NFL 2012 Week 4 |OT| Dewey Beats Truman

It's a laugh that it made front page. Also is it true theres an NJ lawmaker who is trying to pass a bill on making it illegal to have a game without the original referees? I heard that on ESPN.
The post is a rag. No one takes it seriously. At least anyone with a brain but the covers still get a laugh from me at least.

As to your second question, yes. It's true. Some NJ senator created such a bill:

http://www.pewstates.org/projects/s...aker-to-replacement-refs-keep-out-85899419571

He is a Packers fan.

Shields has a firm handful of the WR's jersey from before the WR jumps into the air until the end of the play.

Even in this picture, you can see the hand grabbing the jersey AND the distortion of the jersey numbers because its being tugged.

Shields grabbed him and tried to keep him from jumping. Only real argument would be it's PI on both players.

Thursday night football - Browns any good?

The Ravens defense is garbage this year, but will that matter? Aside from that first horrible flag game haven't paid that much attention to Weeden.

Each part of our team has had good and bad weeks.

Against the Eagles our Defence was great but our Offence was terrible.
Against the Bengals our Offence was good but our Defence and Special Teams were lacklustre.
Against the Bills our secondary and offensive line were awful but the other areas had fair to decent games.

Only chance Browns have is if all parts have a good night and Trent Richardson has a great one. We only have one receiver (Benjamin) who can stretch the field and the others barely get seperation. If Richardson gets a LOT of touches and manages to do anything against the Ravens run defence then we have a slim chance of being able to make a pass.

Unfortunately Haden is still suspended so our secondary is incredibly poor and we still have Shurmur calling plays - he makes dumb choices more often than not.

Just as I clicked this I saw Wes summed it up well.

Basically it's all on Trent Richardson offensively. If he can have a good game we have a shot to put up over 20 points.

Defensively we are doomed. Joe Haden's suspension can't end soon enough.

Sounds like poor coaching. Ravens will win.

$37 million per year in pension payouts for a part-time job is "pretty insignificant"?

Especially when you consider some teams are losing money. The Browns lost like $3m last year. Now they need to kick in another $1.3 so that they can give these guys a pension on top of their 401k? Lol, I sure as shit wouldn't agree to it were I Lerner.

Bionic, I agree with you in theory we are talking about what, like 50 people tops and they turnover maybe 1 person a year? This isn't a situation that is likely to grow out of control.
That is likely true, but that also isn't a great way to run a company where a select group of employees get special benefits.

I think the refs are pushing it too far. They are needed now, but it is not like they are not replaceable. With enough time and money we might even come back with better officials.

You don't usually get that rich by giving money away.

Try and explain that to GAF. These guys can't even afford basic Apple products, how are they going to understand how expensive pensions can be?

With regards Weeden, his first game was terrible. Utterly horrendous. He's played a lot better since then. He's not helped by a weak OL and receivers who can't seperate or when they do can't catch (eg. Greg Little). His game against the Bills was as good with that against the Bengals in my opinion except for two interceptions which really came when he was trying to force us back in to the game.

Enough with this bullshit.

The scabs have proven themselves to be completely incompetent. Can we stop the charade already? The scabs are referees who weren't even good enough for a Lingerie league. Even worse some of them weren't good enough for the Pac-12.

I wish I was a ref.
It would be even better if I was a ref.

I would fuck over the Pats every chance I got! And I would tell the defensive players before the game that I would overlook any late and dirty hits on Tammy. And if they didn't take advantage I would fuck them over!

Man I would quit my job right now for that opportunity. Fuck, I might do that shit for scab money!

Thinking like a Jet.

You can't sacrifice your future for a single season. Even if this season is fucked by the refs and it ends by the refs awarding the Steelers a totally bogus win over the Packers (who will all commit suicide after being boned twice in a season) they have to do what is best for the league.

I would eject the Steelers team from the game and ban Steeler fans from the stadium.

Now to break up some of this football talk...

Anyone else having issues with their PS3? Every time I shut it down it beeps and then when powering back on it tells me it didn't shut down properly. Then it has to restore some system data. Happens every time now. Started about a week ago.

Or am I the only one still with a PS3 :(

As a fan I really don't care whats in the best interest of the league or how much money Roger Goodell is making (the owners should be trying to slash his salary). I care about the league putting out the best possible product on the field right now and that said product is clearly not the best thanks to this horrendous officiating.

That's cute, but uh, people like Roger Goodell are paid by and in charge of the league exactly because they have to do what's in the best interest of the league.

Is there a yellow light?
If there is, youre fucked.
I still have two Ps3s myself. One of them does something similar to that. Its in time-out.

It's good precedent to completely buckle to your employees demands.

Only happens when I quit Madden 13. Have to go the main menu. Save my profile manually. Then can quit it normally. Are you playing Madden? :p

I am not going to lie. I haven't turn my PS3 on in months. Shit is almost as dusty as my Wii which I haven't turned on since Zelda. If I play any games it is usually for 30 minutes here and there while on the road or before sleeping on the 3DS.

I would eject the Steelers team from the game and ban Steeler fans from the stadium.
I would like to see you try that with Tammy being the head of security responsible for throwing out 60,000 people.

I havent really played much in the way of gaming outside of that downloaded game Journey and a bit of Xenoblade on the Wii.

How is Xenoblade? I have it but haven't had time to play it.

And I think the next Bluray I watch will be the Avengers. I am like the one person who didn't see the movie. Going to try and watch it this weekend if I can find it.

Avengers was awesome, sucks you missed out on the 3D IMAX experience tho - well worth it.

Great but I was talking to Sokantish last night and he said he spent like 140 hours on it! I'm like 25 hours in and doubt ill go back to it. Awesome game though.

So you oppose all strikes and lock outs while contracts exist, or only oppose lockouts?

I don't necessarily disagree with you on honoring the contracts mind you, but we are obviously past that.
generally yes, if you have a contract honor it.

If you are defending the Jennings hit (I can't tell) let me know. I'd like to know if I can simply stop taking you seriously.
Like i said, i dont know the context. Was this right after the ball was snapped? If so then no its not a legal hit and should be penalized.
However, if the QB is out of the pocket, he is considered a runner and therefore the receivers are blockers and are fair game. Like i said, its how the Texans game planned against the Steelers last year, whenever Ben went out of the pocket the DBs were instructed to just push the receivers down.

and since I mentioned it when it happened last week, I got a new, better job. I feel like i was cut by the browns or saints to get picked up by a top tier team.

It's great, but REALLY long. It takes a bit of time for things to get rolling, plus there are a ton of side quests, so if you're OCD about finishing them all that may cause you to lose interest. It took me ~120 hours to complete, but that was with finishing all side quests, etc.

Unless a game sucks I can't leave it unfinished (though I have plenty that have never been played). So I will try and tackle this game the next time my wife stays with her family. When I have the house to myself I usually work out like crazy and then spend the rest of the time playing videogames and watching movies. It is pretty awesome. Like being a teenager again! Take away my money and insert weird porn and I just like every other GAFer!

Yeah I regretted not seeing that in the movie theaters.

Well, Ill put it this way. Ive never played an RPG before and Im enjoying Xenoblade.
It has a really easy battle system apparently, and I got the hang of it pretty quickly. the characters are fun and the art design/atmosphere of the game is phenomenal. The soundtrack alone is really something. It made me track down other RPGs so I ended up getting Tales of Graces which I probably wont actually try to play until maybe late December or something when Im bored as fuck with everything else. But by then Ill have WiiU so I guesS I should get started sooner.

Avengers is a really really fun superhero movie. I dont particularly like superhero movies but it was just too damn awesome to pass up.
