NFL 2014 Week 7 |OT| Newton's Laws of Football

Aaron Rodgers, with 206 career touchdown passes, probably got too late a start to catch Manning. The 30-year-old Rodgers spent his first three seasons as Brett Favre’s backup, meaning he was already in his mid-20s before he started throwing touchdown passes. He’ll probably have to play into his mid-40s to have any chance at the record.

If there’s a young active quarterback who would have a chance at catching Manning it would probably be Matthew Stafford, who became the Lions’ starter at age 21 and now has 118 touchdown passes at age 26. Could Stafford play something like 14 more years and average 35 touchdowns a year? It’s unlikely, but he’s by far the youngest of the active quarterbacks who have reached 100 career touchdowns, so if any one of the young crop of quarterbacks is going to break the record, it’s probably Stafford. Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson are only a year younger than Stafford, and they’re both more than 50 touchdowns behind Stafford.

kas can start jerking off; again.

Thanks for the info Brent but first and foremost I'm a Detroit Lions fan. I want us to win in anyway possible but it starts at QB and we have a young franchise QB.

When they were talking about Rodgers' non-interception streak I was legit shook at the stat that Favre had a 160ish (?) pass attempt streak without an interception
People forget how fucking good he was in the 90s.

He didn't win all of those MVPs because the writers liked the way his ass looked in a pair of Levis (though I will concede that at least one of his MVPs, probably the one he shared with Barry, was given for this).

Introducing Byron Bell, professional...field layer?

Cam had a bad game yesterday, I'm not going to deny that. His worst of the season. But when these are the dudes he's counting on for protection, it's always going to be a struggle.

I was thinking in my mind he was the only one to have a legit shot but he's only had one season with more than 35 td passes. I don't think he'll get there at all but I'm more concerned if he'll ever turn it around and be a consistently good to great QB

I was so pissed when they announced He shared it with Barry. I just felt Barry should of had it by himself

Didn't Matthews destroy him on that play? Not like he just decided to lay down.

The only saving grace as a Panthers fan right now is that we're in a better position long-term than anyone else in the division.

The Bucs have comically inept management.

The Saints cap is fucked with all of the cap hits they are pushing into future years.

The Falcons still have way too many holes to fill in one or two years.

Lions barely beat a bad team again and get all cocky. And another bad team next week. Packers are far superior and will be winning the division.

You lost to the Bills.

I never said we'd go 16-0. That doesn't happen. The fact we lost a close game to the Bills on three missed field goals does not matter. Loses like that happen, it does not change the fact we are one of the most talented and young teams in the NFL.

Panthers fans really need to sit down and look at some of those throws Cam made yesterday and start to ask some hard questions.

No pressure, simple swing routes...almost all of them sailed and forced the receiver to get athletic to make a play, essentially killing the point of those quick WR/TE bubbles. It was really awful.

I don't think Cam is very good, I think he is a pretty average QB, but man watching his inaccuracy and lack of touch yesterday...wooooooof

Rewatching some of the game from yesterday. The third quarter is so frustrating to watch. Stupid penalties killed some really promising drives for the offense. I won't even bother commenting on the Donnell fumbles which pretty killed any chances we had. Its pie in the sky to think about what could have been but the Giants continue to be their own worst enemy.

The "We beat ourselves" cliché seems so applicable to this team.

Just amazed at the lack of discipline from that O-line the last two weeks. Pugh, Richburg, and Beatty especially. This team misses Jennings no doubt. There are hints of a solid line since they were good with the pass block but can't seem to do anything for Williams for whatever reason.

Edit: Man I actually forgot Hillis took like half the snaps. :jnc

If Stafford actually considered to be one of the great young QBs? I didn't follow the sport when he was drafted and started to come through etc.

He looks really average compared to the other younger guys (and has been playing for longer with Megatron no less)

Even though they cheated the Pats did this.

Also Manning I am pretty sure went 14-0 at least twice and the Colts just sat their players to get them rested them so they were soft and unprepared when they lost in the divisional round.

I hope we get a reverse of the game where the Texans won despite being outgained by 1000 yards.

I want to see Watt dominate us on every level and still lose so he leave the Texans for the Steelers. I want to see that sadness on his face!

Ross Tucker brought up a decent point this morning I thought. Although it probably wouldn't have affected the end result, coincidentally both the Bengals and the Panthers did not even show up for their games this week after playing a full extra quarter of OT for the tie. Packers basically shut the Panthers out until garbage time, and the Bengals were shut out completely.

I happen to enjoy the new OT rules but it shows how draining an extra quarter of football can be on the players.

Man everything was better in the 80s.

The greatest basketball of all time (see my avatar) played in the 80s. His only weakness was that he was too sexy.

We got to see Montana, the GOAT qb. If the Giants weren't allowed to murder him on the field I wonder how many SBs he would have won. At least 5. Dude always came up with the goods.

We were still able to get boners from looking at aged titty magazines and lingerie catalogs. Nowadays people see so much porn they get angry when they can't see it on their 3DS and can't get an erection without seeing something absolutely vile and disgusting.

We had Reagan who was apparently the greatest president and human being in history from what I have seen on the television.

We still had our innocence.

Every Panthers fan would acknowledge Cam had a bad game yesterday, but he attempted three passes before the score was 21-0. Nothing really mattered after that. The usual media trolls will ignore that though, and show looping highlights of his INT in a 35-3 game.

You forgot about how there was more adventure without pocket GPS and the ability to call virtually any other individual on the planet. We used pay phones and road atlases and we liked it!

The imminent fear of nuclear war was a bummer but at least we knew it was a quick death (also no one took it seriously.)

Also felt like the future was going to be way more awesome than it turned out to be. Oh well.

Yeah, remember hearing them talk about it on Inside the NFL. Simms was saying both teams looked out on their feet during that OT.

Pay phones sucked dick. I can admit it now!

I am also a fan of GPS. Though I am way too dependent on it.

I think one of the advantages of the pre-internet age was that we were so fucking bored that we actually had to go outside of the house to do shit and meet people.

absolutely, but the Packers are still the better team, at least in my opinion. You won a good game, I believe that was an aberration (just like your lost to the bills) and we will see the Packers man handle the Lions in week 17. I could be wrong, but thats the nice thing about football, it'll work it self out in the end and we will get a clear answer.

The Lions still have to prove they wont nose dive a good season like they did last year, and well every year they've ever been around.

Don't do this ez. I have to listen to this dumb fucking phrase everyday at work. "Hey so and so did u see sharon on new housewives of atlanta last night? Woof!" "Zomg but did u see her husband?! Woooooof!"

I wish this wasn't a thing

I thought all old NFL players were contractual obligated to discuss how much tougher they were and that every game went to triple OT. Which they all played with numerous broken bones and were concussed on every single play but no one ever complained.
