NFL Offseason Thread 3 - Drowney for Clowney Mech, Drowney for Clowney.

NBA Playoffs > March Madness (back when the good teams were actually good, fuck upsets)> Ice Soccer Championships > FIFA World Cup > March Madness (now) > NFL Playoffs > MLB Playoffs

UCL is right up there in terms of excitement too, but the format is too different to be directly compared with the American sports.
NFL Playoffs > World Cup > a bunch of stuff that's mildly interesting because it's the NFL offseason

of course you would find the NFL Playoffs lower on the list. your team is rarely in the playoffs and when they are they get styled on by mr. swag!

At least we make fun of our ex-player/murderer, you guys still love yours. you colts fans disgust me.

Innocent till proven guilty in a court of law bro!

Movie was worth it for me just for the wind turbine scene and spidey in a firehat.

That was a great moment, basically whenever Spider-Man showed up the movie was at its best. The lead actors are good too, but lol Jamie Foxx. At least he tried.

ew what

nba playoffs>nfl>nhl>the rest>march madness

how dare you insult our great football league by putting it below march madness

Actually you right NFL Playoffs > Current March Madness

SMH all this ridiculousness just because Duke lost to a mid major.

The basketball is shitty. Like super shitty. I'd be saying the same thing if Duke won the title this year.

People are confusing shitty ass basketball where no one can actually inbound the ball without falling all over themselves and everyone has ten minute stretches of "turnover, turnover, turnover, brick, turnover, brick" with exciting just because the scores are close. No fuck that.

The NBA playoffs have been such a breath of fresh air, because for the most part, all of these games have had stretches of great basketball. The execution has been crisp and the shot-making superb.

NFL is still the best

a series is a bunch of games no one gives a shit about until elimination is on the line, and the favorite going in usually wins

BOOOOOORING

Agree and disagree. I do love the gruelling marathon of the NHL playoffs, but it just makes an already long season feel far longer than it should. But yes, one and done is what makes the NFL games so big.

Why do I even watch sports?

I'm trying to think positive, and realize we would've gotten crushed by the Heat anyway, but sigh, fuck the Nets.

FMT, since 2000, the Niners have been in the playoffs one more time than the Panthers.

Since the Panthers have been in the league (1995), the two teams have played in the same exact number of Super Bowls (1) and lost the same number of Super Bowls (1).

At least the Panthers didn't get styled on by bum-ass Flacco. We got cheated by a league-wide conspiracy involving Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Paul Tagliabue, and the Pats' AV guy. What's your excuse for losing to Bert?

NFL is the best and anyone that says otherwise is dumber than Gata.

Man I had such a sweet lay-up today during bball. Double clutch and changed hands. Brought me back to the glory days. I can barely walk now though so maybe I should stick to being a 3 point and defensive specialist.

I'm excited for Wednesday, let alone Thursday. Because of the Mayock mock. All the other accurate mockers who only post one each year usually do it the day before/morning of too.

so worst harbs felt bad and traded boldin to use.

and despite not having made the playoffs for most of the past decade, the 49ers had more playoff wins in last years 49ers vs. Panthers game than the panthers have had in the 8 years before that game. also if you want to go in the way back machine you will lose the argument with a 49ers fan

NFL Playoffs > MLB Playoffs > March Madness > NHL Playoffs >>>> the bad officiating exhibition called the NBA playoffs

Hard for me to rank the world cup because I don't give a crap, but it probably deserves a top 3 spot because I do pay attention despite not giving a crap.

Can't take the NBA playoffs seriously. Watched a bit of the Nets/Raptors today, good lord. Just let them call their own fouls and fight each other on the court, at least the players would be deciding the game that way.

The way-back machine is irrelevant when comparing a franchise from the 90s with one from the 40s. Of course you're going to have more fucking wins and success.

Don't be a Packers fan, you're bigger than that. (And by Packers fan, before anyone asks, I mean pull out old ass championships you won in the Stone Ages to compare your franchise with other franchises. Were black people even allowed in Wisconsin back when GB won all those NFL championships? The only fair way to compare franchises is only including years where they were both in the league)

basketball is the greatest sport in the world. while the nba rules negate some of its greatness it still remains the greatest sport to watch.

i feel like there is some hivemind effect relating to the disgust with NBA basketball on neogaf and elsewhere. i'm not a huge nba basketball fan and never have been, but i watch the playoffs every year and it's very entertaining. much like the NFL, the suits upstairs want more offense and so that has caused some issues but i dont remember basketball being drastically better in the early 90's when i started watching

The NBA (and what CBB has become) frustrates me, because I do love basketball.

I just feel like (1) lack of competitive balance and (2) complete inability for any human being to successfully officiate a game has made it unwatchable.

I actually find CBB much less painful to watch these days, just because the officiating is "better" (that is, the players are much slower and less athletic, which makes it easier to figure out what's a foul and what isn't). It shouldn't be that way. NBA players are so, so much more talented. They can make open 3s. They can actually make their goddamn layups. But here we are.

Nailed it, can't watch a full game. Play BBall twice a week on average, but I can't watch the sport and I used to be a huge BBall junky. Garbage.

NBA is too soft nowadays. The Flopping really takes the fun out of watching it, and now Anti-Flopping just makes it ridiculous.

Also, like players back in the day were like fundamentally sound players. They were generally better all around than a vast majority players now. Lotta players are more "highlight reel" players.

Thus concudes my old man rant.

Sometimes it was better sometimes it was worse.

Talent waxes and wanes just like with anything else.

Until game 7 this Spurs Mavs series was a classic. Just really great basketball. And last years finals was probably the best finals I have seen. And just like the greatest movie of all time Empire Strikes Back the bad guys won.

Like to play B-ball but watching it doesn't do much for me. Mostly because you can just catch the last 2 minutes of a game and still see 5 lead changes, so whats the point of watching a full game.

yea basketball gets a lot of shit because of questionable foul calls and obnoxious players, and it definitely deserves it for the most part. all i know is it has the best combination of solo and team play of any sport, i love how one player can take over a game and i love how a team like the 04 pistons can set the league on fire using team defense and ball movement. it's a beautiful sport to watch, but college basketball on the other hand...

college basketball is complete trash, i'm sorry. i appreciate the fact that these kids are playing their hearts out, most of them will never get close to the nba so this is it for them. i love that. i just hate how the game is played.

College basketball is trash.

I am pretty sure only people who don't want to see black people get paid more money than themselves enjoy it. Either that or it had to do with school pride. Otherwise horrible sport.

my roommate is so against paying players, saying how they get paid with free education. it completely baffles me, why are the kids responsible for generating billions of revenue not getting any share of it?

i only need to go back to the 80's breh

Even if we're just including post-merger years, the Niners still had a 25 year head start on the Panthers. That's just not going to be a good comparison.

If you want to fight with Giants, Packers, and Boys fans on this go right ahead. But picking on a team five decades your junior is poor form.

But why are we arguing about the past, when we should be talking about the near future where King Cam wins his first of four consecutive Super Bowls while the Niners are back in the dumps after Harbs and Kaep get traded to Cleveland.

Yes, it's completely bizarre that they still get away with not paying CBB players. The TV contract is how many million dollars for the tourney? Asinine. But when one side has lawyers...

i only picked a fight on the here and now, you're the one who brought up that you've been to the playoffs X amount of times since 1995. lets talk about now: 49ers and panthers played in the playoffs last year and you guys got worked at home. case closed!

In the spirit of Go Get My Lunch ***** from the ATL podcast we should make up some bold-ish predictions for the draft.

I'm starting to think the Jags trade down. Maybe with the Falcons for Mack.

Cowboys are going to take a receiver with their 1st round pick.
Texans will trade into the 1st round with the Pats to get a QB

Paying college basketball players might make the sport a bit better since the good ones might hang around for a bit longer before jumping ship to the NBA.

Not sure if this would be a thing in college football since genetics plays a huge role in those 18 and 19 year old kids not being able to play in the NFL.

I'm convinced that bionic is the old dude who shows up at the Y/park with ice packs on every joint and no one thinks can still ball but turns into Bird when he gets on the court.

Otherwise known as the 5th most annoying pick-up player (as jointly decided by Talon and myself)

Haha, the wet J makes me :jnc every time because it's so true.

Back at college, there was this old dude that would always show up at the gym and school us with turnaround Js. Kneepads and everything. Embarrassing shit.

We been sporting and stuff hard. I sported harder than you do. I sported the hardest.

Taking the ball from one of those speedy little fucks with a destructive tackle to then walk away with the ball is pretty great.

This is not entirely inaccurate.

But most of the time I am schooling kids it has to do with my brain and knowing how to play. Most kids don't know the basics of basketball.

When young kids have fundamentals AND athleticism that's when I don't look so good.

Has any Texans alliance worked out yet? I still remember Texans/Lions alliance.

Welp....

Texans/Pats isn't an "alliance". It is a family. A family brought together to stop the PED fueled advance of the Seachickens.
Who else is going to stop them?
Broncos and Manning? HA!
Colts? Swiss cheese o line and a defensive that Keenum lit up
Steelers? Old n busted

You suck.

Tell me how society or your parents failed so miserably with you so the next generation can avoid mistakes like you.
