I don't get why he can't handle a bltiz.

Every fucking time there is a wide receive wide open and he just runs around and gets sacked and falls awkwardly.

I really thought that he would have picked up on it by now.

Is it that hard? Is he that stupid?

He needs a statue in DC

Silly cajun, thats your career record vs. Browns. Not what I think you'll go this season.

Is it that bad? I never really thought about it but thats not promising lol.
I looked up 2006 and we actually did win, barely, 19-14. but thats not encouraging either.
I also have a feeling that the Browns will introduce a bit of Manziel in the game against us. call it a hunch.

He has no burst left from the bit I saw, it's shocking how slow he still is. Shanahan broke him, I hope that first round playoff exit was worth it!
Totally Shanahan's fault. Yep. He made him run into 4 defenders with no care of himself during this preseason too.

If the kid is careless, he's careless.

If by "broke him" JC means turned him into an apparently super human efficient pocket passer then good for Shanny.

If he is completing 80% of his passes and pushing the ball downfield, who gives a shit if he can run?

Because that's still a huge weapon to have, as Kaepernick and Wilson have shown most recently. He was the best athlete on the field two years ago and had the pedigree to be that high completion % guy on top of that. Dude could have been a right handed Steve Young with a better arm.

He was holding onto the ball way too long. Took about three or four unnecessary shots on throwaway plays moving to his right.

It's amazing how bad he is at avoiding hits. Vick-level.

Better to hold the ball than throw into coverage. He was only sacked 3 times.

Taking unnecessary hits is bad, but not necessarily in terms of performance today. Just seems strange to rip him after yesterday. Seems like practically a career day.

You don't let a kid play while horrifically limping around when you spend a decades worth of firsts on him. Now he's Teddy Bridgewater and not a generational freak. Shanahan showed Goddell levels of responsibility by not being the bigger man and pulling him that year after he first got hurt against the Ravens. He's the one who was paid millions to tell kids who think they're invincible that they're not.

Giants football tonight! I hate MNF football games though. I wish we had gotten our game out of the way at 1pm yesterday but it is what it is.

My hopes are not terribly high. I don't believe the offense will be quite as woeful as preseason has shown us but I don't expect it to be good either. The offensive line will continue to be a problem and the match-ups on paper don't look good. Suh/Fairly up the middle will cause issues against an interior line that hasn't played together long. What's worse is that we'll likely be starting John Jerry at RG since Brandon Mosely barely practiced with a back injury. I see a very run heavy game plan for the offense as run blocking emerged as a strength for the offensive line during the preseason.

Defensively I think we match-up well with the Lions weapons on the outside and Fewell will have some interesting looks and disguised coverages to throw Stafford off. The problem I see is that the offense will shit the bed often enough to where the defense will be left on the field for large portions of the game and things will eventually break down.

I'd love to be a homer but I think we lose this game. 28-17 Lions.

Maybe I'm wrong though and McAdoo and the offense were just fucking with us Giants fans all preseason long? I'm hoping but until then I'm a realist.

It's all about putting points on the board and winning games. 6 points means more than the rest of his stats ultimately.

This new Ray Rice outrage makes no sense to me. What did people think getting knocked out looked like? And people calling for him to be fired? WTF?

Was the punishment lenient? Probably but he has apologized and accepted what was handed to him. Anyone calling for his job is ridiculous IMO.

I mean, literally, he was on the sideline and should have just thrown the ball away right off the bat, but he stood there and let go off the ball right as he got his ass whooped.

Other than that, it was just hilarious turnovers and penalties once they got within 30. I was at the bar with a bunch of Redskins fans. That was one beatup bunch, let me tell you.

Sure, that's why I want to watch. I don't fully grasp how they only scored 6 points.

That vaunted Texans defense got absolutely gashed.

I didn't post once the games started so...

After today, I honestly can't see any real scenario where the Bucs contend for anything. I look at the way the rest of the division went today, and frankly it looks like every other team in the division is better than us. McCown looked like total trash, the offensive line was getting manhandled on every play. And if we can't beat Carolina with Derek Anderson, how in the hell can we expect to beat them with Newton? Meanwhile Atlanta's offense looked back in form, and the Saints are the Sainta. Not to mention all the other teams un the NFC that are head and shoulders above us. And if Martin and/or Mankins misses time, that's a major goddamn blow.

It's only week 1, and we should beat St. Louis at home next week (season may as well officially end if we lose that game), but this just seems like a matter where we just aren't as good as a lot of teams. I don't see it happening. I don't see enough reason to have hope.

You know it's probably way too early for me to be saying this, but I think you may be right. As long as we're in a division with Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Cam Newton, we'll probably always be a step behind until we have a legitimate franchise QB. I suppose in that instance the best case scenario would be Mike Glennon becoming that guy, but I'm just not sure he'll ever be at that level. I like him, but we need a true franchise QB.

After a night of thinking, I stand by these comments. We ain't good enough.

I don't agree with do-overs here. The NFL flubbed this and created a policy for the future. I'd put the onus on the team, who could and should suspend him. Dunno how anyone in that locker room can look him in the face.

Who has vaunted the Texans defense? They were mediocre last year, even when you take out all the turnovers the offense did to put then in bad spots.

The two turnovers inside the red zone would do that. One of which wasn't even forced, it was a botched handoff.

This is a work of art.

Thank you Dolphins! I picked you to win in this weeks pick em pool in the office. I would have won outright if the Bears had won, but now it comes down to Arizona and San Diego. But I am most proud of this pick over the Pats.

People in the NFL have lost their jobs over a lot less than this.

Also did you really think that people would be sympathetic to Ray Rice after he KOs his a woman in an elevator, stands over her for a few seconds and then proceeds to drag her partially out of the elevator while he he then calmly discusses how his girl is not feeling well with whoever he first saw out of the elevator?

Jeff McLane @Jeff_McLane
After an MRI, #Eagles G Evan Mathis' knee injury doesn't appear season ending, but he's going for a second opinion on Weds.

Jeff McLane @Jeff_McLane
Evan Mathis' knee injury is being labeled an MCL sprain. It's worse than Grade 1, likely 3. Not season-ending. But will have second opinion.

Well, that's good news.

Stat line is a bit deceptive, 8 completions were behind the line of scrimmage, 17 only traveled between 0-9 yards. Efficient but 6 pts on 400 yards of production is still 6 pts.

He made his wife apologize like she deserved it. Guy is a scumbag piece of shit and if the Ravens wont do the right thing and release him I hope someone in the league breaks him in half

Well..

Losing streaks that have ended against Washington in recent years: Lions 19 games, Texans 14 games, Rams 10 games, Rams 8 games (twice)

That's rough.

lol Kevin Foote on ESPN sports radio is super pissed at the Saints loss.
It was by 3 points in OT in an away divisional game where this sorta thing always happens despite everything. I think hes overreacting. Our divisional games always come within a few points and it drives me nuts (and likely Falcons fans too)

Not people who can actually perform

Who cares what happened in the past? You should not support something because other fucked up shit happened in the past. It's a heinous act and the NFL should be ashamed. And the way the Ravens team and their fans have supported him is despicable.

Just a few thoughts on the RGIII slander...

- The Skins only scored 6 points because of 2 huge fumbles, and a block PAT. None of which were RGIII's fault. That's 21 points IF his teammates don't drop the ball, pun intended.

- The Texans have an insane pass rush. RGIII took what the defense gave him. #shrug

- In regards to his inability to escape the rush. I think people need to realize what TYPE of runner he is. People need to go back and look at his 2012 tape. He is a track guy, he runs in a straight line. He has zero moves, no shake & bake. He is not Russel. He is not Kaep. He isn't Cam... In 2012, he had clear running lanes because of the read option and is fast enough to erase the angles. AT NO POINT IN 2012 DID HE EVER SHAKE SOMEONE OUT OF THEIR SHOES.

The first third down play of yesterdays game, they ran R/O. RGIII read it incorrectly, the DE crashed in. He would have had a 50 yard TD and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

- RGIII is annoying as f***. But yesterday, he slid. He didn't take any unnecessary hits. The loss isn't on him.

Are you still talking about rg3? Cause he had 241 passing, not exactly lighting the world on fire.

The redskins should have kept running the ball, at one point rg3 had 13 completions for like 59 yards. His yards per attempt probably improved as the game progressed but not by much. The Texans dline was in his face all day, but they couldn't stop Alfred Morris.

I just think domestic violence is an issue for society as a whole not just when famous people do it. there are hundreds of cases yearly with pro athletes a few games suspensions isn't solving anything these people need counseling and therapy not losing game checks. Suggs poured bleach on his girl and didn't get a slap on the wrist since tmz wasn't involved and nobody in Baltimore cares because it was a one time incident. If this was indeed a first offense then treat it like one and seek to help them.

Lance Stephenson kicked his girl down the steps but was just at the espys joking around with drake about blowing in Lebrons ear. This stuff happens more regularly than we think the only reason people are so outraged is because there's video evidence. If you wanna do something about domestic violence go volunteer not complain that somebody wasn't suspended long enough or released.

Bill Simmons is a joke. Where was his outrage in any other case of domestic violence with a famous athlete? Why didn't he call the pacers cowards for not releasing Stephenson? Why didn't he call the steelers cowards for not releasing Ben? These athletes are people just like us and mistakes happen. If no charges were filed and his wife forgave him then let them live.

I agree. He wouldn't have had time to let longer routes develop anyway. Seemed like a solid game-plan to me. He had that weird handoff to Alfred where the linemen stepped on his foot = fumble. Then his TE fumbled a 70 yard bomb...

I'm not gonna forever crucify a guy for one bad moment. He has no history of this as far as we can tell (with a celeb, other folks would have been coming out of the woodwork). I'm not into judging people on their worst moments and it's not like he fucking killed someone.

Sorry Chiefs-GAF

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 2m
An MRI confirms that #Chiefs starting DT Mike DeVito has a torn Achilles. He’s out for the season. Same as LB Derrick Johnson
Damn, I cannot laugh at this. This sucks for the players injured so early.

Anybody else notice Brady had one of the worst performances of his life? NFL rating of 69.7. Ouch. He is getting old.

I watched the Skins/Texans game, hard to watch at times, but RG3's pocket awareness is rancid right now. OL is doing him no favors. This is simply the case of a young QB taking way too many hits early in his career, which has caused other problems to surface. Dropping eye level, drifting back instead of climbing the pocket and throwing with proper balance. Hard to watch. Skins did a bad job with him, but I guess, when you give up multiple draft picks it's hard to build a solid group around him.
