I can upgrade my contract in August, I am with T-Mobile and I see they are now doing a sim only contract for £21 per month, unlimited calls, text and internet. Sounds like a good one to me.

I honestly don't need more than 1GB of data since most of the time I'm either at home, uni or around uni and there's always WiFi connections everywhere. 1GB data is enough for browsing/tweeting/general stuff, video streaming eats it up though.

Yeah that's a great deal if you don't use a lot of data. I've heard really good things about giffgaff.

Yeah, I think the biggest problem people have with giffgaff is the lack of a customer service number but most problems can be dealt with on the forums and via their website. They have good coverage, reliable data connection and they're cheap. What more could you ask for?

I upgraded to my Nexus 4 up from a Nexus S a couple of months ago, loving it so far.
Although moving from the bright vibrant colours of the Nexus S screen to the kinda washed out looking Nexus 4 is still a bit disappointing.

At least you are looking at correct colours and don't have to worry about burn in :) Can't wait to upgrade from my GNexus for those very reasons!

I never had problems with either of those things on my Nexus S. It had the correct colours, the screen was just a lot more vibrant.

If you ever root, install Franco Kernel and use the Suggested Color settings in the Franco Kernel app.

It makes such a huge difference, it's the only reason I keep Franco Kernel installed (didn't notice much, if any, of a difference from stock as far as performance goes).

Can vouch for this too. The colour settings are much better, nowhere near as washed out.

My second N4 drop from 4 feet. Thanks to my $1.70 eBay case there wasn't a single scratch or crack even when bouncing 3 times on the corners on concrete.

Thanks! I just did this and it is so much better than stock settings. :)

I accidentally left my phone on charge all night, does this mess the battery up?

Why should it? I do the same thing every night. NiCd batteries didn't like this, but I it doesn't matter with Li-ion batteries.

I'm pretty sure the phone stops charging once it hits 100% and then resumes charging when the charge falls to ~90 %. Which is why sometimes you can experience that the 100% charge didn't last as long as expected (because it's actually 95 % or something).

The FUD around Batteries is never ending.
Further confusion often comes in for longtime gadget owners who can remember the days of nickel cadmium (NiCad) batteries, which had a so-called “memory effect,” requiring users to fully discharge the battery each time in order to keep getting maximum battery life.

Newer batteries, which use lithium-ion and other compounds, don’t have this issue. However, they do have a limited lifespan and lose capacity over time.
Yankee Group analyst Carl Howe said battery charging has become a complex art and science.

“What’s really subtle is that consumers think they understand that 100% means ‘full’,” Howe said. “That might have been the case with older batteries, but today’s batteries have microprocessors managing their charging. So 100% is whatever that microprocessor says it is — it’s not any absolute measurement of ion concentration or anything.”

Howe says consumers are probably best off just leaving it to the device to handle things.

“We don’t have to understand their engineering to use them,” Howe said. “However, we shouldn’t apply our prejudices formed (both good and bad) from older generations of battery technology to today’s systems either. If it says it’s charged, consumers should assume it is, and not worry about whether the charger is drawing current.”

So there you have it — more than you ever wanted to know about battery life. Now if only someone would just hurry up with batteries that last longer.

No matter how long I leave it my phone refuses to charge past the 70% mark. I've got nothing extra installed but a handful of apps and I even close 'em down to get it to charge but nada. What do I do? :(

I'm debating whether to get this or nexus 4.
xperiaz got that memory card slot. and we'll.. just sexy as fuck.
nexus got same guts a little less sexy. and no expendable memory.

my concern is battery. and modding.

is the molding community on board?
I have a rebound now and even though it's modded, the updates are scarce, I can even get MIUI on this thing without having to worry about the radios going bonkers.

I know now a days battery lasting a full day is wishful thinking. but I read about the xperia stamina mode. is the mode worthless. who ever has the device and surf all day give me your verdict.

also if I get this with tmo is there going to be a big tmo sticker ruining the sexyness?

I posted the same in the experience the read to get there advice as well. so I can make a well educated decision.

Have you run the battery down all the way and tried? Sometimes the internal meter, or how the software reads that meter, can go weird (and draining the battery until the phone dies, or nearly so, should reset that), but the battery itself is most likely fine.

What happened to the first one?I bought the Ringke Fusion and am very happy with it.

Absolutely nothing:)

A simple case adds so much protection. Admittedly I was scared given how many times it bounced off the corners of the phone yet not a single crack.

@Renoir

With 4:30 hours of screen time I get about 2 hours of surfing through Chrome and about 30-45 minutes of Reddit. The rest is texting, occasion all porn, Simpsons Tapped Out and light YouTube on my N4.

Tell me you're joking. You can get it much cheaper directly from Google Play Store.

I'm from Paraguay. Google Play Store is not available in my country. I've read that Google doesn't even allow you to use credit cards from my country even if you somehow trick Google you are from the US (changing your IP address).
I don't mind paying a little more to get the phone, I'm used to pay more for things over here.
I even have to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive and pay another company who takes care of shipping it from Miami to my city. (Amazon doesn't ship directly to my country, I'm not sure on this)

Like he said, the phone is not available for every region. I'm in Brazil, so I had to buy mine on eBay (from the US) from somebody that bought it from Google but decided to stay on their plan/blackberry (yuck) instead.

I paid around 70 bucks extra (counting international shipping) but it arrived perfectly (in around 40 days).

What I wonder is what will happen if I require some sort of warranty. If experience counts for anything, I probably don't have the right to use Warranty on the phone, not through Google anyway. LG sells the phone here for three times the price, so maybe I could use them if required...

Actually thinking about getting the Ringke Slim. I can't stand cases that make a phone look bulky. The Ringke Slim seems like just what I was looking for

I'd say the Ringke Slim is well worth it. It looks good, doesn't add bulk and offers some protection. I dropped my phone down two flights of concrete stairs and it was completely fine!

Protection wise it's great but the buttons feel awful.

I've had mine for a week now and I'm not exactly sure what everyone's grievances with the buttons are. In fact, the buttons are probably more sensitive now that I have the case. Unless that's the problem people have with it?

dropped my phone and cracked the screen last weekend. touchscreen is completely unresponsive. =/

DIY replacement screens on ebay run about $130. anyone have experience with these?

right now i'm using an xperia mini but i'll see what this motorola xphone is all about. otherwise, i'll just wait until november for the nexus 4 successor.

So dropped my nexus 4 whilst standing, landed completely flush with the ground on its back. The entire front screen shattered.

So I took it to Carphone warehouse two days back. They provide a generic quote of 180. Once I pointed out the screen was cracked and the touchscreen was unresponsive I mentioned the quote is most likely incorrect.0 (reddit post on nexus4 subeddit pointed this out a while back)

So the geek squad guy typed in all the details and I was charged 79.99 to replace the screen/digitiser. It is currently sitting in the central repair station. Its been 2 days. If you live in the UK this is probably the best deal you will get for repairing a cracked screen.

What did I learn? buy a fucking cover for my phone. I am using a nexus s and its killing me.
Feeling quite fortunate right now. I dropped my Nexus 4 last week. I was using it in bed. Guess I fell asleep and it fell off my bed overnight. Luckily there's only a small crack in the bottom left corner on the back of the phone. Probably the best place a crack can happen. Away from the camera and the speaker. Front of the phone is completely fine. It's also now in a case. Prefer the phone without a case, but I can't take any more chances.

Same.

I have been using my Nexus 4 without case for about 2 weeks. I really prefer to use my phones naked.

But after seeing a lot of pictures and reading a lot of comments about how fragile the phone is, I ordered a the Ringke Fusion. It arrived today, but I'm at work. I just hope that, ironically, today during work I don't drop my phone.

The official bumper has helped me so much. Dropped the phones running for bus/train, getting up from bed. My dog even hit the phone from my hand once and it went flying. Not a scratch somehow.

I guess I feel lucky with my phone so far. I dropped it from a good 5 feet onto a laminate floor with no damage at all (I keep my phone naked as well). My heart sank when it fell though seeing some of the pictures on here.

I think the negative feedback stems from the buttons not having any feel or feedback. It just feels like pressing hard plastic. If the Fusion had the official bumpers buttons it would be the definitive case.

I'm pretty sure the buttons have been recently fixed with a new revision of the case. I bought the case about a week ago also and the buttons feel perfect.

Yeah, that's not what mine feels like. The buttons give a lot of leeway and feel very responsive. If I press it, I know I pressed it and my phone responds appropriately - there's no ambiguity there. As the above poster suggested, I think I got one of the newer revised cases.

That's good to know. I think I'll contact Rearth.

Wow... I just tested my Ringke Fusion.

I'm pretty sure I received the new revision. No problems at all... absolutely at all, with the buttons. In fact, they are clicky. Looks awesome too.

I was always interested in the Ringke Fusion... might get one to try out after reading all of this.
