So now that all the machines will be super uber... does that mean Sony and MS will obligate developers to try to exploit the machine? What about puzzle games? Or just quirky 2D games? Will they all be relegated to budget? Maybe that could be a good thing; with 2D titles available for download for a fee on the network services?
What about the technology handling the 2D? Does it mean they'll be able to move all the 2D stuff to vector based technology? Or will they stick to drawing really hi-res sprites this time around?
Seems like it would be obvious to draw the stuff out then use a vectorizer to turn all the assets into points.
But would that cause chintzy animation? It's not like they can't redraw every frame by hand while still using the vector based stuff tho.
But then what about all the sprite assets? Does that mean they'll be discarded entirely, and we'll not see a next gen 2D game from the likes of Capcom, SNK and etc ever again?
