where the fuck are they?

cmr06? wrc6? sega rally (now rumored to be 360 bound)?

playing rallisport and richard burns over the past few days, i'm dying to see how incredibly rally game will be next gen. from advanced physics and damage, to good old fashioned dirt and mud, these games will likey look unbelievable.

so, where are the announcements? does anyone know of any in development?

how about some renders to approximate graphics :D

i dont anticipate this thread will go far :(

Knowing how niche Rally games are, I don't think we'll see one till Xmas '06 sadly. On a happier note, rsc1 is on it's way and should be in my hands by the 4th.

dont they sell pretty well in europe and to a lesser extent in japan?

i look forward to anything that comes form the genre. well, maybe not looking forward to everything, but yeah, im definitely interested.

Motorstorm seems to be going in an excellent direction though. if done right, i'd imagine the game will be the one that makes me go out of my way to make sure i have a proper surround sound system.

I'm pretty sure they (codemasters) have CMR06 coming for Euro launch window. They already announced LMA Manager 06 for X360 and it just cant be the only game coming up...

Yeah, I was talking as an American. I think we're almost an afterthought when it comes to rally games. I just feel lucky getting anything rally here.

I'm looking forward to:

Sega Rally 3 - Lindbergh or System SP arcade :D

RalliSport Challenge 3 - Xbox 360 :D

Motor Storm - Playstation3
(we'll see how the actual game looks compared to the prerendered CG shown at E3)

and don't forget the current-gen Sega Rally 2005 on Playstation2 :)

Dont forget WRC5 which i saw some videos from the other day. The crashes looked really good.

edit : ahh, it said next-gen in the title..

well, it still looks good =)

What the fuck? There's already a 5 now!? And where did you see it at? I would love to see it

its called wrc: evolution and was announced at the e3. plays and looks better than wrc4 and has now interactive events like forest fires and other rally cars, that are stuck on the course. also new: multiplayer fighting with real cars. goes and plays the beta. :)

A very good game, alot harder than the previous games when you turn the driving aids off, don't you think ram? The online mode is excellent as well, looking forward to racing the real drivers who take part in WRC, and thrashing them. :D

I only played it for a weekend, but I beat his Time Trial time in that course that opens when you get 1st in all 10 years, and I just give him crap about it as much as I can. Nothing more. :lol

I believe this is the last year that Sony has the WRC license so unless they renew their contract we may not see a Next Gen WRC, that and Evos already is doing a general off road racer. I doubt anyone else would pick of the WRC license. In a perfect world WartHog would develop a WRC game for Next Gen.

Interesting... weren't Sony bidding against Codemasters for some Touring Car championship? WTCC or something like that, maybe Evolution will switch to circuit based racing after MotorStorm is finished up...

I don't think there is. I'm sure some will be made available during that German game show later this month. :)

Seriously what will happen to the RBR guys? Are they gonna leave and start their own company ? I mean these guys got such bad luck.. Richard Burns got brain tumor, Warthog got bought out by gizmondo..

I guess they are all working on RBR for gizmondo. The screens are starting to look a little better but the last video looked like a GBA rally game. I am hoping they will freeradicalize.

i think in terms of driving model its better than the previous games, but overall i am more of a colin mcrae whore (the fifth game was ultimative gorgerous). rbr was also good, but i never liked the 30fps - because simulation based games need 60fps for accurate steering!

but back on wrc5:

the biggest pro is the implemantation of the interactive events - they make the overall experiance a lot more realistic.

Rally gamse always seem to have the best lighting and look the most realistic. Don't know why but it's true.

Hasn't RSC3 been confirmed? And it's Codemasters, you can bet your arse there'll be CMR at some point on next-gen systems, and then yearly thereafter.

That's interesting about Sony and the WRC license. Given that they've made full use of it so far, with a new game each year (2 this year with the PSP version), I'd expect them to try and renew it, but you never know, perhaps with McRae no longer racing Codemasters may be sniffing around it, pushing the bidding up.

Well, Colin is still racing the the Dakar rally afik but I dont think he is doing that great and yeah its not WRC style rally. I thought CMR4 was a nice step in the right direction as far as physics are concerned but they fumbled it up with CMR5 imo. CMR5 did have great graphics and structure though.

It's not next gen, in fact, it's decidedly this gen, but GameSpy lists a US Xbox release of Richard Burns Rally on 9/15.

Sorry, I didn't want to start a new thread...

it keeps getting pushed out. i hope it makes this date and sells decently. its agreat game afterall.

i wish the ps2 version were hitting the states, as i understand it has a more stable framerate and, of corse, DFP support. i'd definitely pick it up again

Online ranking mode ala DC Sega Rally 2 please. I fucking loved that.

hell yes. the only way to do an online rally game. live play is good too, but this is a rally game we are talking about.

man Sega Rally 2 must have been the only online game that ive participated in where cheating wasnt completely off the hook rampant. in fact i dont remember any evidence of cheating at all (not that it never happened), which is pretty much unheard of.

give me Sega Rally 3. i will buy your next gen video game system.

yeah rally is only popular in europe it seems...

Well, Nascar is popular in USA (and not here) so it all evens out. :lol

Seriously though, I tried the latest Nascar game from EA and holy shit was it bad. Terrible graphics and terrible framerate. How anyone can enjoy them is beyond me.

I wonder if some other devs are doing the NTSC conversion since, from what I understand, the original RBR dev team has long since been disolved after Warthog was bought by Gizmondo.

I finally smoothed out all the hiccups in my PC version and added the real robert reid pacenotes. Absolutely amazing rally sim experience.
