So....Matt Barkley would look good in a Broncos uniform.

I'm gonna laugh so hard if Cam Newton ends up with a better career than Andrew Luck.

1. To be fair, he's already having a better career than Andrew Luck.
2. The expectations on Luck are absolutely astronomical.
3. Cam had an entire legion of doubters dismissing his NFL readiness. Dude's proving them wrong. Luck has the opposite going for him.

This is pretty sad....Also, damn Mark Brunell is still in the league?

The most embarrassing news from the week -- and the saddest -- is that Mark Brunell is flat broke. He's going to retire following this season and according to a report from a Jacksonville, Fla., television station faces six lawsuits that could put him in a financial hole up to $25 million. Brunell did make some bad investments, but he was also horribly irresponsible with money. In the end he'll be remembered as an outstanding player for the Jaguars who won a lot of games but is now also one of the great cautionary tales.

Luck will get some detractors when the draft rolls around. The draft 'gurus' are masters of nitpicking. But early and, for that matter, late success for any quarterback is going to be dependent upon his surrounding cast and the coach's/gm's ability to get them in the right system and get the correct players.

As far as Newton goes, he's definitely better than what I thought he'd be. I had no idea he would be as accurate as he is now. I still think that he has trouble reading defenses but that's correctable with serious film study and experience. Do the Panthers have a qb coach?

Talk today in Houston is that Dre IS NOT practicing. Im really hoping this injury isnt worse then the Texans are letting on.

Isn't he Mark Sanchez's backup? Also, how the hell do you end a career flat broke as an NFL QB? Especially one who was starting for as long as he was.

It's really tough to determine how much is Kolb and how much is the team just well and truly sucks at every position.

No it's not. Kolb sucked with the Eagles. There was no reason to believe he'd be good with the Cardinals.

A classic swindle by Reid.

its not the injury, its surgery, they literally cut one of his hamstrings off and left it in there. So it has to heal. Two weeks ago he said the doctors told him it could take up to 6 weeks to heal.

Let Dre sit until the Bucs game. Maybe even let him sit there and go into the bye week. Once bye week is over should be no excuse.

Just wait until after the BYE! If he cant come back then, ....then I'd panic.

I think we can beat the browns and a loss to Tampa wouldn't be the end of the world.

He was middling in 09, he certainly didn't "suck." At his age, it would have been a decent gamble at a good price.

That said, Reid fucking robbed the Cardinals.

Mike Shula is the QB coach.

You were one of the realists after the Saints game that ruined my dreams of 16-0!

Yep this is my thinking. Need him more for the stretch run than right now. Browns are a joke and will be a glorified scrimmage. Bucs they will probably lose to them if Dre is out.

That game sucked because no one expected us to win and we sure heck could have. Red zone problems really fucked us.

At one point we had the lead in the Ravens game, and we screwed up the last play against the Raiders.

Overall, at least we haven't got our ass handed to us. Plus now that we are a dirty team, we'll be in all the games!

But please.. more Ws and not just stats/rankings. Things in the AFC are a real toss up and we have the capability of doing some great things, but I'm trying not to get ahead of myself. But as of now we beat the current top team in the AFC.

Titans/Jags>Ravens
Ravens>Texans :(
Texans>Steelers :)
Ravens>Steelers

At this point, I agree with this. Kolb may be decent but who can tell when he's playing on that trainwreck of a team?

If at the end of next season he doesn't improve, then you know Arizona got robbed and another 3-4 years of irrelevance. Poor Arizona.

Speaking of busts, who do we compare Sam Bradford to at this point? Rick Mirer? Alex Smith?

Texans really have a prime position right now. 3 teams each in the AFC East, North and West can beat the hell out of each other scrambling for playoff position. We just win games against the AFC South, Falcon, Bucs and Bengals and we slide into the 1 or 2 seed with a 12-4 record. Cart before the horse I know but any other AFC team would kill for this scenario.

:lol

They will lose at least 1 game they should win. My bet is on the Panthers. Then they will probably lose 2/3 between the falcons, bucks, and bengals.

Smokey said:

well who takes it then. Every division in the AFC is a toss up...

jets/bills/pats... ravens/bengals/steelers... raiders/chargers/chiefs

If there is a lot of back and forth none of those teams can stack up that many wins.

I think they said from here on out Texans have the 3rd easiest schedule. I just think numbers wise..it's possible

And yeah no joke..I think the Texans can absolutely lose against the Panthers if the offense stalls.

I lol'd at 12-4. See my edit from my post below:

These are scary times to be a Texans fan. It was much easier when we were fucking losers and the Colts got two free wins every year. I'd be like.. "Holy shit we won a game!" ..Like that one time when the Defense won the games for us at Pittsburgh. I wish I had the stats for that game...but we had like no 1st downs or something.

update:LOL!
stats
total yards- Texans 47/ Steelers 422
Final Score Texans 24/Steelers 6

Anyhow..Blood pressure is much higher now.

Looking back at least the Texans won some games with backup quarterbacks, in both the David Carr and Schaub era. This trainwreck from the Colts is unreal. But hey you'll get no symphony from me. I just know from now on those two freebies every season are over.

You aren't a realist, just a destroyer of dreams. A hateful haranguer of hope. A supple supporter.

About Kolb he isn't as bad as he has looked but he surely isn't as good as he was hyped up to be by the Eagles PR and certain fans who just hyped anyone as long as it wasn't McNabb.

Cardinals suck overall. No defense. No running game. Injuries. Fitz is the only bright spot.

Shouldn't the Whiz be fired by now?

Now its top 5 defense, league rushing leaders, we are a dirty team, when the offense is on their game its deadly, etc....But then reality hits and it is November. Kubiak is 6-14 in November.

defeatist is more like it. I'm being perfectly real here, they could go 12-4 or 11-5. Honestly i'll be disappointed with 10-6 given the schedule and the talent on this team. But im not going to have my heart broken if we make the playoffs at 10-6.

how could you be disappointed with 10 wins when your team has never had 10 wins?

yup we had 9!

edit; So if we make the Playoffs and lose in the First round... Does Kubiak keep his job?

Perspective. This team is loaded with talent, plays in a pathetic division and we deserve better than 10 wins. The Texans have sold out EVERY DAMN game since thier inception 10 years ago. The fans deserve as much.

Sadly, yes

It's going to be something when Luck goes to the Colts and re-Texans Houston fans. But it should be a fun two year window of making the playoffs. No reason (other than Kubiak and Schaub) the Texans can't get a bye this year. AFC South is awful

levious said:

pretty easy.
They have the browns here this week, Tampa on the road next week, then a bye, then @jacksonville, then Falcons in Houston, Cincy on the Road, and 2 more division games and Panthers all sprinkled in. They should finish 11-5 or better.

Barring injuries to Foster, Schaub and Andre, and I'll throw Cushing in there since he's playing like a manimal, thats what they should do. Speaking of injuries, Schaub, Andre and Foster have spent exactly 1.5 quarters on the field together this season.

captive I see Texans fans posting during the week. Take that bitch!
I for one, am shocked!

Fire the coach who just took you to your first playoff appearance in team history?

The fans here don't think like that....

just to add

When the Texans started 1-0, their chances of making the playoffs went from 37.5 to 47.4. Then I hit fast-forward to see what the odds are after the victory over Jacksonville improved their record to 5-3 and kept them in first place in the AFC South.

Their chance of making the playoffs has increased from 59.4 to 68.8 percent. Their chance of winning the division has been elevated from 55.5 to 63.4.

Well, looking at the schedule and seeing how bad the AFC South is, I calculate the odds the Texans will win the division at about 98.6. I feel pretty confident the only way the Texans can blow the division title is another outbreak of injuries or a flood of turnovers.

Kolb has been effective only in games where his offensive line has kept him clean and given him all day to throw. But then all QB's in the NFL can do that....well except Tebow..
