NFL 2015 Week 15 |OT| - A Fraud’s Misses

Oh man I almost forgot. Apparently Jason Taylor is on NFL Radio now on XM. He was talking about Dalton. Implied that it was a pain tolerance issue and he seemed surprised Dalton couldn't play through a broken thumb.

I cannot tell you how much I love sports talk radio.
Ben would gladly play with a broken thumb but would throw 10 INTs in be process.

Just like good ol Brent.

Playing with injuries in football is bigger than the team or the win. It makes sense because the guys that don't play hurt are usually out of a job soon enough.

Then it's obviously Russel Wilson, whose team is worse in every regard yet playing as well. Even given that we are going to give performance awards for intangibles like heart and leadership, Cam isn't the most deserving.

1. Palmer (he is playing the best football on the best football team)
2. Russell (HEART)
3. Cam (slightly less HEART)
4. Watt
5. Brady + Gronk

That's how my ballot would go.

I'm not gonna schill too hard for Cam's MVP award, because really the team is 13-0 and regular season awards without a Super Bowl would be totally meaningless at this point. Undefeated is great but the truth is this is a down year in the NFL, with very few even above average teams, and only 2 or 3 teams who've been good all season. If we go 16-0 and Cam wins the MVP because we beat up on 3 divisions between which there is only one winning team (us), then lose in the playoffs, none of that stuff matters.

With that said, I think Cam contributes more to the success of our team, and especially our offense, than any of those guys contribute to the success of theirs. 35 touchdowns, 28 passing and 7 rushing, with only 12 total turnovers. Highest touchdown % in the league, which means he's throwing the ball less to produce those results. Best deep ball thrower in the league, best in the redzone and best in the 4th quarter. When he played Russell Wilson head to head, this happened,

SEAHAWKS
3 PLAYS, 8 YARDS, 1:58
CAR 14 SEA 23
PUNT

CAROLINA
9 PLAYS, 80 YARDS, 4:13
CAR 20 SEA 23
TOUCHDOWN

SEAHAWKS
4 PLAYS, 12 YARDS, 1:35
CAR 20 SEA 23
PUNT

CAROLINA
8 PLAYS, 80 YARDS, 1:48
CAR 27 SEA 23
TOUCHDOWN

SEAHAWKS
4 PLAYS, 28 YARDS, 0:32
END OF GAME
CAR 27 SEA 23

and that was before all their injuries on offense. He's leading the #1 scoring offense in the league with a worse starting group of receivers than any of those teams. The Cardinals actually cut Ginn Jr. during the offseason, and he's our #1 receiver. We also have a WR the Seahawks cut on our 53. Cam contributes more to the success of the running game than any of those guys. He's run for 42 first downs, which is tied for 6th among running backs! That also contributes to the success of our defense because it keeps drives alive so they can keep resting. I love Carson Palmer but he simply can't do all the things the Panthers ask Cam to do. Unless there's some bylaw where an MVP QB must complete >63% of their passes, then it has to be Cam.

Trejo what's up with Miller? Hes an FA after the season right? Are the phins gonna lock him up?
Depends on the new regime but I'd say it's close to a coin flip. James Walker (Dolphins blogger on ESPN) wrote this which I agree with:

Reasons to re-sign: Production has never been an issue for Miller, who is only 24 and about to enter his athletic prime. His biggest challenge in Miami's offense is getting enough opportunities. Former offensive coordinator Bill Lazor's penchant to ignore the running game has impacted Miller, especially this season. But he is still averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Miller also has made strides as a receiver out of the backfield and already has a tied a career-high with 38 catches for 341 receiving yards. Running backs no longer get major paydays on the open market. The Dolphins have a chance to keep Miller at an affordable rate.

Reason to let walk: Miller has failed to prove he can be a "bell cow" on offense. He's never had 20 carries in a game in four years because questions remain with his durability. The Dolphins continue to search for a bigger running back to pound between the tackles and drafted rookie Jay Ajayi, who is making a push for more playing time. Also, with a new coaching staff likely taking over in 2016, a smaller and quicker tailback like Miller may not be the preference.

Chances of staying in Miami: 60 percent

That seems to be much moreso an argument that your Defense was better than our Defense during that game.

Haha, CAR getting the same treatment that SEA has been getting these past few years!!

"Is Wilson really that good or is the SEA defense making him better than he is?"
"Is Cam really that good or is the CAR defense making him better than he is?"

Cam sure played great defense against Russell. Maybe he is the MVP
Only the greats can make a difference when they are not on the field.

I haven't seen ability like that since Vick used to play.

I fucking wish my qb could play defense like Cam. :(

I just thought of something disgusting. In theory the Pats could play the Panthers in the SB and be on the wrong side of 18-1and 19-0...

They'd have to beat the revolution for that to have a chance and we know that won't happen. Eagles are undefeated in rematches this year.

Cam has thrown TD's 4% more often than Palmer but has thrown interception 25% more often than Palmer while Palmer has completed 7% more often. Probably want to stop using QB rate stats as an argument for Newton over Palmer, because that argument doesn't exist.

I'd love for Jerry to take a gamble on Miller. DMC and Miller backfield sounds pretty nice. We can lose turbin since we still have Dunbar. Draft the best player available in the first round. Need some help in the secondary and some fresh blood at WR would be nice too which can be adressed via draft.

Eli will have something to say about that.

Time to stay off the internet in case one of you fuckers spoil the whole thing. Probably gonna be cashman too.

Sounds like the bionic household will recognize a fourth Star Wars movie!
Can't say shit about the movie but I'm listening to the soundtrack right now. Its goooooood.:D

Doesn't that kinda ruin the movie for you? I feel like hearing the music for the first time in the scenes they are in has more of an impact. If you already heard them it sorta lessens that impact to me.

Nope. I'm the opposite. I like listening to scores prior to seeing the movie and then hearing where it all fits in the film. It also helps to improve my opinion of certain scores to be frank. I disliked the score to Batman Begins when I heard it stand alone but have come to really enjoy it immensely over the years. Especially after seeing the movie.

It has almost no affect on the music's "impact" in the film for me. I'd say it actually has MORE impact listening to it in its proper context after already having heard it stand alone.

Is the soundtrack better than all of the previous ones?
To be frank as a stand alone listen - no. I'd place it after Empire, Phantom Menace, Jedi and Revenge of the Sith. However, I need to hear it in the film for its to really find its proper place for me.

I should say that the prequels are garbage but the music for Phantom Menace is incredible. One of my favorite Star Wars soundtracks.

I feel it's the opposite for me. I want to hear the music first then when I hear it in the movie I get giddy. The only exception being was Interstellar where I heard and felt the organs in the dramatic scenes.

Yeah I just can't see things that way then. I couldn't do it that way.

Here is the list of potential free agents at the end of the year. Cousins and Bradford will both also be FA's. http://nfltraderumors.co/2016-nfl-free-agents-list/

Tyrod isn't on there. The list isn't comprehensive as it doens't include potential voided years (like Taylor's), His third year was voided when he played 50% of the teams snaps.

I still say yes. Although, lord knows what dipshit Revolution will give Bradford, so that's up in the air.

Where's Ben in all this?

I do think Palmer is being criminally overlooked in all the MVP talk.

How is Palmer being criminally overlooked? He's in the consensus top 2 for the award among the talking heads. Brady's the one actually getting shafted. He's having one of the greatest QB seasons ever while his team falls apart around him and he went from the front runner to number 3 just because of losing two games.

But I would vote it like this:

If you have to give it to the best QB, Palmer
Most Valuable QB, Wilson
Most Valuable Player, Watt or Gronk

Incredible to think that Tyrod is heading towards a massive payday when so many pundits never even considered his chances of winning the starting job over Cassel and Manuel. That includes many in this thread as well. Screw you guys!

I think guys like Vick and Tyrod are still helping VT out with recruiting to this day. The number one junior college dual-threat QB just committed to VT a few days ago, the first major win for Fuente and co. I'm sure the success of Paxton Lynch is helping somewhat as well, to be fair.

#Colts QB Andrew Luck is practicing today, per reporters on the scene @HolderStephen & @mchappell51. That's a good sign.

Told ya. Magic unicorn dust.

Tyrod can throw the ball down the field. In today's NFL there aren't many dudes who can do that accurately.

I was definitely one of them. He was just stupid raw in Baltimore and it seemed like he never got any better from one pre-season to the next. Blown me away this year and I'm not sure what to attribute it to. David Lee?

If I'm being honest I wasn't sure he'd ever make it as a pro QB either. I blindly pulled for him for obvious reasons but his development led to a ceiling I didn't know existed. Clearly Flacco is responsible.

I would fucken hope so, he's a great back and his game keeps improving, not his fault the stupid ass coaching staff fails to use his talents. Another problem is going to be if Miller would even want to come back, he wants the ball and might want to go to a team that will actually give it to him, it'll depend a lot on the new coaching staff but I'm sure Dallas will have a chance to make an offer, he would do great with that Oline and Romo.

Can Romeo even be counted on for a full season anymore, I feel like his overall value as a QB (aka including the ability to actually stay on the field) is in a really sharp decline

I honestly thought he had a better than even chance at starting when they signed him. Beating out EJ would be simple enough, but you never know with Cassel in the picture, he stinks but coachs love the vets. As the months progressed he just kept gaining momentum, hope he balls out the next couple of weeks. Haters everywhere (even now), guy is good enough to start for a bunch of teams, especially in this retread shit show of a league.

Edit: He still has to improve in a bunch of areas, but I'm rooting for the guy hard, especially since some of the fanbase blame him for everything.

Bradford will get at least Dalton money, probably closer to Tannehill money. I have no idea what Cousins will get... I feel like he has 0 pedigree outside of the Washington management. Fletcher Cox could also get extended. He'll probably get something like 6yr, $105mm, $60mm guaranteed.

Yes Romo will win his Owl next season
Probably not which really sucks because he's so good and fun to watch

Yeah I worry very much what Fletcher is going to get. He is such a great player. Eagles have to find a way to lock him up.
