% evidence.

PC Version could use VRS for example (can be activated in the options menu), possible that hitman 3 use it, and more precisely the VRS tier 2 as Gears 5, because we can't see it visually. It's totally hypothetical, but that's some of the stuff that could start to be really used now and where you can win some performances.

Ricky mentioned RDNA2 features, implying the PS5 was RDNA 1.5. And it was features, plural.

If VRS is one ... Sony didn't implement that as they had GE. What else you got Ricky?

I didn't suggest anything about PS5, you made that up.

That's the joint statement from AMD and Microsoft. It's very simple.

We have seen VRS tier 2 on Gears 5 and Gears Tactics already. If Sony has some implementation of it and it's their own we have no clue how effective it is in comparison because even first party software hasn't shown it. Since it's their implementation on their hardware on their games you have to ask the question why?
