I think it was a huge mistake. This isn't comparable to the Falcons trade for Julio Jones where they could trade a future 1st because their team was loaded and ready to win the Super Bowl right then. The Bills are still a rebuilding team. They're well stocked and could potentially surprise this year, maybe even make the playoffs, but giving up a 1st is just too much.

And while I love Watkins, I don't think adding him to an offense led by the, at best, inconsistent EJ Manuel is a guarantee that they're over 6-10. But I understand Whaley and Marrone may be coaching for their jobs, so they felt it was necessary, but it should almost go without saying that if they don't show serious progress this year and don't even have a top 10 pick to show for it next season, they're gone.

Too many things at play, with new ownership coming soon, you're probably right. They making a ballsy move.

Watching ESPManziel...The past episode of Sportscenter was 95% Johnny Cleveland and 5% Jadeveon Clowney. ESPN has found the new Tebow for them to overexpose. Skip Bayless is getting ready for a marathon session.

Yeah this Manziel stuff is way too over the top. I turned on NFL Network this morning to see what they thought of Barr/Bridgewater and I watched for over two hours. Bridgewater was mentioned 2-3 times for a total of maybe 4-5 minutes, Barr was mentioned once as a pick taken in the top-10 and that's it.

Manziel was featured every three or four segments. Those segments were longer than all others.

What the hell is going on. Is he that good? I don't watch college ball so I know nothing about any of these guys but this is crazy.

I think that not making a move because you want to hold onto some picks for next year is a pretty cowardly way to run a football team. If you want someone, go fucking get him.

Manuel could barely stay healthy in his first year. Let's see what he can do in a full season before we declare him to be shit.

NO SJ13...actually, haha, cya you fucking ball-dropping bum.

Of course not. But he's a known guy for people just like you who know him by name only. They don't want you to change the channel so they'll blast you with info until you're up to date. You're welcome.

How's the guy the Niners picked up? I don't watch that much college.

i had never even heard of him before yesterday but i don't follow college football. 3 out of the 4 final CBS mocks had him going in the first (to baltimore in a couple at 17, then to green bay at 23 or wherever they picked).

it looks like he is going to compete at nickle cb and being groomed to move to safety down the line. the way it has been presented is you really need safeties that can cover these days and he is a good cover safety. i saw some vids from a few days ago with the main guy from CBS saying dont be surprised if he is taken in the first as a nickle CB and that's exactly what happened.

on one hand baalke struck out with aj jenkins (a pick out of nowhere). on the other hand, i trust our team with defense as we haven't had many misses in the draft on defense in recent years.

now with the trade for stevie johnson i think we will probably get more defense in the 2nd/3rd rounds. maybe a C or other o-lineman if the right ones fall

I don't get what the Bills are doing.

I thought part of the thinking when picking up Watkins was to pair him up across Johnson so Manuel has two legit weapons. Then again at least their FO got something in return for their WR.

:( everything reminds me of DJAX :(

Great for the Niners. They are built to win now and next year's 4th is nothing for a guy who if he has his head on straight could be the best WR on most teams in the NFL.

Robert Woods had a better season than Stevie, plus they picked up Mike Williams. As soon as they went for Watkins it was pretty clear SJ was gonna be traded.

Best WR on most teams in the NFL? I love the guy but no way.

I believe the line of thinking is that Mike Williams (born in Buffalo) and Stevie Johnson (born in San Francisco) are interchangeable.
And given their stat lines the past two seasons I'd be hard-pressed to find fault with that theory.

Can't wait till we pick. I'm hoping for Bitonio/Moses to replace Polumbus at RT or get NIx to move Cofield to DE with Hatcher.

Forgot about Woods. Makes moar sense now.

This is a franchise that drafted Willis McGahee in the first round after he blew out his knee in front of the world. They had a ton of holes to fill that year and still drafted him like he was Walter Payton.

Willis played two seasons before being traded to Baltimore. The Bills then draft Marshawn Lynch in the first round to restart the cycle of taking rbs and then trading them to make other teams better.

This is why they can't win. They can't draft for shit.

Sounds good. Who are the better defensive guys left?

Last few drafts under Whaley/Nix have been pretty good. Kiko Alonso, Robert Woods, Stephon Gilmore. Jury's still out on Manuel, of course (who they traded BACK to get), but equating this regime with the one that drafted McGahee, Maybin, Lynch, Whitner (the list goes on) isn't exactly right.

top CB's remaining according to scouts inc:

Stan Jean-Baptiste CB 6'2⅝" 218Nebraska

Lamarcus Joyner CB 5'8" 184 Florida State

Bashaud Breeland CB 5'11⅜"197 Clemson

Keith McGill CB 6'3⅜" 211 Utah

Pierre Desir CB 6'1" 198 Lindenwood

Phillip Gaines CB 6'0⅜"193 Rice

Jaylen Watkins CB 5'11½"194 Florida

Aaron Colvin CB 5'11⅜"177 Oklahoma

Dontae Johnson CB 6'2⅛"200 North Carolina State

but i'm not sure we draft another corner in the 2nd or 3rd. i think we could look at some linebackers or dline but we kind of have that set already. we could go for some o-line depth. i guess it's a good position to be in that we could start the season tomorrow without any additional draft picks needed but we still need to be smart because we won't have 11 picks every year. we need to have things ready for when we lose guys in the future

I think you guys need a new DE.

Am I just racist or does Ha Ha look a lot like Eddie Murfy when he smiles/laughs?

He looks shocked and sad. Like he did last night because he thought he was going to Philly.

He asked to be drafted by the Eagles the day before. We could have had HA HA Dix and Fletcher Cox on the same D.

Dix and Cox. All in Romo's face.

I don't really follow football at all but just reading this thread about Johnny Football's fall is just perfect for a boring Friday at work. lol

I like this 49ers trade offensively they seem set, especially if Lattimore can give them something at the RB position for depth, and Gore can still get his touches.

Damn the NFC West is going to be filled with murderous games. The Niners and Hawks are bonafide great teams but damn at the STL haul in the first round and I haven't forgotten that the Cards beat the Hawks at home last season.
