Yeah that much running is bad for you.

Stop running and get a bike. Same cardio but with almost no impact on your joints.
I'm going to say no on "same cardio" point. The last 4 years I was only doing cycling for cardio. Could be out for many hours before I felt the burn that I do running.
Wasn't like a new thing, I ran cross country and track in high school.

Added running and rowing last year, running is both the toughest form of cardio and toughest on body. I'd say rowing is the second toughest on body unless your form is essentially perfect.
Worst part of biking is the drivers. I've had 3-4 close encounters over the years. My mom has actually been hit before.

I did start cutting back recently and joined a gym. It was probably in the beginning of June I would run about 7-8 miles a day throughout the week, and then toward the end I joined a gym. It was 1.5 miles away so I cut down to running twice a week and then running to the gym the other 3 days a week. I felt great, it was the dancing from the 6 concerts in 8 days that did me in. But I know I need to cut down running, I'm working on going to the gym more

How bad is your hip bothering you?

Because if it's a serious problem obviously avoid heavy lifting or even heavy cardio like you were doing (I consider what you were doing heavy cardio and wish I could).

Depending on how bad your hip is at the very least you can do some light exercises like push-ups, shoulder raises, assisted pull ups to stay in somewhat shape physically and mentally.

Even 100 proper squats in certain reps, without weight help so immensely but if your hip is in pain like that avoid that and get it checked out ASAP by a Doctor.

It's nothing excruciating, just pretty annoying when I walk around, and enough to keep me from working out. And it comes and goes, I just think it's a bit inflamed. I haven't worked out since it started hurting either since I figure rest is the best thing for it. But since it's still bothering me, I set up an appointment with my physician to check it out in a week.

Eh, it's good enough cardio and for a guy with bad knees it is a million times better on the joints. Speaking of the burn, it takes me a long time to feel it either running or biking. Plyometrics on the other hand makes your heart feel like it is about to explode. Weighing everything together though I still feel like biking is the best available option. I heard eliipiticals are good but I never used one.

I do agree it can be dangerous on the roads. I would stick to trails if possible.

I might have fucked up my left knee. Getting a call from the hospital later this week to book an appointment to have it checked out.

I just lift, play tennis, and do yoga

anything involving long distances is the absolute worst
(anything more than 100m is long)

If it's enough to be annoying while you work out or keeps you from working out, it's a problem. A big problem, but one that could still be remedied

Even at 6'5, I've never had hip problems nor do I understand how they affect someone. I've seen one or two family members who have had it and it can get bad.

I mean, I wouldn't even work out at this point until you see your Doctor because things could get a lot worse. Even the light push-ups. Consult Dr. RBH or Dr. Rando and in the meantime rest and wait for your actual doctors appointment.

Balkan Slavs and their tennis lol. Pops is the same way, a huge fan of tennis, still plays at 60+ and dominates. He's Albanian from the 4,000 ft high mountains of Montenegro where the line between Albanian and Serb gets very blurry.

Give up. Be old and get an endless pool.

You mean like one of these:

Swimming is the goat cardio exercise.

Also, as resident Dutchman and thus biking expert, I'm willing to give you guys classes.

Agreed, I wish there was a pool by me that I could use, but getting to the nearest pool is really convoluted for me.

I'd also put rowing up there but you gotta know good form. I see too many people on the rowing machines at the gym that immediately shoot their ass out when they start pulling. That just wastes all the power from your legs and puts the entire strain of the stroke on your lower back. Really easy to strain a muscle if you're not careful

Yeah I'm 6'5'' too but I've had numerous problems with my legs and back so I'm used to it. And yeah I'm not gonna work out till I go to the doctor. My dad is a surgeon so I've been going to him for advice until my actual doctor can see me.

I hurt my left knee yesterday slipping on a wet, grassy levee :-(

Feel like I escaped a worst case scenario though.

The cheap premixed sangria involved hurt me even more

Yoga has done wonders for my lower back and core.

Thank you, Yoga.
Yoga is the really the best.

Looks really corny, but it is effective (you will sweat like eznark at a BLM protest if you do it right) and you feel fucking fantastic afterwards.

It also gave us yoga pants so we didn't have to imagine what random girls looked like naked.

Where the fuck were yoga pants when I was in high school?!

All I saw were baggy mom jeans.

I bitch about a lot of things but bitches are one thing that have definitely gotten much better with modern technology.

That said, it says something that we were still able to get boners in the 80s and 90s when girls were wearing oversize shirts and baggy ass pants or having ghetto ass heavy metal makeup and hairstyles. Kids today got it easy with their snap chat and yoga pants. Back in my day you were lucky to get a Victoria's Secret catalog!

Back in our day, you got a boner when a girl's bra strap accidentally was exposed.

Today? Kids straight up see vagina through yoga pants.

Ain't right!

Forget the bra strap.

We used to watch scrambled fucking porn. Who knows what we were even actually watching! It could have been a WWF match with porno audio for all we know. You might have been masterbating to Goldberg DM! Now kids today have 24/7 access to more porn than anyone could ever hope to watch (even though these sick fucks try their best to get through it all).

Even worse, if our dads wanted to watch porn they had to go the movie theater with like 500 strangers.

This is why kids today are weak. A young lawyer should be able to outwork me, but these kids have no heart and I bitchslap all of them down. Its the old evil motherfuckers that give me problems...

Ok enough porn talk. Going to grill some $8 steaks outside in 90 degree weather. Wish me luck!

Too true, scrambled porn and old faded porn magazines was all we had or work out videos if you were really desperate. Kids have it so easy now
