NFL 2012 Week 4 |OT| Dewey Beats Truman

We almost drafted JJ :(

Got Aldon instead. He was better last year but has looked average this year as a full time starter. Oh well, at least we have Alex "golden axe" smith chuckin it downfield for us!
Alex smith gonna have an Alex smith-like bounce back game against The jets. 2 tds, 0 picks, no deep throws, 215 tds. Lol

Since we can't draft good talent in the middle of the season unless 2008 Harrison comes back to life in 2 weeks I think we have to make some serious adjustments to how we play defense. We are going to have ditch the zone and start playing more man to man and take more chances on defense. Sitting back with your ass cheeks spread wide open doesn't seem to work on the offenses we have played against so far. It stopped Sanchez, but unfortunately not every qb is that bad.

They did that to pretty good success last year against the Pats* without Harrison and having the DBs play up and lay off on the big cushions. And then they shelved the plan for whatever strange reason. Harrison had another setback with his knees...odds are he ain't coming back soon. And even when/if he does, I doubt his effectiveness. They better come up with something good this bye week.

Doesn't Brent get an assist for that record?
Sure. Some Giants fans think it will affect his chances of being a first ballot entry. I think that's kind of bullshit considering the rest of his career stats.

Fewell seems to think Rolle isn't missing a thing and being held out today was purely precautionary.

Paul Schwartz @NYPost_Schwartz

Perry Fewell doesn't seem worried at all, seems to think Antrel Rolle definitely will play on Sunday.

Also..

Ralph Vacchiano @RVacchianoNYDN

CB Prince Amukamara will make his first NFL start this Sunday in Philadelphia, DC Perry Fewell confirmed. #NYG

I dunno if he goes first ballot, but he definitely has his name out there as a recognizable nfl star... I think stats wise he's worthy As a first ballot though.

I agree. His career body of work is too good to hold one slightly dubious sack against him.

Even if you don't think that sack (and thus the record) is legitimate, he still had 21.5 sacks in one season, which is an absolute monster year by any standards for a pass rusher.

Steve Sabol is also on the list. No way in hell he doesn't get in (and he should). Full list for those interested:

Sam Adams, DT
Larry Allen, G
Morten Andersen, K
Priest Holmes, RB
John Lynch, S
Keenan McCardell, WR
Steve McNair, QB
Tom Nalen, C
Jonathan Ogden, T

Alex smith gonna have an Alex smith-like bounce back game against The jets. 2 tds, 0 picks, no deep throws, 215 tds. Lol

That is a winning line for sure though. I am sure Harbs would be giddy if he got that from Alex every week.

Nice to see 3 former Eagles on that HOF list that should get in. Jaws, Eric Allen, and Sean Landeta. Fuck Randall though, no way should he ever get in.

THURSDAY SEPT 27
CLE @ BAL - Lol Browns...

SUN SEPT 30
SD @ KC
SF @ NYJ - Would like to believe that the Jets have a chance but their offense is inept and without Revis their secondary is meh (Cromartie is okay)
SEA @ STL - LOL? Rams have been bad...
CAR @ ATL - LOL? Panthers
MIN @ DET - Toss up game Vikebike vs Stafford, who can't stay healthy for one season, is he also made of glass?
NE @ BUF -I want to believe in Fitz
TEN @ HOU - Lol unless the Texans self destruct, Titans have a low chance...
CIN @ JAC - Who really cares?
MIA @ ARI - Cards are going 18-0... right guys... right...?
OAK @ DEN - Peyton... you can't disappoint every week right???
WAS @ TB - The Bucs can't suck every week right???
NO @ GB - Both teams are off to dismal starts not even a former shade of their last season self...

NY @ PHI - Lol lets hope Vick doesn't have a change of heart...

MONDAY OCT 1
CHI @ DAL - Pick against a divisional rival, sure why not?

I'm guessing Webster gets Jackson, but who is the more physical corner between Webster and Amukamara? You gotta be able to knock Jackson around so he turns into a whiny baby again, yet have the catchup speed if you make a mistake.

Didn't have any deep passes there either. We just ran the same wham play like 20 times and got 150+ on the ground again. Gunther Cunningham is one dumb mother fucker

I was referring to the audible from Alex on your first TD where he sent Vernon on the seam and pointed and laughed while John Wendling wondered why the ball was in the air.

And Gunther is just awful... and the D-line.... and the DBs... and Stafford... and Linnehan... and the tackling... But the o-line has looked average so far!

Pete is going to ruin Wilson.

His "coaching" seems to be way too conservative and Wilson will never learn how to run a pro offense that way. Let the kid off the leash. He doesn't need to throw the ball away if his first read is not open (that seems to be what Carroll is telling him from what I got from the GB game, look for the first read, look for a running lane, if neither is there then throw away).

Otherwise they should start Flynn and let Wilson learn on the bench.

What a horribly run franchise!

Pete admitted in his press conference yesterday that he's been keeping the lid on the passing game. He seems to think that as long as we don't turn the ball over our defense and Beast Mode are enough to win us games. It's going to cost us eventually, so hopefully Pete gives Russell more freedom sooner rather than later.

Why is GAF such a magnet for manic depressives these days?

I cant read OT without coming across a handful of new threads about how people have no hope or want to kill themselves.

Being depressed sucks, thats why I like cute and happy stuff. Not that Im a particularly prone to depression in the first place, but it doesnt hurt.
the only problem is its not exactly manly, but who gives a fuck?

I think they shelved the plan because of the injury to Woodley. He was our entire pass rush.

After that we couldn't get a rush and LeBeau relied on shitty schemes and prayers to try and stop the other teams. Of course we can't outpray Tebow so it backfired in Denver.

Man only 2 more weeks until the real shit talking starts. I cant wait to see which fan base is more down on their team then.

It's ok, the sheer violence and malice the Saints' bounty program embodies counteracts the cutsie anime and stuff.

I am only down on the defense.

Ben has been fantastic this year.

Isn't that funny? Our qb has played as well as anyone else this year and we are 1-2. Vick has played arguably the worst of anyone this year and you are 2-1.

Eagles D has been really good. All the talk about offense being the only thing that mattered was totally overblown. It took defenses 1 year to adjust and now you see passing stats are down across the league. Hopefully it stays like this going forward, I like seeing good defense way more then good offense.

Sapp, Ogden, and Allen should get in, and I'm sure Sabol will. Though with Sapp they may make him wait. Wish they would clear the WR issue up but they never will. Everything I've read about the voting dynamics makes it seem impossible

Blah I'm so tired of not hearing back from companies after sending out my application.

I feel like Karen Rodgers in the 2005 draft.

I've known that feel in three separate job hunt cycles over the last three years... and I'm entering the fourth. Gets depressing fast, might have to start a thread about it.

Obviously their D is great.

You need a great D when you are constantly leaving points off the board by bad RZ decisions and turning it over 5 times a game.

But no defense can continue to cover for that many TOs.

I also love great defense in general, but man my team's D sucks copious bags of dicks this year so I have to latch onto our offense.

this has to be chris carters year RIGHT?RIGHT?

The problem is that Andre Reed, Carter, and Tim Brown are splitting the vote. And since the guys in the room refuse to vote for more than one WR, it isn't going to change.

I'm sort of a Reed guy. I never felt Brown and Carter were game breakers like he was. Their rep is on steady production and volume. Kind of why I felt Art Monk should never have been a HoF, or Curtis Martin
