Next-Gen PS6 and XBOX |OT| Console Tech Thread Redux

Not to mention that Helix has more RAM, compute units, power draw, higher clocks, different node. The theoretical 40 % power difference between PS6 and Helix makes sense, but it could be 5%-15% due to lots of windows overhead and bloat.

I think MSFT has to make a more powerful console due to several reasons:
-They have already lost the console war, so if the consumer were to compare helix to ps6 that's the one thing going for them even though it may not matter much at all
-Xbox One vs PS4 totally destroyed MSFT: Lower TFLOPS, DDR3 RAM with a shitty ESRAM to boost bandwidth, kinect bloat made PS4 the choice for third party games
-By the time Xbox One X came out, it was too late despite better at everything and '4k' gaming. To add fuel to the fire the series S made things even more confusing with 1080p gaming.
-PS5Pro made series X loose its 'most powerful 4k gaming' crown

I think the goal of Helix is to: 1) shut the door on console gaming for good for MSFT as a company 2) transition phase/step for xbox console gamers 3) Build games for the windows ecosystem. 4) Break the cycle/curse of hardware refreshes every 4 years for upgraded graphics.

Likely, Helix will dual boot (see MS presentation at this uear's GDC) so native mode will take full advantage. Windows mode will be at par with Linux by then (its already pretty close in XBox mode).

Its still confusing to me how 'next gen' games will be developed for the Helix and as a windows ecosystem. While they have made great advancements in the development tools, if a game is being made using Zen6/RDNA5 will it be a PC game or a Console game? If its a PC game then you can finally break the cycle and shackle of hardware limitations. That PC game then can be played on RTX 60 series on NVIDIA which *may* run better. You wont need to wait for a "Pro" console or the next gen hardware. If its a console game then its still confusing on how it will be part of the windows ecosystem, and break the shackle/cycle of hardware limitations.

The answer is very simple: XBOX Mode

Of course they need to make it even better, especially the community part of the Store. But first they should release it to everyone so people can see what it's all about, not just certain regions...

There's no AND.
Helix is within the Windows ecosystem.
The console related parts are Series S/X BC.

Its for APU only
So it's 160w for PS6 against 180w for PS5 - not that much difference
160W was reportedly for "TBP". That means everything on the board: SoC, RAM, SSD, mobo capacitors, etc..

Launch PS5 draws upto 230W in peak gaming so it should be about 70W difference. But that's 7nm vs 3nm so let's not get too stoopid about it lol

It's for Orion aka APU only

Where da fug did I get TBP? Was that for Canis? How did I mix up 15W and 160W? LOL

Think again. There should be two SKUs, because they are probably continuing the same XCloud server strategy with the new consoles as the Series X hardware/2-3 Series S streaming currently works.
The person who's repeatedly provided accurate details gives actual information, and your response is to tell them to "think again" because Xbox are "probably" following some strategy.

Fair enough to take leaks with a grain of salt, but dismissing someone with actual details because of your own speculation... Really!

Is the ~160W power draw number for the PS6 still what we`re expecting?

Because that would that castrate the thing even further.....
