Still a lot of dead money on the books for an aging RB.

If they pay it out in a lump sum the cap hit will be low, the dead money skyrockets if he's cut the year they payout that bonus, but it should stabilize after that.

Similar to what the Phins are trying to do with Suh. A ton of upfront paid out money, then more reasonable pay down the road with higher cap amounts since it's probably straight salary instead of paid bonuses.

No. Guaranteed money is a bullshit term that agents use. The only true guaranteed money is the signing bonus. Not roster bonuses and other crap that Rosenhaus would like you to believe is certain when it is not.

So he receives a $13 million signing bonus. We'll see how much of the other money is within the first two years.

You guys are right, it doesn't seem that bad compared to where he was at.

In good news the Browns have not embarrassed themselves this week, a big victory if I do say so myself.

Thus meaning tomorrow or Tuesday we will probably fuck up. :(

It never, ever is as bad for the team as the media reports, because ALL pro football leaks come from agents. They've even managed to bastardized the word guaranteed.

PFT: LeSean MCoy gets $16m in 2015 from Bills.

It sounds like a $15M bonus with a $1M salary. Over a 5 year contract, that would make this years salary cap hit $4M.

Don't see the big deal. Doesn't hurt their cap and he is worth the bonus.

Eagles should have restructured him similarly. Lower the cap hit and reward him for past 5 seasons.

Happy for McCoy.

When players are making these deals, do they believe the money is "guaranteed." Every other sport, "guaranteed" means guaranteed.

Good for McCoy to restructure. This was going to need to happen if he was going to stay with the Eagles anyway.

Amazing deal for Shady... good for him

Rex continuing to show why he'll never win as a head coach. I doubt that deal was all the GM's doing

Well if he's cut anytime, all of the dead money will then count against cap, so going by the 26 million guaranteed, he still has 20 million or so dead money on the books after this year.

Not sure if they spread it out through all 5 years, tho. Kinda doubt it.

One more time. That guaranteed money is not guaranteed. Just the signing bonus of $13M.

Txtgate decision has to come soon. Really it's unfair to Browns not having a resolution yet. FA starts this week. And not knowing if we're gonna lose a pick kinda handcaps any possible trades or transactions the team might make. Goodell always trying to keep the cleve down

NFLPA is a humongous joke.

Yeah they need to seriously clear contract terms up for players.

A lot of players are not money savvy or business savvy and basically get taken advantage of.

NFLPA should also teach finance 101 to players as a mandatory thing... or NCAA should do it. Too many players go bankrupt

From Shadys point of view it doesn't really matter.

The Eagles are paying him $3.4M the next two years and the Bills just pumped $16M into his bank account.

That's $17.7M for one year and $19.4M for 2 from two different teams.

Not to mention that he has probably some for sure money the two years beyond the first with the Bills. He's getting paid plenty well.

The Bills did the smart thing and paid out the cash upfront.

So, all that matters is the signing bonus.

In terms of dead money, absolutely. We'll have to see the details, but I'm guessing there's some roster bonuses towards the end of the contract that will make McCoy a likely cut in 3 years.

They do. There is a large finance portion to rookie week. I think it's the league that does it and not the union, though.

Keep on believing friends:

Tim Tebow's dream of playing in the NFL isn't dead just yet.

The polarizing quarterback who thrilled the football world with an improbable run to the playoffs in 2011 is still training in hopes of getting one more shot to show his stuff, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports.

Tebow is working in Los Angeles with Tom House, best known as Tom Brady's personal coach, who says his new pupil is making great strides.

"(Tebow) went from being a little inaccurate and didn't throw a whole lot of spirals, to throwing very accurate and real good at spinning the ball," House told the Globe.

Volin points out the NFL is holding the first ever veteran combine on March 22 and mentions Tebow as a possible participant. House says he doesn't know if Tebow plans to attend the event.

Ndamukong Suh will sign with #Dolphins on Tuesday based off parameters around $114 million and $60 million guaranteed, per sources.

No fucking way

He'll play two seasons of that contract; they'll win ten games over that period; he'll get cut and then the cycle for the Bills will start all over again by ruining another RBs career by reaching and drafting him in the first round.

With that kind of money fines become wholly irrelevant. Dolphins gonna have blood on their hands.

If he gets a bonus this year, that is where the dead money will likely be attributed.

What bonus money does is lower the cap hit, while at the same time increasing the dead money. It makes sense for a team to do that, because once they get beyond that year with the bonus and huge dead cap potential the contract is typically much more team friendly and allows them to move away from the player more easily if things don't work out.

One more time. That guaranteed money is not guaranteed. Just the signing bonus of $13M.

You could always structure the contract so that way your player is paid his guaranteed money one year in advance. Your player is effectively ensured to see at least a good portion of that money regardless of whether the team needs to cut his ass or not. But then, what kind of jackass sorry franchise would fall for that shit?
