NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

All valid points, I suppose, but what I'm driving at is that how would you police this policy on the field? It doesn't make sense for a player to go out of their way to injure a player because that would incur a penalty, fine and possibly suspension, which would dwarf the reward they receive. So optimally you would take players out with legal hits, which presents the real problem: you would either redefine a legal hit in such a way as to eliminate danger of injury, which is pretty impossible or being extremely vigilant on team policies to ensure this doesn't occur again, which would require more oversight from the league on team operations.

Option 3: You nuke the Saints from orbit and let their charred remains be a reminder to all who think to tread that ground in the future.

While thematically fantastic, it doesn't really change the game enough if teams think they can get away with it. It took a whistle blower from a team as in the spotlight as any other to uncover the Saints' shenanigans.

You realize this cost Payton what, $8 million? It cost Greg Williams his career. No coach is going to put up with this for a long, long time.

Excuse me but the title says "NFL" thread.

It's not our fault you guys hate women.

Final thoughts

It's a white washed version of Battle Royale made to appeal to dat 18 to 34 demo. If you're intrested take your girlfriend/boyfriend with you. If don't think this worth your time, but like the concept do yourself a favor and go watch Battle Royale instead.

-DCX

Can't comment on your other thoughts because I haven't seen the movie but I did read the books and completely disagree with the Battle Royale comparison. There is no comparison. Its not even trying to be anything similar, the story is completely different with the only similarity being the the fight to the death tournament. Its not a white washed version.

Back to football:

-Maybe I missed it but will there be any investigation and then punishment for the Redskins for when Williams was their DC and running the bounty system?

-Rumor from LA Times news story: Reid threatened to walk away from the Eagles if more personnel power was not given to him (it has been rumored that with new GM Howie Roseman in place Reid had lost some of his pull). They then imply the resigning of key players like DJAX (who Reid loves) was due to the Eagles caving to Reid's demands. Same with extensions for Trent Cole, Herramans, Mathis, and the trade to bring in LB Ryans.

-HAHAHAH@ Jets.

-I love the punishment the Saints got. They deserve it but it does bother me that in comparison the Patriots only got a slap on the wrist. And it seems like the main reason for the severity of the punishment is that they lied to GODell. Cheatriots stole the Eagles championship in 2004 man!

I know that feel man.

Granted half of our team was on roids during the Super Bowl season, so that chip would've had an asterick on it even if John Kasay could kick straight.

Is Jacoby gone yet?

They can not cut Jacoby till June. If they cut him now they owe him 2.9 million. If they wait until June it wont cost anything.

Dreesen doesnt hurt that bad. Graham spent last season in IR and will be pushed to the #2 spot. Another Wisconsin Badger to the rescue. jnc

Aww...now NBA-GAF is gonna snitch on us for being too insular :(

Come on man, don't paint everyone with a broad brush, every group has it's share of morons and idiots. No one is snitching or anything. I don't want anything like what happened with the NBA thread happen to another community on here. It sucks.

I was mostly kidding :P

We often lament about being moved to Community any day now.

Not that a single one of us would care.

Clearly Colts are taking RG3.

Fuck you guys too! You and your steroids destroyed McNabb's ribs on the first play and then your CBs mauled poor old James Thrash and Todd Pinkston with no pass interference calls. It was after that game, and the AFC Champ game where the Colts cried to the NFL, that they changed the rules to where now the CBs can't touch the WRs.

I'd welcome that move for all the sports threads, honestly.

Has any other major talking head besides Merrill Hoge lobbied for the Colts to take RG3 over Luck?

I doubt you will agree but I thought that the Eagles did a much better job of bringing in guys towards the beginning of Reid's tenure when he had all the power. I think spliting things 3 ways like they did can make things a bit confused. hopefully with one clear voice in charge things will be better going forward.

Is Jacoby gone yet?

For some reason Kubiak loves Jacoby. With that said, they have drafted/signed people to replace him, but none of them have worked out. Ultimately I think that Jacoby will find himself cut during camp this season. This is the first year that management has openly said they are looking for help at the WR position, making it a real priority.

Spotify is the best out of all of them. Pick and choose whatever you want, set up playlist, listen to other peoples playlists, listen to whole albums.

Spotify destroys pandora. Going on a road trip to atl today and grabbed a road trip playlist and synced it locally and I'm set. Pandora takes too much managing.

Definitely, and pandora's random matching is so far off sometimes. I much rather prefer choosing my owns songs to listen to
