Next Round of DS Software - What do you want to see?

Having recently played that GBC Zeldas, I would love the touch screen to be used for quick item selction. Use the OOT engine or MC one. I do not care for innovation, just ease of play.

Rise of Nation/Civilsation/C&C/WarCraft/Starcraft game. Yes all in one!

Unreal Tournament DS. 16 player Wifi multiplay. Do it, Epic. You know you want to!

Other than that, a Starcraft game would be dope. Right now more than anything I just want Advance Wars DS and Wario Ware Touched in my hands. Now.

I think the DS would be a good platform for that Stage Debut game that Nintendo's been totting around for ages but has never released.

I think it'd be cool for example if it came bundled with a DS Camera accessorie and you have to ability to snap pictures of your friends and then impliment them into the game as characters.

I hope they still include all the people that were rumored to be in the game as characters (Yamauchi, Iwata, Miyamoto, Kojima, etc.).

An internet browser feature would seal the deal for me, to be perfectly honest. It'd be handy for between-class hours in the student union where wi-fi is available.

No One Lives Forever is the best first person shooter created.
Are you insulting my monkey?

Whoever mentioned the forums got me thinking. A forum made for Pictochat-like posts (inc. drawing) would actually be awesome. Even Nintendo themselves would probably be willing to set that up. Imagine all the genitals, PSP posts and consequential bannings! It'd be great!

I want to see, for the DS, a totally new game from Nintendo that is not in any way related to their franchises, be it Mario, Metroid, Luigi or anyone else.

Puppy Times.

Oh, you said game, nvm.

so everyone hates dishing out ports.. would rather see news games blah blah blah.. but would people really complain if we started getting quality PC ports? Would it suck to get Masters of Magic, Masters of Orion, XCom, CivIII, etc.? Now the obvious answer would be give us NEW versions of those games, but the question still remains if you had a choice between the port or nothing, which would you pick?

anyway, I hope developers take note at these types of threads and start giving us more point and click games...

or that the homebrew scene busts wide open...

You know what? Sure, if a port of those games came out... I would not turn them down. But why should we anticipate that type of thing? Hell, why should we even ask for that sort of thing? If we genuinely had control over the industry, which we don't, why wouldn't you ask for completely new franchises or new sequels of these classic games?

I'm tired of old franchises. I want new games, things which allow us to explore new worlds and tackle new gameplay systems. If you're happy to settle with Super Mario 1776: The American Revolution As Seen Through the Eyes of Princess Peach Sitting in Mushroom Kingdom As Bowser Rapes her 2, then that's good for you. And truth be told, I'll keep buying Mario games anyway. But I want new games. NEW. It's not difficult to ask for. I'll be expecting the same from the PSP, even if it refuses to give that to me.

I can't put it any more firmly.

XCom....XCom....XCom....I would buy a DS for XCom! Even a port would be OK. Man, it would be so awesome... :(

That wouldn’t be a port it would be more along the lines of a multi format release

I'll tell you what I want to see:

Rush -- a port, a new one, I don't care. Just give me a Rush game!
BattleTanx -- would be a perfect multiplayer game.
Pilot Wings -- a port or new version will do.
Worms -- not the 3D type, either.

note that I am not condoning or condemning ports.. was more just asking.

I am right in the middle.. release some updates (minor updates) on classic games (update them too much and it takes away from what was special in the first place) and release some innovative new games.. I feel we got that at launch. Spider-Man 2, Feel the Magic, Urbz, but then Madden and Mario 64.

Anyway, I am pleased with the launch titles (the three I picked up) and look forward to 8 short days from now when Mr. Driller is released.. There are a couple of friends that wanted to pick the system up this week after seeing it but none of them were willing to get up yesterday morning and after heading to numerous stores only to be met with sold out systems they have decided they will wait until after the new year.

To chime in on what I want to see though.. umm... multi-player on any of the missed online opportunities of the GCN (Animal Crossing, Mario Golf, Mario Kart, F-Zero, Wave Race, etc). As for new content, an RTS seems link an obvious choice, or just a more involved strategy game. more innovation on puzzle games, and ummmmm.. a really freaking slick vertical shooter.. :P or how about a horizontal shooter that has you hold the unit sideways? :P

from an earlier thread

Nintendo should take advantage of classic PC games that require point-and-click gameplay.

Im talking about games like this....

Nintendo is already the king of rehashes... let's use the DS to it's full potential. Leave no gamer behind!

Ports galore.
There NEEDS to be an RE game on DS. The awesome stereo sound would allow for some fantastic creep-out moments. Just imagine playing it with some headphones on in a darkened University library...Or doing co-op with your friend and keeping in constant communication over the mic.

i wouldn't mind seeing some of the older point and click adventure games ported to DS, simply to see if they'd appeal to some of those older PC gamers who never quite got into console gaming.

Right on, great Point and Click games would be awesome on the DS.

I see a potential issue w/ Point & Click adventures... Only the bottom screen is a touch screen. You'd want to be able to click both your inventory and your environment. What would the top screen be used for?

It would be displaying a sign that says: point and click games roxors...

Likely it could provide hints, have a nice background, display an extra inventory (say you have a lot of stuff... your inventory would be split across the screens and you would press a button to swap the multiple sub-inventories) or do some stuff to keep you entertained.

the answer to that is easy..

in maniac mode in feel the magic, both screens are touch screens. there is a little icon on the bottom right corner of the screen that swaps the screens. so you want to adjust what the girl is wearing, you select the paperdoll screen.. you want to touch the girl in in apporpriate places, click the swap icon.

Having to press a button to switch between touchscreen screens would be pretty weak.

Oh come on, not every game has to use both screens to their full extent and have touch-screen capabilities :P.

Ahhh, I just tried this to see what you mean. It's no imposition at all, really. Carry on.

Jedimike nailed it. Point n Click adventures would be fun on the DS.

I'd wished there were more puzzle games that utilized the stylus. For me, the ideal DS game would be an update of Mario Picross.

Seriously, I would kill for Minesweeper DS.

Though I don't know how to convert the different mouse buttons to one stylus.

Eh... some sort of "learn Japanese for dummies"-thing where you draw the characters on the touchscreen again and again and again until you get it, with animated Japanese stereotypes on the top screen insulting you gravely every time you do a mistake.

I just want a title that both puts DS-specific features to good use and offers a full-fledged gaming experience (any genre). I need more than glorified Macromedia Flash mini-games to justify the time and expense of this console.

:lol, I'd definitely pick that up.
