Can someone explain to me how different teams have different salary caps? I never understood this. Like the Jaguars have a cap of $167m, more than $20m over the actual cap. What is this from?

Carryover from prior year. What cap space under the cap you don't use in a league year can be used the following year.

Cdy was saying colts have a better line than sea when they can't do anything well.

My bad you didn't quote anyone so I thought you were referencing that gif.

The CBA rules go over a multiple year period. So they prob spent less last year

Incredibly Naive
It's not all his fault. Rodgers didn't call two field goals and 4th and 1 at the goal, Rodgers didn't botch an onside kick, Rodgers didn't allow a 30 yard air ball 2pt

Rodgers is often better than his team shows. Plus he's had injuries at bad times

oh honey.

OK, that makes sense.

So what happens next year for the Jaguars if they were to spend to 167m? And say next year's salary cap is $150m. Does it reset to the league cap if you exceed it the previous year?

Glancing at the stats, Luke Wilson has caught 70.5% of his targets with 42 receptions on 68 targets.
Fleener is at a healthy 56.5% with 129 receptions on 228 targets. I know it's a small sample, it's not all on him, and I'm no football guru myself but I'd be wary of the guy who makes the catch only half the time.

They are better at pass protecting than ours is. Russell's scrambling ability prevents so many sacks, it's a goddamn miracle we aren't dead last in passing offense.

They have to be under the new cap for that upcoming year. Its a dangerous game and that is why most teams have a cap specialist on staff to work these things out.

Saints restructured a bunch of contracts. Somehow they are about 2.5 million under cap before some additional roster moves. Loomis is a pretty good GM. The defensive player talent scouts sucked though. They let them go.

For some reason the web site won't take my money.

Yeah, I had the problem, and then they flagged my card and I had to call them to get it reactivated. I got super annoyed and swore off buying it, cause I got turned down at dinner (thank god I had my other card on me). Eventually I caved, bought it and binged on it for a week I was sick from work for like 50 hours. I had to tell the bank to let the transaction through.

Restructuring is borrowing from the future, good GMs don't do that.

$9 million for Thomas seems a little high, but all contracts seem to be going high, and the difference between $8 and $9 million isn't that big in the scheme of things with the massive cap room the Jags have.

Getting someone who is at least dependable as a receiving threat in the tight end position is outstanding. I love Mercedes Lewis, but the dude is always inconsistent, it's the only thing consistent about him. Young QBs + good tight end = better.

So am I the only one who gets confused as to why people make a big deal if a team overspends for a player?

The only thing that matters in an NFL contract is the guaranteed money. If a player decides to cash it in and sucks then he gets cut and thats it the team moves on.

Also adding on to the overspending, it is almost a requirement for shitty teams.

Julius Thomas had offers from the Jags and Seahawks, if the Jags had offered the same amount as the Seahawks there is no possible chance he chooses them over Seattle.

When your team is crap you have to overspend or free agents wont even glance your way.

Devin McCourty was on Mike and Mike this morning even saying the same thing, he had a large offer from the Jags but ended up taking a hometown discount because the Patriots have a chance to win a SuperBowl every year while the Jags dont.

We need to step our fandom up. Cdy is a Hawks fan and he's watched more Colts games than us!

andre make the right decision and come join us in the pacific northwest

the weather is great up here lately you'll feel right at home unlike those frozen people on the east coast

All I know is the NFC West let me down. They gave the Pats a ring. Rodgers wouldn't have allowed that. I've learned to loathe Bevell the way Seahawk fans have. :(

I've also learned I'm a Super Bowl jinx.
